Oooh thank you all so very much for taking the time to look this gentleman up.
I am assuming this is the same. When they were deported did they have transport back? I know very little about being transported.
He is back in London by 1846 and married.
I appreciated you answering. Thank you.

Yes, thanks for a nod in the right direction ErikaH. Fortitude was a prison hulk, it didn't sail anywhere! So yes, Samuel would be back in London after his sentence. I had no idea.
I do appreciate information given by all of you.

Thanks Maddie. That is a curve ball. I will have to go further into this. My Samuel, according to my research, was back in London, with a family in 1846. So maybe I need to recheck. Thanks for your time.

A bit sketchy Erika.
My link is his daughter Mary Ann b. 1854. He has two elder daughters, so maybe married between 1845-47. I am working from the 1861 Census for the family living at 4 Chapel Place. Islington. Wife is named as Sarah.
I could be linking a different Samuel, it is a common name.
edit. Logging off for the night. Will not be back on til tomorrow sometime. Thanks.

Oh wow. Thank you so much Maddie and ArgylleGran. As we are told, I am working backwards from Mary Ann. So have no definite details without certificates etc, but this certainly has given me more information to get cracking on.
I shall work on this new info, and see what I can find out, to go further back.
Thank you both once again for your help. Much appreciated.
edit. sorry Maddie did not see you asking about Samuel. I have him as being born 1816, Islington, but no further details.
edit. again, I have misread your post ArgyleGran, I have the Mary Ann etc as the children of Samuel, not James Green. So I don't know if this is wrong now. The dates of birth seems right, but maybe I am up a gum tree!
