How sad for Joyce, she does seem to have more than her fair share of tragedy in her life doesn't she. As I said on Caz's thread, sending Joyce ((((hugs)))) and lots of thoughts.

Mo in Kent Report 11 Oct 2010 13:27

Good afternoon ladies, from a glorious sunny day here in Kent.
The washing is out blowing in the breeze, oooh lovely. Nice fresh smelling clothes when they come inside.

I do hope everyone is fit and well today, and enjoying the day.

The update on my sons eye, is that he has to go to the eye hospital, tommorrow afternoon. They wanted him to go today, but , he told them he has to work. I do wonder, why he chose to wait till then, when he have got it sorted today. Still he's not a child any more, and I can't insist can I.

Well our darts season starts again tonight. I am looking forward to my evenings out again, even though it is only one night a week. But during the off season I don't venture out at night.
So wish me luck girls, coz I think I am going to need it.

I hope our Jean is looking in((((((((((HUGS FOR YOU JEAN)))))))))
I miss you not posting very often. Love to J+D xxx

Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Hi Everyone,

Mo, it's a lovely day here too, but no washing on the line, as I did it yesterday-----now I have the ironing to do. I hate that job, I'd sooner be making cards.lol!!

I hope you'll enjoy yourself tonight! Although I'm certain you will! Do you start playing matches tonight, or is just a friendly game to start with?

I hope your son will get on alright at the hospital tomorrow. As you say Mo,
we can't insist on our grown up children doing what we think is best, but sometimes I wonder if they give some things much thought at all.

Sylvia, I hope that both you and OH enjoyed your weekend away. I know you won't be home until a lot later today, so have a safe journey.

Dutch, if you're looking in, I hope that both you and Jan are feeling better, whatever the bug is, it's a pretty nasty one.

I know that you were supposed to be coming over to the UK at the beginning of November, but I'm wondering if you'll have to come over sooner now, seeing what's happened.

I'm really sorry Joyce, you've had more than enough problems recently.

Jean, how are things with you, J and D? I hope that all is well. Also hope that the antibiotics are working, and that you are feeling better.
Are you still busy making cards? I was too tired to make any yesterday, by the time I had done a bit of housework and cooked the Sunday dinner, I just didn't feel like doing anything else.

Alun spent yesterday morning, along with a few other members painting a large metal shed at the club. They use it to store all the paints and other things that can't be stored inside the club itself. The only problem is that the member that got the paint for them, bought the wrong colour, so they are now planning to get the colour paint they wanted, and spend next Sunday morning repainting it. So it looks as though it's another late Sunday dinner again next week.lol!!

Ann, I can see that you've been busy making cards, and if I remember rightly, you have a Scrapbook to make for your grandson. Good luck!

I have a Scrapbook to make for my sister-in-law and her hubby as a Christmas present, and also have a desk calendar to make for my brother, so I really must get on with them and of course the cards.

Tess, hope things are alright with you and your family. Like you. I was lost for words when I read Caz's thread about Joyce's daughter.

Huia, also hope that all is well with both you and Phil.
Are you still working at the Hospice Shop? I expect by now that your weather is improving, I bet you're glad that summer's on the way, so that you can go for your walks again.

Hope Marie is having a great holiday. It can't be too long now before she gets home. I can't remember the date she told us.

I wonder if things are alright with Debbie and her family, it's a long time since we heard from her.

Well I'm going to start doing a few cards now, I'll look in later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hello friends sorry I have been lax at coming on ... Mo the christmas cards have to be done early as I have the next order for an album to start.... so dont get frazzled if I go missing, but mainly today I am so upset for Joyce and her family , we go back a fair way and she always sent me pics of the family, so it brings you closer to the sorrow...Sallie, the anti biotics seem to be working and my mouth ceratinly looks better, thenks for asking....I have been recycling fathers day cards, I made quite a few but they were too late to show, so now I have good few mens cards altered and as I hadnt many before it fills the gap...
Ann , I replied on the scrapbook thread about your pics you sent me but just in case you missed it thank you and I love them.

Tess, Debbie Huia,Sylvia and everyone, hope you are all well and tickity boo.
when is Marie back?
Mo, I hope to make a few bob betting on you darts sucsess, so finger out girl, better do well or else......lol.....

Jean, like you the news about Joyce's daughter has really knocked me today. Everything that I've done, I've been half-hearted about doing. Although I didn't know her daughter, I feel so desperately sorry for Joyce and her family.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, and are able to get on with all your crafting.

I have a couple of birthday cards to make and of course a sympathy card, so I'd better try and get on with them.

