I've always been able to search on both sites by location - just enter the name of the town/village and click 'search' |

Not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but I've just looked on Ancestry at 1871 and 1881 census putting nothing in the search criteria except for the village name. |

Don't think so on Ancestry but you can on FMP but it's a bit long winded |

It used to be possible, certainly on FMP to search by address rather than name, ie; stick in the name of a village for the 1881 census for example and it would return a result for every address within that village, it doesn't seem that can be done anymore, or can it ?!? |
