Family tree from FTM

I have a small "branch" tree which I have done on FTM off line-I want to transfer it to Ancestry on line.

I thought I had done this previously by just using the "on line" option - am I mistaken ?

The way to do it is to import the tree to Ancestry using the Gedcom file created from FTM that is on your computer. Start by opening Ancestry and going to "Family Trees" and then "Upload a Gedcom" and then follow the on screen instructions.

Researching:
Don't put off until tomorrow doing what you can do today. If you like doing it today you can do it again tomorrow. Be kind to your children for it is they who will decide which care home you end up in.

Alternatively, once you have a tree in Family Tree Maker, you can upload it to Ancestry by clicking Upload and Link to Ancestry from the Plan workspace within FTM.

"Upload" being blocked by "Firewall" - if I deactivate Firewall to allow the upload can I reactivate it afterwards (sorry a bit dim !!)

Not quite sure why your firewall would block something that you are trying to upload something that is already on your computer to an external website.

Whatever the situation if you are able to deactivate your firewall you will most certainly be able to reactivate it. If your computer has a version of Windows as its operating system then you will be prompted to reactivate your firewall once you have deactivated it. Do what is necessary to upload your gedcom and once successfully uploaded then reactivate your firewall to protect your computer.

Researching:
