Hi everyone,

I'm struggling with my search into the Scottish records and wondered what I'm doing wrong. I can find the person but it's like every record is just blank.

The first on my search into Scottish territory is William Pringle Miller Dods of Loch End, Dumfries, born in 1847. He married Jane Stobbs in Stokesley in 1878 and lived in Durham thereafter with their children.

Hi Joanne, Are you looking at Scotlandspeople website?, as that is the only site which has BMDs and census images for Scotland, though you can find the census transcripts on other sites.

THE LATE MR. W. P. M. DODS.
The remains Mr W. P. M. Dods, well-known farmer and stock feeder, of Denton Hall, Darlington, were interred at Denton Churchyard yesterday afternoon. There was a large gathering of farmers and others.
The principal mourners were five sons of the deceased, Mrs. Dods and Mrs. Sanderson (Daughters) Mr. S. Dods, Mr. F.H. Sanderson, Mr and Mrs. Stobbs and Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Wilson

News in Brief.
The death occurred in the early hours of this morning at the residence ot her daughter at Feethams, Darlington, of Mrs. Dods, widow of the late Mr.W. P. M. Dods. late of Denton Hall.
This the fourth death in the family in the present year.

That said , it is the 1911 census that says dumfries, but looking at SP I can't see any likely match?

Hi again,

I'm still struggling with the search through Scottish records for William Pringle Miller Dods born around 1847 to a John Dods (marriage certificate arrived this morning). I've bought credits on Scotlands People, but I can't find him on there, and do those credits really expire after 24hours?!! This is getting very expensive %3A-%28

Please help me, I'm stuck on this one, and it's driving me mad ha ha

It's so difficult to be certain, the children's names don't match though, but they seem to be fairly spread apart so I guess the older ones may have left? This one is giving me a headache. Thank you for all your help, I really do appreciate it xx
