Emily Perry appears on the 1911 census living with husband James and four children at 23 Victoria Rd, Acton. He remarried in Dec 1934, to Ada Mary Williams, I cannot find a divorce from Emily, nor her death. I would be very grateful for some help please.

I think I have found her birth 1866 (Headingley) which is Oxford. The census 1911 shows birth in Oxford. She is listed as Emily A Adams.

Do you know her maiden name??

Yes, without a certificate to prove I think the marriage is the one Dec 1896. Harold and Gladys are the same age (twins?). I am beginning to think there may have been a bigamous marriage to Ada (my grandmother). I have not looked for a death beyond the second marriage ! Maybe James was put under pressure to do the decent thing! There is talk in the family of the first wife (Emily) being catholic, so no divorce.

I can't see that ER for 1931?

I do see a an ER for Harold & Beatrice

Thank you everyone who has helped me, i am waiting for a copy of James' will, deceased 1940, probate granted to Ada, I that may throw some light on events. I think we now have the date of death of Emily Perry. Where do I find copies of the ER? Thanks again to all.
