Hello

I have some ancestry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and wondered if anyone can please give me an idea of the best genealogy websites for the US (excluding Ancestry and Familysearch, which I have pretty much exhausted).
Thanks in advance

Thanks for your replies and suggestions , I'll certainly check those out. Apparently each state has its own system for getting BMD certs and Pennsylvania is one of the most difficult for a variety of reasons. We may complain about the GRO (and it is quite expensive) but the ability to search indexes, order online and receive the certificates promptly is invaluable.

I've tried relative's name + Phildelphia into Google and been directed to two subscription sites Genealogy Bank and Archives.com. I don't mind paying if the information is any good. Has anyone tried these, please.

Thanks again
Best wishes

No, haven't tried them. But, if you want us to take a look for any of the people concerned then do post details on here (providing they're not still living).

I've just got FindMyPast US so could try it out for you.

I've usually found Ancestry OK for quite a few Philly records but of course it does depend on the period in question.

Thanks for the offer, Marie. I ran a search on FMP USA but didn't come up with anything relating to my people

Best wishes
