Hi, Not physically as I contacted Staffordshire registry office at the weekend as they had emailed me & told me whom to contact. I rang the numbers they had given me, to include Sandwell registry office, (which I knew was wrong). Only to be told it was Staffordshire registry office records I needed. I have since complained about wrong information given to me. I work permanent nights and have been on a run this week. I have done a letter re John Edward Pratt & also another possible link - Phoebe Pratt born in 2nd quarter 1901 in Walsall, but died in West Bromwich in 1901, last quarter( she could have been a twin to my grandfather). I will let you know what happens re this search. Thanks Chris x |

Hi, Thank you for the information you have given me. Most of which I already have. My problem is trying to trace another child , whom died before the 1911 census. Please see my original thread message. Regards Chris |

Another PM from Christine - It would really be best if you replied on the thread, not by PM. |

PM received from Christine. She is going to contact Staffordshire council about the birth in West Bromwich and send them a cheque as she knows they will not charge her if it isn't a match for the details she gives. |

The question about children on the 1911 census asks "how many children born alive" so providing the couple understood the question properly there should have been 4 live births. If it were my family I would definitely investigate the birth and death of John Edward registered in West Bromwich. |

If the child was a stillbirth or died at birth there wont be a birth or death registration |

This looks like John Herbert in 1881 |

This would seem to be John Hubert/Herbert's parent's marriage:- |

This would be John Hubert/Herbert in the 1881 census with his mother, brother and grandmother:- |

The 1911 original does look more like Herbert than Hubert especially the signature. He is said to be from Heddon, Yorkshire and Sculcoates (East Riding, Yorks) covers Hedon |

How about this birth and death (given John Hubert's first name and the fact that the marriage was in West Bromwich - if his marriage is in the name John Herbert instead of John Hubert married to Edith Lizzie Eden in 1897) - (you would have to buy the birth certificate to be certain):- |

What was Edith's maiden name? Sometimes the local registry sites give that against the births |

Do you know either John or Edith's parent's names? It might narrow down the search for the missing child if they named him or her after the child's grandparents. |
