Missing Death Record

I am trying to discover the death record of my aunt who died as a baby, don't feel comfortable talking to living relatives as it was all very hush hush and never discussed as far as I know (so not sure what they would know anyway) but although I can find her birth record there is nothing when I search for her death. I have only looked in the district where her birth was as I don't think they moved during this time. Any ideas?

Did she perhaps die in a hospital out of the area?

Hi Joanna,

A death is registered where it happened rather than where you live so is there a child of the right age and name somewhere different?

Also, if it was hush-hush, maybe she didn't die: maybe she was fostered/adopted.

It may not help in this case, but I did once find the death of a baby registered in the quarter before the birth was registered. A death is registered more or less straight away whereas there is up to 6 weeks to register a birth.

Janice does raise some good points, though.
