Chris, yes I think that's the right family, they've just put Jean instead of Jane.

Sylvia, thank you for all the info. Before I started researching my nan told me her grandad Henry was born out of wedlock, his mum was a servant who got pregnant by one of the employers. I don't go on family memories but I think this one might actually be right now I've done some research!

I haven't ever researched the parish records (I'm fairly new to this) that's the next thing to do! X

There are a number of sites with transcribed parish records which are free to use eg

Its always worth having an internet search for your county/town/village plus parish records
