Brick Wall My family have tried to trace back my great great grandfather for years now with no leads past 1901 Census.
——
1939 Reg. - 17 Russell Terrace, St Stephens, Saltash William T Basford - General Labourer Elizabeth Ann Basford (Scott) - Unpaid Amy E Basford - Domestic Servant - St Germans, Saltash
——-
Cen 1921 - CANT FIND
——
Cen 1911 - 17 Russell Terrace, St Stephens, Saltash (30) William Theodore Basford 4/9/1881 - Farmer Labourer - Born Landrake (30) Elizabeth Ann Basford - 27/11/1880 (7) George Henry Basford 1904 - St Germans, Saltash (5) Beatrice Mary Basford - 12/4/1905 - St Germans, Saltash (1) Violet May Basford - 11/4/1909 - St Germans, Saltash
Completed themselves and he states born in Landrake.
[Mention of 1 child who died] - Death Reg in St Germans FOUND - Ernest William Basford 1906-1907 Died 26 Dec 1907 - Likely their child
——
Married 1903 - Elizabeth Ann Scott - In Devonport, Devon (Same area)
——-
Cen 1901 (19) William Basford - Servant - Shillingham Farm, Saltash (This fits with area and occupation)
——
NOTHING BEFORE THIS LINKS
FOUND one William Basford 1881 BUT Born in Cheshire:-
Cen 1891 - Jack Lane, Weston, Cheshire (48) William Basford 1843 - Farmer - Wistaston, Cheshire (47) Elizabeth Basford 1844 - Wife - Crewe, Cheshire (21) Emma Basford 1870 - (19) Sarah Basford 1872 - Stepeley, Cheshire (13) Joseph Basford 1878 - Farmers Son - Weston, Cheshire (10) William Basford 1881 - Born Weston, Cheshire

——
Maybe he moved to Cornwall as it would fit with occupation as Farmer ? BUT:-
——
FOUND That William in Cen 1901 in Cheshire Still

Arthur Deneb (15) Stockman Cattle Emma Stenton (14) Domestic Servant
——-
So dead end again :(
——
I’ve even found a random
Ann Basford 1841 (20) - St Germans in Cen 1861 Working for a Captain Benjamin Hooper 1790 @ 6 Wellington Street, Torpoint (Same area, across water from St Germans, Saltash)
Completed by Benjamin so may have got her place of birth wrong?
——
So thought I’d trace her back to see if any links back to St Germans, Saltash as could find the parents of William T Basford that we can’t find.
Cen 1851 (48) George Basford 1803 Cotton Fluk (48) Elizabeth Basford 1803 (15) James Basford 1836 - Cotton Winder - (13) John Basford 1838 - Cotton Winder - (10) Ann Basford - Born Loughborough, Leicestershire (8) Elizabeth Basford - Scholar (4) Maria Basford - scholar
Cen 1841 using James as Ann likely not born yet - FOUND one possible but dates/ages out, but likely this one:-
(35) George (35) Elizabeth (15) Joseph (1837) (13) George (1828) (11) Mary (1830) (7) Thomas (1834) (4) James (1837) (2) John (1839)
Been trying to chace forward her brothers now to see if any links with st Germans - is this right?
Any help much appreciated !!
I’ve tried searching for newspapers in the area on here and some look promising, but the images are all blank on here for some reason - is it because I’m on an iPad?

The 1921 census won’t be released until next year.
Have you discovered the Cornwall OPC. They have a first class data base. Www.Cornwall-opc- database.org

Thanks. It shouldnt matter too much with 1921 census as would likely be in the same place... it’s his parents that I need to find, along with his birth place ect... b It may give another clue I guess.
I’ll check that data base out. Thankyou

Do you have the marriage certificate - if so, can you please post all the details from it - names, ages, occupations, Father's details, witnesses.
If not you should probably get it for the details it has.

Although he's listed as "visitor" in 1891, perhaps Bessie is his mother? - Or one of her siblings:
