Sallie Report 7 May 2012 11:35

Good morning girls, lovely to see some more of our friends on here this morning.

I had almost finished a long message to you all, and it just disappeared, blinking nuisance.

Sylvia, lovely to see you back and to know that you and OH had a lovely few days away. I love your avatar, to think that we are into May and that you were able to take photos of snow on your journey.
I think we in Britain are wondering if we are going to have a summer this year. It looks as though we had our summer a week or two before
Easter.lol!!

Joyce, hope all goes well with your scans and blood tests at the hospital tomorrow. I will be thinking about you and will be in touch to see how things went.

Huia, hope that you can get your new scanner/printer sorted out. It's great that you know what to do, I'm afraid I rely on Alun to sort out all the computer problems. He has shown many times how to sort out different things but by the time I go to do them I have forgotten what he's shown me.lol!!

Lovely to hear that your grt.grandson is doing so well and that motherhood is certainly suiting his mum.

Puss, you are doing really well with your bracelet making. Have you put anymore on Ann's blog lately? I had a look at the ones you put on there, they are really pretty. I cant leave a comment on there, which is pity as there are so many lovely things that everyone has made, it would be nice to let them all know and give them a bit of encouragement.

Mo, hope that both you and Roly are alright today. Are any of the family visiting you today? Maybe your son is having to work today though. Richard is working 9am-4pm, that's the trouble working in retail, they have to work most Bank Holidays. Although Richard no longer works in sales, he works on the debt side of the company now, he still has to work Bank Holidays. Oh well, at least they have a job and that's something to be thankful for with the way things are in Britain now.

Caz, Linda, Ann and Jude, if you are looking in, hope you are all having a good day.

Well, I'm going to make myself a cuppa now. Alun is out this morning helping one of his mates from the Model Railway Club, with his computers.

Speak to you all later on today.

Take care all.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hello to everybody on here, I hope you are all well.
I don't usually come on here, but wanted to put up a message for Sallie.
I have been today, to where you went yesterday,Sallie, and got all the craft stuff I wanted. LOL I bought some paints for painting my garden pots, crochet cotton that I was not able to get in the city, the other week, and a couple of bags of buttons, because they are so expensive to buy when you're knitting or crocheting garments. All for under £15, which I was quite pleased about.
However, the trouble started when I had to come back through, "you know what department" LOL
Did you see the new shop that has opened next to the Craft centre, selling the organic vegetables etc. We had to go in and have a look, of course. I bought a piece of cheese, but they had some lovely foodstuffs indoor.
I nearly bought some Rhubarb because I am rather partial. It was £1.98 p. pound. I am glad I didn't though. When coming back the country route there was a sign on a house wall saying Rhubarb 40p per pound. Unfortunately we couldn't stop, because of the dog left on her own too long. But I have told the OH where he is going this week LOLOL
I hope you are keeping as well as you can, I'll catch up with you again.

Julia in Derbyshire

PS. Isn't it blinky cold up here today. I have been warmer in December, than I am today.

Rhubarb Rhubarb, I lurve Rhubarb Julia, Pie, Crumble, even on it's own with custard, yummy. 40p a pound is good value considering how much it was near the craft centre.
I am surprised that you don't grow your own though Julia. We grew it many years ago, but the garden started to become overgrown with it, so we dug it up and threw it out. Oooh how I regret it now.

Yes Sallie, Jason had to work today like Richard did. I remember the days when shops didn't open Sundays, or Bank Holidays at all.
He's not at work tomorrow though...well it would be pretty silly him going in, as he's got to be at the hospital at 1.30 p.m, and it's quite a journey to his works, and then he has another long journey to the hospital.
What time did Alun get back from his Model Railway Club, I hope it was not to late, so that you could have a bit of company for some of the day.

Cooee Sylvia.
My goodness it looks like you had all the seasons in one day on your journey.
I bet you are glad to be home though love, as much as we enjoy going away, there is no place like home, is there.
It sounds like you both had an enjoyable time.

Hi Huia,
I cant believe you are still having problems, with your printer and scanner.
I do hope the person who comes to you, can sort it out for you properly.
How is your Phil doing now? How did the meeting with the staff go, re how Phil is faring. I did ask you just after you had the meeting but you must have missed my question love.

Isn't it great to hear from our Joyce, she a real trooper. I hope things go well at the hospital tomorrow honey.

Puss, how did it go at the craft fair this week end. Did you sell many of your bracelets?
I am loving your comment at the bottom under researching. It's so true what you say, " Never Judge a Book By It's Cover " Stay strong babe.

