I've found birth certificate for one of my brothers who were adopted as babies, but no luck on the other two. Any ideas how to find out about the birth mother and details for the other two

It sounds as if you share a father rather than a mother? Unless your father acknowledged paternity and permitted his name to appear on the certificate, there is only a slight chance that you can find them.

If you know their birth forenames and when/where they were born, you could look for birth reg, initially using their/your father's surname. Freebmd, if they are shown on there, allows you to click on the page number to show other names listed. Assuming the mother wasn't married to your father, then the registration listing might show up again with both her surname as the child's, matching her maiden name.

Do bear in mind that the child of a married woman would be registered under the husband's surname even if he wasn't the father.

A friend's child is shown on the gro index with his mother's first husband's surname even though they were divorced.. He is also shown with his birth father's surname as he acknowledged paternity.

Hi Many thanks but we don't share the same father. Before our parents passed we found dead out they were adopted the eldest two have same mother and father and the youngest has a differentry dad. We know there birth names and they have a surname of mother but father isn't listed. They want to find to find their history and don't know how to help. Any help would be brilliant. We know their was anot her bon born end of 1965. The mother came from Ireland late 1950s and lived in Leicester. We have know family that can help.

They should apply to social services/adoption agency to access their adoption file. That might give more info about their birth family.

If their GRO index entry doesn't give a fathers surname, then he isn't listed on the BC.

You might find the number ends with /s which indicates there was a name change which was frequently by adoption. It only occurred for a few years - your brothers may or may not fall within that window.
