Hi all

I hope that you are all enjoying your Easter so far. My daughter isn't. She and her partner went with another couple to Pemberto on WA's South coast. It was so windy that one of the tents was ruined. Then attempting to cross a river on the way back from the camp site one of the 4 whell drives got bogged and sank to such an extent that the cabin had several inches of water through it. Said it was like a scene from a comedy film. When they retrieved the veicle and opened the doors, water just poured out.

Hi Allan~~
Oh dear that was nasty for your dau,as long as they are OK.... material things can be replaced.
We camped in Cornwall one very wet and windy August 1979 when they had that freak storm, many Yachts were damaged ,missing and lives lost during the Fastnet race.
Many tents got damaged on our site, many packed up and left during the night . Our tent was a six birth and quite heavy , we bought it 2nd hand, couldn't afford much in those days. It was a lovely modern tent and fortunately not being as lightweight as brand new ones, and good ground pegs it held firm and watertight. Bought it in1976 and waterproofed it every year before and after we used it..thankfully:) Spent most of that holiday in the cinema rather than the beach .lol

Kippers

Sandie, fortunately for my daughter, the mishaps all happened to the other couple. My daughter and her partner were using typical Aussie 'swags' which are basicaly sleeping bags with a canvas cover so they become a self contained mini tent
