Unless I am mistaken, there was (and is!) no such thing as the English Army - it's the British Army. The Irish Free State didn't exist till 1922. So I think the answer is yes! |

There was a large amount of Irishmen in the British Army. In fact many were surprised as most of them had been fighting the English over Home Rule and a United Ireland. But come the outbreak of war all that ceased and they signed up in droves to fight. |
