I have been researching my family tree for a few months now and up till now have been happy just to log on to GR and update it online. When I tried creating a Gedcom file I wasn't really sure of what I was doing and didn't feel the need for it. I've also heard lots of stories about information failing to be attached. I assumed that one can export the Gedcom file to your offline version periodically in order to have your tree available without logging on all the time. Can someone confirm whether this is right, whether it's advisable to carry your tree offline and what the advantages are. These are probably very obvious questions to most of you so I would be grateful for a clear explanation. |