Love to everyone. Sallie. xxx

Sorry girls if I seem down, but like everyone else, Joyce's news has really upset me.
Her daughter was the same age as my eldest daughter, and I know how I would feel,if I was in Joyce's shoes.
It is so so sad.

Well Jean, I will try my damndest tonight, in your honour. If I play rubbish, I will give you the 1p bet back, with interest of 1p. LOL
I am pleased to hear that you are feeling a bit better, with taking the anti-biotics.
Not long now before your holiday. You will have to leave the card making at home then. Or will you be making toppers whilst you are away.

Yes Sallie tonight is our first match. We have not had any friendlies at all, since the end of last season. So tonight,it will be like beginners starting again.
I bet Alun and the others were cursing when they had finished the shed, and it was the wrong colour. All that hard work for nothing. But I suppose it will be a good undercoat for the shed. LOL

Well I am away to get myself sorted out now.

Hello girls.
Well Jean I hope you put loads of dosh on that bet,coz we won last night
5-1 and we won the pairs 2-1. But I must hang my head in shame, I was bottom average. The most important thing though, was that I finished the most important game,to enable us to win the pairs.
I must get more practise, or Jean will tell me of,for being bottom average, and I can't be having that. LOL

We took our son to the eye hospital today,re what the optician said was, maybe a detached retina.
Well, the eye xray showed that he has nothing wrong with his eyes at all.
It still does not explain why he keeps getting the white flashes in his eyes though.
But at least it has put my mind to rest, after the worry with my nephew, and his brain tumour, being found by an optician.
What I cant understand is, why was he given glasses initially,if he has perfect eyesight.
Well thats my moan over with.

We have another lovely day here, the sun is shining, and all is peaceful with the world.

Sending love and thoughts out to Joyce. God bless you my love, and give you the strength you need to get you through this sad time.

I hope you are all well. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Mo, it's good to hear that there's nothing wrong with your son's eyes. As you said, it was such a worry considering that your nephew had a brain tumour.
How is he getting on, we haven't heard anything about him lately? I hope that he is getting better.

Well done on winning at darts last night. I can imagine how thrilled you and your team were. It's good that I'm not in your team, because you certainly would have lost, lolol!!! I can't even throw a dart properly.

Joyce, if you're looking in, I'm thinking about you and your family.

We're going over to see Jennie now, so I might look in later .

Mo, both my OH and our friend have flashes in their eyes mainly at night. The optician told them both the same. He sees several cases a week and it is the 'jelly in the eye moving. OH was told if it became constant though he was to go straight to A&E because that would be a detached retina. Intermittent is not a problem to worry about.

Hi Sallie and Ann.
Just thought I would pop in to say hello.
I have to admit I am relieved about my sons eyes Ann.
My nephew seems to be going along fine,at the moment, fingers crossed,
thanks for asking Sallie.
How is your brothers feet now Sallie. Is he back at work yet.?
I wonder if they have started Sylvia's kitchen yet. I believe they had their thanks giving yesterday. I just hope that the kitchen was in a usable state
for them to cook the turkey.
How are things going at your house Ann. I hope you and T are o.k.
Well girls I am going to do a Sallie, and put the kettle on for a cuppa.
I hope Huia is o.k,as we have not heard from her in a while.
Also Liz,she has been very quiet. I hope things are sorted out at her house as well.
Hi Tess, I have not forgotten you love. I hope you are feeling better now.
Marie should be home from her holiday soon. Lets hope she has had a brilliant time.
Bye for now. Love Mo xxx

Mo, so pleased that your nephew is doing okay, let's hope that it will continue that way for him.

My brother is also doing alright, but won't be able to start work for a while yet. He's having his second plaster off on Thursday, so will have to take care for a while yet, and of course he has to have physio too.
Thanks for asking about him.

Ann, that's good to know about about flashing lights in the eyes. Thank you for that.
I'm wondering how Daff is, after being re-admitted to hospital yesterday.
Let's hope that they can get the infection sorted, so that she can have the bone marrow transplant quite soon.

Sylvia, hope that they are getting on okay with your kitchen. It will be lovely when it's finished I'm sure.

Did you and OH enjoy your weekend? I bet you enjoyed the company of your friends that you haven't seen for a long while.

Hope J and family are alright. You'll certainly see a big difference in MJ at Christmas. Sending him hugs and kisses. xxxx

Well that' all for now girls, speak to you all soon.

Love and best wishes to everyone. Sallie. xxx

We are in the process of having four windows replaced at the front of the house. Had the back done in the spring. It took him all day today to do the kitchen window but he has made a lovely job of it. It is a slight bay, three lots of panes the middle one flat the two outer at an angle. Tomorrow he will do two bedrooms and the bathroom all being well, quite straightforward windows.

