According to the Oprah Winfrey doctors, the best treatment for night sweats, hot flushes, mood swings weight gain and loss of libido is Testosterone .Used in conjunction with bio identical progesterone(serenity cream) it is claimed ALL these symptoms will be eased if not cured within a week! I'm off to find out what my doctor thinks of this though I'm a bit concerned about growing a beard and taking up smoking a pipe lol.

I went through a stage a few years ago of making notes of my dreams and keeping a notepad by the bed so if I woke in the night I could jot things down.I wish I had kept it now.
Part of my dream last night was that there was a large tree outside my bedroom and in the branches was a 'bird'.The body was black and white(cow) and a head like a huge chicken. When I looked out the front bedroom window (In the dream) the field was full of these creatures, just grazing away.

I'm sure you could just toss all the ingrediennts in your breadmaker on the cake proggramme and ...voilla cake to come home to.Try also the Burgen linseed bread available at all supermarkets ,linseed and other omega 3's work very well for fibromyalgia ,my daughter suffered hell with it for a long time until she was advisedd to take flaxseed capsules and a supplement called MSN by Jan de Freis and I have to say she found it a great help.Sadly she also has a variety of complaints, polycystic ovaries and endymetriosis amongst them .If shes careful with her diet and takes all her supplements she can cope with daily life.I've ordered the HRT cake from yorkshire and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition and I'm north of Glasgow.

When you have 2 people to feed and both need different things from their diet, the whole thing becomes a nightmare. Multiple illnesses seem to be a common thing with us over 70's and I wonder how much it goes back to nutrition in childhood. My OH is diabetic and has autonomic neuropathy which affects his bowels, with only some control on many days. He is also arthritic. Drs disagree as to wether he has heart disease but has been carted off to hospital a few times with extreme chest pain. One Dr thinks that it is part of the neuropathy. My problems are also multiple, but I wont bore you again with them!

you can buy the flaxseed capsules in any chemist or health foodshop ,though they are often more expensive .Maybe trying them on their own could help.I know that a friend takes them for joint problems even superdrug or the other budget shops and maybe even Asda .It might be worth a try.IBS can be helped by cutting out caffeine, wheat dont use bran ,I know my MIL has always sprinkled bran on her food and added it to mice and stews but that can irritate it and the most important thing is keeping your stress levels in check.Relaxation tapes, breathing exercises and meditation all help.I sometimes feel as if I've had every stress related illness known to man,Usually manage to figure out how to control them though, all exept "the change"

Christine ,I find I am waking up almost every hour at the moment. It is sooooo annoying.Think I have been asleep for ages lol.I wake ,then sit up and lean over OH to see the clock.Bless him he gets disturbed sleep 'cos of me,and he needs his sleep.

Jean (Monmouth) Report 17 Nov 2009 19:26

Jane, I do that and sit there thinking , 'I thought it was later than that!' Then the last time you wake up its nearly time to get up, you doze and wake up late!
At the moment, what with taking stronger painkillers I am constipated, despite eating porridge and prunes and taking Movicol. Am trying to lessen the pain relief, but the muscles in my derriere get so I could cry. Am trying to keep up with walking and doing my exercises, but they dont seem to help.
Isnt this small window for posting irritating when you cant see what you have typed!

I might have tried that myself last month when we had 2 little fieldmice take up residence ,usually only saw them round about midnight and O.H. thought I was hallucinating.I ordered some humane mouse traps and as luck would have it no.1 mouse popped into it while the little ones were here and they were thrilled ,wanted to keep it as a pet it was a lovely wee thing and next day it's partner surrendered too.I told the kids that the first one was waiting for it's mum so we drove 3 miles and set it free in the same field where their papa freed it's little friend. When we got back my grandson wanted to know if they behaved like the mice in cartoons when we were in bed and me being me I said yes and embroidered the story to keep them amused so now they believe I play host to Tom and Jerry at night and they'ree desperate to stay so they can watch! Will I ever learn !lol

The first cat we got ,3 weeks after we got married, was a tortoiseshell called Murphy ,her claim to fame was the day she arrived home with a live hamster. We tried all over the neighbourhood to find his owner but no luck, so we bought him a cage and he stayed with us for 2 years,he was never really our hamster though,he was Murphy's she used to watch him lovingly through the bars and when we let him out she would pick him up gently and take him back to his cage.We had her for 13 years and we still keep her photograph on display 22 years later.

I had a lovely cat that I found in the 70's.I called him Jerry ,he was a gorgeous ginger tom and he would wee down the bath plug lol.He slept in my bed with his head on the pillow too.

Patricia Report 19 Nov 2009 00:19

Doesn't the saying go "you can own a dog but a cat owns you"One of Murphy's kittens stayed with us for almost 3 years ,but she was a very strict mum and he was often skelped around the ears for misdemeaners then he went missing and it was several weeks later we discovered he'd moved in with an elderly lady in the next street. We just told our friends that Rocky had packed his bags and left home! He did visit occasionally but was much happier not being treated like a baby by his mum lol.The elderly lady adored him and spoiled him rotten

I just realised I havent had any of my horrendous red sweaty faces for a week or two !!!I still have what I call the normal flushes, but I don't think as often.
I was in M&S this morning and was a little warm, trying to blow air up on my face ,and this women said "Oh Hen,are you hot? I'm freezing, feel this" she put her hand on my arm(which was bare) and it was like ice!!!!!!!!!! It felt like heaven lol

Great advice WiNtErWiTcH
So Very True,
1.my kids tell me to get a chain for the Glasses,

2.I have started to look like a Granny (I am one) dragging a shopping trolley behind me to save my poor shoulders,as I am a terrible person for carrying bags of shopping.

3 It's nice pushing my grandaughters pram until I have to go up a hill.

4 OH does the garden anyway, I'm known for killing off household plants occasionally

Thats enough for now or I'll be here all day.

Jane Report 20 Nov 2009 18:33
