Thankyou for your replies. I do have more info. My direct line is elizabeth Jones .The entry above Joseph and martha jones . Elizabeth was married to a John Jones ,now a widow. Joseph is Elizabeths brother-in-law . I have them on 1841 census still living next door to one another .Their is a william jones on there age 40 ,but why is he down as father-in-law on 1851. I do realize with having such a common name as jones that its going to be a challenge . |

Hi i wondered if someone could help or advice me with the 1851 census . I have found the family i am looking for but what i carnt understand is why father-in-law is stated when he is the same age as the head of houshold Joseph Jones and 9 years older than his wife Martha .Their is a son- in- law Thomas 29 and a daughter -in-law Maria age 11. I have come across this before when the children have been from previouse marriages and have been put down as in laws. This son-in-law is older than Josephs listed own children and the daughter- in- law is younger than the listed children The children are all unmarried .Where does William the father- in- law fit into this as well ? the ref no is HO107 1988/249 .thankyou for any help or advice that is given |
