I believe my relative William Crane was a public an at this establishment.

The pub was knocked down in 2003.

Just wondering if anyone has access to newspapers...are there any articles relating to this place?

Thank you in anticipation

William was born in 1874...so it would have been at the turn of the twentieth century that he was working there I should think. Sorry I just have put his birth date.

According to Wikipedia the pub was designed in 1937 so he must have worked there after this date. It was Art Deco in style:-

There's a photo at:

and at

https://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubpictures/22985/

Your relation would have been over 65 by the time the pub opened............

There are 6 articles in newspapers on Findmypast mentioning the Paviours Arms but they are from 1939 to 1949, so too late for your great grandfather's time.

Hi Malyon. I believed it had been knocked down in 2003

There are conflicting reports on the internet. Some say the building was knocked down in 2003 and others say it was closed down in 2003. I think there may be more than one Paviour's Arms in London, so not sure the reports are all talking about the same building.

The pub in question does not have a ‘U‘ in the name and was in Johnson Street, as per the link I posted

It is NOT the one in Page Street

IT IS THIS ONE

Paviors Arms, 42 Johnson Street, St John, Westminster