No Caz today I notice. I hope she is o.k. Perhaps she is being spoilt, as her OH should be home today as well, lets hope so.

I am going to do a Sallie now, and go and put the kettle on for a nice Cuppa Tea.
Night Night girls, take care, Love Mo xxx

Hi Julia, glad to hear that you were able to get all that you wanted at the Garden Centre. I'm trying to find something a bit different to what I've already got to make a card for Jennie's birthday at the end of the month. I've looked in all the craft shops in Derby but can't find anything that I really like, they all have some new card making stuff in, but I'm not too keen on some of it.

Yes I noticed the new shop next to the craft centre, but didn't go in and look around. Which cheese did you buy and have you tried it yet?

Julia, hope you are feeling a lot better these days and not suffering any pain. Have you put any of the things you have knitted on Ann's blog? It would be great to see what you've made. There are some lovely things on there from cards, baby coats and hats, quilts and jewellry. There are are certainly some talented members on GR.

I haven't put any cards on the blog for a long while as I've not felt like making any, but I am slowly starting to get back into making them again.

Julia, I'm wondering if we are going to have any summer weather at all, as you say it is keeping cold and not just here in Derbyshire but in the whole of Britain.

I'll speak to you again soon, take care.

Puss, looking forward to seeing more of the bracelets you have made.

Alun got back from his mates just after 12.30p.m. so we went to Nottingham for a change, managed to get what we needed and then came home. It was cold and wet there, so was glad to get back to a nice warm house.

Mo, if I'm right, your son goes to see the heart specialist tomorrow, doesn't he? I hope all goes well for him. Will be thinking about him and the family.
There are so many people waiting to see a specialist in the next couple of weeks that it's a job remembering, who goes when.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK to both Mo's son and also to Joyce for tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo. just realised that you posted while I was typing. Yes I can remember the time when the shops were closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays too. Not sure how many yeras ago they started opening on Sundays and Bank Holidays...it seems a very long time.

Alun got back at 12.45pm, so after a quick snack we went to Nottingham, but didn't stay there too long just long enough to get what we needed.

Puss hope youv'e managed to find all the beads that you dropped.

Hi Everyone
Well a real family do yesterday for a nephew's 18th, his friends all came later !!LOL
My Mum was there(she escaped from the care home), most of my brothers and sisters and their familes too. All my own family. My sister in laws family too. And some of their friends we used to see when all the children were young. They are all so grown up now and either finished their education or about to go off to uni.
Our grandson was there and had lots of cuddles, lots of pictures too.

Just had a message to say can we help again tomorrow as he has the scan apppointment and daughter would rather I was there with them.. So on duty again. Thank heavens we both retired.

Hope it goes OK for your son tomorrow Mo. And that everyone else is as well as possible.

It's raining heavily again this evening.

Oh I finished a cardigan and beanie hat for the next grandchild and gave them to my son today the first of many items no doubt. Then I made another hat for the special care unit too. I have 10 now so might give them to them tomorrow when we are at the hospital?

Hope everyone sleeps well

Huia Report 8 May 2012 02:58

Mo, the meeting with the nurse at Phil's home went ok. They told me what they had been doing and what medication he is on. As he often rolls out of bed they lower it at night and have a mattress on the floor beside it. They said he has trouble breathing at night so they give him some oxygen, at least i think that is what they said. They say he doesnt talk much, usually just one word in response to a question or comment. Sometimes he resists help.

I an just thankful that I no longer have to care for him. I saw him resisting when the nurse tried to put the thing in his ear the other day to take his temp. I had to hold his hands tight. They do apparently take him for a supported walk each day. I had been wondering if he ever did any walking, I only see him sitting in his chair when I visit.

I might not visit Phil this week. Last night after dinner I developed an extremely sore throat, and it bothered me all night and when I looked in the mirror this morning it looked swollen and red. It doesnt feel quite so bad now, but I will have to see how it goes today and tomorrow.

Huia.

Sally I thought Joyces appointment was Wed. She is ringing me at teatime Wed to tell me how she went on.
I have my ct scan tomorrow morning to see if they can find out why I forget everything. Not feeling too good today as I'm in a lot of pain with my leg and ankle so will keep this short, I hope it's not going to be paralysed again, it's feeling that way, I'm so fed up.
Julia it is nice to see you on here, you will have to visit us more often.
Mo I am always on at this time, only very rarely do I come on earlier.
I am having a tooth out tomorrow, when I fell and broke my ankle I banged my back tooth as well, it is loose and wobbly now so has to come out, not looking forward to it.
OH has made a cuppa so will go and get it.

