On this theme I recently found a 1911 census entry where in response to the questions about number of children born alive & number of children who had died, the family recorded that 13 children had been born alive, but only 1 it appears was still alive. I have yet establish more detail, but I find it difficult to imagine the grief suffered by the parents. |

Whilst researching families for a WW1 project I recently came across a census where the mother had born 6 children and only had the two surviving sons. |

My grandad was the last of eleven children, all but three of his brothers and sisters died before they were two years old. His mother, my great grandmother died with complications two days after my grandad was born. :-( |
