Sorry, surely Barbara emigrated with Edward Ho(l)mes, and you can see those links to the graves? |

The lady who contacted me said he was, I took it at face value as shes related. Im totally out of the loop with research, having had a long time off, but Id rather know. So Barbara didnt emigrate after all then and the children arent hers. Thankyou for doing this for me, I'll go back to my tree x |

Why did you think he was Robert Edward Holmes? |

Sorry - have been out all day. All I basically knew from certs is that Barbara's mother died just after childbirth and her father had died a few months previous. The births and deaths of the family were reg'd by a Naomi Roberts, Barbara's aunt. I couldn't find Barbara anywhere until a distant relation emailed to say she had emigrated to USA with a man named Mr Holmes, and married him. Of course its possible that this lady made a wrong turn in her research... Barbara was a Romany gypsy and her parents never legally married. |

There is this James that would fit. Maybe his wife preferred her middle name? It is just speculation though. |

If she did marry in America (looking less likely), and that they were living in Wisconsin, have you tried looking for records here: |

1930 census gives immigration year as 1871 - but these dates are usually regarded as unreliable. |

She had 10 children, 6 still living for 1900 census in Spink South Dakota. |

Patchem, yes that's the baptism. I have an extensive tree covering her parents and her fathers side. Just trying to get marriage details and work out if she ran away with her husband; I cant see her before marriage in the UK. |