Love Caz xx

Mo in Kent Report 8 May 2012 20:08

Hello everyone,
Well my son spent hours at the hospital today. They took bloods, he had to do the walking excercise on the treadmill, scans, etc, and guess what, he is none the wiser yet.
The doctor said that if he was older, he would say he is suffering with Angina, following the heart attack, but now he has to wait for them to check his results, and send him another appointment to see the specialist.
The doctor said that the pericarditus has cleared itself, but he is still in pain, and suffers with a shortness of breath. At 34 he should not be like this should he.

Huia, thank goodness you have the nursing home to care for Phil. It would be to much for you to have to cope with him now love.
He needs the 24/7 care they are giving him, and it would be such hard work for you. Plus you would lose the independance you now have. You enjoy working in the shop, and doing your bits of DIY don't you. As much as we may love our partners, we still need to be able to take ourselves away from the home situation at times.
Take care of that sore throat love, perhaps you could could gargle with some warm salt water to ease it.

Linda, I hope Sebastions scan went well, and they were able to decide what the real problem is for him.
It's lovely being retired, but with it seems to come other responsabilites. Ours is with baby Lilly. We are off to the hospital with her again on Thursday.
Last night she had very bad projectile vomiting again, so bad that my son rushed her to the hospital.
They got home at 2.30 this morning, and the paediatrician has bought her intolerence testing forward from the end of june to this thursday. As S cant stand needles, good old nan and grandad have been asked to help yet again.
The paediatrician said baby cant wait till the end of June, for testing to start.

My goodness Puss, well done on making all that money at the weekends. I bet the charity are grateful for any donations they receive, and you certainly are helping them babe.

Sallie, have you heard from Joyce, about how she got on today I mean. I wonder if Joyce contacted Caz about it as well. Still I am hoping that no news is good news at the end of the day.
I hope you are feeling o.k today our Sallie, keep that chin up my love, and smile for aunty Mo xxx

Sending (((((((((((((BIG HUGS FOR JEAN))))))))))))) coz I know she does look in occasionally, just to make sure we are behaving ourselves. lol ;-)

Wheres Sylvia got to I wonder....Hi Sylv's if you do look in.

Bye for now girls, take care my friends, love Mo xxx

Hello everyone
Mo I am glad your son has had his tests, even if he has to wait for the results. Sorry that baby Lilly has to have tests too, sounds like she has similar problems to my grandson. His ultra sound was good today, no needles and he was soooo good. The man doing the scan could find no problem, relief, and says because he was born early sometimes the muscle is immature and should in time tighten up. He is still on medicationBut he is gaining weight just slower than the clinic would like, he is the right % if he had been born at the due time.
I took the little hats in to the Special Care unit, they were very pleased, no sign of the blankets I had crocheted.

Hello ladies,

Caz, I'm sure that Joyce said it was today the 8th May she was going to the hospital.....that date stuck in my mind because of Mo telling us that Jason was also going to see the spaecialist on the same date, 8th May. I haven't heard anything from her so hope all went alright for her today.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow morning, hope they find that there is nothing for you to worry about. Also hope goes well at the dentist for you.
Hope your leg and ankle will feel a bit better tomorrow so that it won't be so painful to move about. I will be thinking about you and hoping that all will go well.

Mo, at least all the scans, blood tests and the other tests he had are now out of the way so that the Consultant can have a good look at them. Let's hope that it won't be too long before he hears about an appointment. As you say, at 34 he certainly shouldn't still be suffering pain and shortness of breath. The worry and stress over Lilly doesn't help him either, bless him. I hope all will go well with her scan at the hospital on Thursday, I will be thinking about you all.

Linda, good to hear that the scan went well for Sebastian today and that there is nothing to worry about, I'm sure you all feel relieved and happy.
I wonder where the blankets you crocheted for the baby unit, were.
They were probably all in the laundry. It's nice to know that the little hats you made were appreciated.

Puss, you did really well at the weekend with the sale of your bracelets. Well done.

Huia, hope you have sorted out the problem with your new scanner/printer by now.

Jean, if you are looking in, hope you, Roly and Debra are all well.

Mo as you say, it's a long while since we heard from Marie. Hope all is well with her and the family.

Joyce, if you are looking in, hope all went well for you today.

Thinking of Sylvia and Ann, and hope that you are both OK.

Speak to you all again tomorrow. Take care.

Hi Sallie
I think the blankets are sold for extra things in the unit so hopefully they are all being used to wrap the tinies when they take them out of the incubators. When they are in the cots they only have nappies on, as they have so many tubes and wires. Also the cots are heat controlled to 38C and seem very hot to us but it's to replace being in the womb, as most are born too soon.