At the moment I am suffering frustration with the stupidity of facebook. (see my thread on chat). It does seem strange that they can lock a 70 year old out but they can't stop bullying!

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 12 Oct 2010 21:02

We have a bay window as well Ann. I don't know about where you are, but they charged us for three windows,as it had to have three glazed units put in. Mind you they do look nice, and so much warmer than the old ones that were in before.
I hope it was not to cold where you are today, only when we had ours done it was snowing outside, and freezing cold indoors.
I had spotted your thread about FB. I am not on there myself. I don't think I could manage it,it's bad enough me coping with GR.

Huia Report 12 Oct 2010 21:02

Hi there.

I have been busy looking for my new cheque book and scanning negs. A couple of people want discs of some of the negs. I am putting the results into appropriate folders then I can just drag the folders across to burn onto the disc. I havent finished scanning all the ones Phil had taken of the dams being built, which is what bro in law wants but will give him what I have scanned to date.

I am not sure I am cut out for this charity shop work. I am a bit clumsy at times, and I have to stop to remember how to work the till and eftpos machine. Perhaps if I was in there more often I would remember. There are one or two other little things that I have not done correctly. I hope I can improve, otherwise I will have to resign before I am kicked out!

I am sitting here wearing 3 sweat shirts and a jersey and had to put the fan heater on as I am still cold. The sky is rather grey. I wonder if it might snow? This is supposed to be spring. Yesterday we had sun but a freezing wind.

Time I did the dishes and got on with some h****w**k.

Huia.

Mo in Kent Report 12 Oct 2010 21:10

Sorry Huia I missed you love.
It seems that we are quite lucky over here at the moment, with our weather, and yet you are all freezing. Wrap up well, and stay warm.
Don't worry yourself to much about making mistakes at work, everyone has to learn at the start of a new career, and you have not been there that long. Plus like the rest of us,as we get older,it takes longer for us to absorb what we are taught.
I am still trying to learn how to manage this laptop, but there are days when my brain just not seem to grasp what I am meant to be doing. Never mind I get by in my own way.
Take care my friend, stay safe. Love Mo xxx

Hi Huia, sorry you are feeling chilly, we have had some lovely sunny autumn days but I am sure it will soon change. Not too cold here today Mo but anyway I was out all morning and until 2pm at a meeting and lunch so OH was here on his own. Out man is very good, he has his own business and is very particular and very tidy and clean. tomorrow his son will come with him. He even decided he didn't like the way a couple of bricks were set in and found some bricks in our garden (goodness knows where they came from) and cut them to size and fitted them in. The estimate for all four windows including the bay is just under £2000.

Hi all

I got back yesterday, and am still running around trying to catch my tail!!

Have been side tracked from concentrating on here tonight by watching the rescue of the Chilean miners ........ live, on BBC World News

absolutely incredible!

I've seen the first 3 rescued ...... now OH has gone to bed, and I've turned the tv off, because he seems to be able to hear it no matter how low I turn the sound!!

We had a really enjoyable weekend ....... it was teeming down with rain on Saturday when we travelled over to the Island, although the threatened high winds did not appear.

Then on Sunday, it was clear as bell, sunny and warm! So we were able to spend all the time out in the garden, as our friend had intended!

She had the food catered (just snacky type things) ..... but the caterer also prepared a beef tenderloin for her, and left it behind to be eaten after the party. About 8 of us stayed on, along with party girl's brother (age 82) and his wife ............ and had slices of the tenderloin, salad and rolls for dinner. The brother and his wife will celebrate their 60th anniversary next year!

It's funny ....... I've heard about her brother and his wife since we met our friend back in 1968 ...... but I've never met them before this weekend! They lived in Denver Colorado, and now in Arizona, and our visits have never coincided!

We didn't get any turkey, nor did we cook one ourselves ................ we didn't get home until about 6:30pm Monday evening, so we just had a couple of boiled eggs and toast

.......... but the weekend was far more enjoyable than any turkey :)))

Take care everyone

Hi Girls,

Just a quick look in before I go and do the weekly shop. A job I hate doing!

Huia, lovely to hear from you, you have been busy soting out all the negatives. I wouldn't know where to start.lol!!

I'm sure in time you'll get use to doing all the things that you have to do, in the Hospice Shop. I agree that it would be better to work there a bit more, as you would remember how to do things a lot quicker. Good luck and take care.

Sylvia, so pleased that both you and OH enjoyed your weekend. At least the weather was good, so it made things a lot more enjoyable.

Like you I've been watching the rescue of the miners in Chile, it's amazing how they worked out the best way to rescue them.

I have to go now, so I'll speak to you all later on.

Love and best wishes to everyone. Sallie.xxx
