It looks, therefore, as if the 1861 and 1871 censuses I posted for Kezia, and her birth, are correct.
Her mother Jemima married George John Hutchinson in 1850 as posted by GG.
I assume Thomas Bray (in 1861) and George Bray (in 1871) are one and the same - both born in Suffolk and both bricklayer's labourers.

The 1891 census was taken on 5th April, so Kezia should be on it somewhere, even if her death was registered in the Sept/Oct/Dec quarter.

Thank you all for your input.. I'm not sure where i got the Dawn from in Emma..it is wrong though as just looked on her birth certificate and she was definitely Emma Rowlett born 5 sept 1876
Married William John jackson 28 August 1899 he was a widower and she was a spinster.
Also found a death for Kezia jackson Sept 1891 Could explain why she wasn't on the 1891 census.. I'm now wondering if he married again between then and 1899??
I think i will purchase the death certificate for Emma, it's strange that she never remarried as many did soon after back then..
Also need to look into this younger William Jackson on the 1891 census..
Dad could have meant Emma was 50 when she passed,as he is getting confused now i don't want to add more to what i'm asking
I really appreciate everyones time

You said, "My father said she passed in 50s, I've spoken to auntie and she said she wasn't alive in 1940 when she was born!! "
Could your father have meant that Emma was in her 50s ? If the 1925 death is the right one, she was 49.

Where did you get the second forename for Emma?
Nothing on any official records to support the suggestion - and Dawn was certainly not a normal 19th century name
Some trees on Ancestry have added 'Dawn', but they don't have ANY documentary backup to substantiate the addition
They variously suggest that she died in 1950 or 1955
This may be the basis for one of the dates - but this is apparently for an older woman
Name: Emma Jackson Death Age: 77 Birth Date: abt 1873 Registration Quarter: Oct-Nov-Dec 1950 Registration District: Romford Inferred County: Essex Volume: 5a Page: 554
............probably this one in 1939 (Romford reg'n district includes Hornchurch)
Sunnyside Up Berwick Road, Rainham, Hornchurch U.D., Essex, England Emma Jackson 03 Dec 1873 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Widowed 147 4
If, as seems to me to be very likely, the 1916 death posted by AG (and on page one by greyghost) is William's - perhaps she re-married?

Another mystery??
I cant seem to find the death of my great grandmother.
She was Emma Dawn Jackson nee Rowlett
Born 1876 Islington ( I think )
My father said she passed in 50s, I've spoken to auntie and she said she wasn't alive in 1940 when she was born!! My father has Parkinsons and now diagnosed with dementia so I'm guessing he's getting confused and I dont like pushing him too much.. He did say she lived in Tilbury Essex when he was young but even on this km not sure if hes correct!! Thanks in advance

Would be interesting to pin William down 1891 and Kezia 1881.
I wonder if she is hospitalied - or similar - having, it looks like, given birth to 3 children and lost them all. There may have been other pregnancies.
The marriage certificate of Kezia to William might yield clues as to her origins if that is a correct marriage. Would give her age, hopefully accurate, and Father's name. Let us know all the details when you receive it - come back to this thread, posting will bring it back to the top of the board.

If the 1891 death is correct, then I know her death was registered as Jackson. However, she's not with William in 1881 - he's with Ellen, if that's the right 1881 record. Maybe Kezia returned to her maiden name for a while ??
