Sallie, good luck with you bungalow visiting this weekend. Whilst driving through the area this morning to go to M******sons, I found myself subconsciously looking around for bungalows, and trying to guess where it is.
Hoping to go to Jacksdale Garden Centre tomorrow, another of our favourites, because they have given out rain which means OH can't get on the allotment. Hopefully on Sunday he will get down there, as he has six fruit trees to get in. I'm supposed to be baking bread and greenhouse pottering, planting up the plant plugs I am hoping to buy tomorrow. The gardening season has now really started for us.
Have a look at my thread on Chat about the Queen's visit to Derbyshire. It is meant very tongue in cheek.
Take Care and enjoy your viewing

Start saving your pennies now,for your notebook. I am willing to donate ten pence to it for you. lol Last off the big spenders I am. And no Jean I am not that tight, that when I walk I squeek. Ducks come to mind.

Sallie Report 20 Mar 2010 20:28

Hi Everyone,
I haven’t been on here for a couple of days, because I’ve been ‘bit by the card making bug ‘, so between that and looking for bungalows
I haven’t had time for much else. We went to see the bungalow that’s two roads away from Jennie’s house, this morning. Although it
only has two bedrooms, they are both double size rooms, a big living room and good size kitchen and bathroom, all going off a nice size hallway.
If we get it, we’ll have to get someone to fit a new kitchen for us, so we’ll get the people who fitted our kitchen in this house to do it . They are a small local family run firm, that are very good.

Jean, glad to know that you and J arrived home safely! It’s nice to have you back with us. Yes, you’ll have to save all your pennies so that you can buy a laptop, then you can still join in while you’re away. It looks as though you chose the right week for the weather, you couldn’t ask for better at this time of the year. I’m sure that the both of you were able to do all that you enjoy doing. The weather makes such a big difference to everything. Did you go to the craft shop, while you were there? I hope all is well with D. I’m sure that she’s pleased to have you both home again. So Jean, do you feel in the mood for crafting, again, now that you are refreshed from your holiday?

Julia, I’ve read both your threads on Chat. Although we’ve lived in Derbyshire for thirty one years, I didn’t even know that Cranfield Hall existed. We get off at junction 28 when we go to what use to be McArthur Glen, but I’ve never seen any signposts for it at all. If you and your OH go there, you’ll have to let us know what it’s like. I wonder if you will be in ‘residence at your hotel’ when the Queen and Prince Phillip visit there. I hope for your sake that you won’t be. If you are, you’ll just have to get the very best nightie money can buy, maybe a purple ( a Regal colour ) pure silk one, with matching dressing gown. Don’t forget, you also have to fly YOUR family standard over your ‘hotel’—you must let Royalty know that you are in ‘residence’. Let’s hope that the weather is better tomorrow, than it is today, so that your OH can get some work done on his allotment.

Debbie, I expect that both you and Peter are relieved to have the funeral over with. It’s nice to hear it went alright and that the weather was lovely for it. I’m sure that Peter didn’t realise until he seen so many people at the church, how well liked and respected his Dad was. He must feel very proud of the kind of person his Dad was. Did Daniel get off alright? I hope all is going well for him in Oldham. It sounds as though you had an enjoyable day out with your usual Thursday group. It’s great to sit, eat, relax and have a good natter with friends.

Sylvia, I don’t want to have to get rid of a lot of things if we move, because there are quite a few things that are of sentimental value. We certainly won’t have room to store all we have in a bungalow because there certainly isn’t the storage space that we have here. There again, I think that the more space there is, the more we are likely to fill it. Jennie is amazed by the amount of stuff we have kept over the years, she said there are so many things that we never use, and not ever likely to. I hope all is going well for baby MJ, and also for his Mum and Dad. Also hope you and OH are both well.
Sorry I've gone over the limit, so I'll have to continue below.

Sallie Report 20 Mar 2010 20:40

Liz, although I’m looking forward to moving to a bungalow, I’m not putting my mind on anything at the moment, because as you know things have a way of going pear shape. It’s such a stressful time buying and selling houses, isn’t it? How is OH over the last few days? I hope he’s still in a chirpy mood. Have you been able to have the car as you did at the beginning of the week?

Huia, I hope your son was able to visit you at the weekend. It would be nice for you to have company, especially to go to the university. Not sure of the time with you, but if you’ve already been to the open day, hope it all went as well as you were hoping it would. Have you been to see Phil over the last few days?If you have, I hope you found him as well as can be expected.

Mo, I hope all is well with you and Roly. It looks as though both of you have been busy over the last few days, helping your granddaughter to move into her new place. It brought a smile to my face, when you told us about her ringing Roly about her needing a cable for her cooker and that she was desperate for his help. It seems that young people these days hardly ever have much time to get in touch, due to the busy lives they lead, but when they need help they have all the time in the world, to either phone or call in. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel sure we were not like that when we were young. I’m not saying it about your granddaughter Mo, as we have the same thing in our family, and so have a couple of friends of ours. It makes me feel so cross! How is your granddaughter getting on? I hope she’ll get some good news from the hospital. I didn’t have to go to the therapist last Thursday, as she said that she would like to see how I cope with missing a week, so after discussing it together, we both agreed to try it. I go to my normal appointment next Thursday. I must say she has helped me a lot, although the first three to four weeks I felt a lot worse, but over the weeks just by talking to her, she’s made me start to face my demons. Both you and Roly take care, and don’t go over doing things.

Marie, good to hear that you are still going to the gym and that you’re also doing water aerobics. I wish I had your energy. I hope that Jaimien’s a lot better now, bless him, being ill on his first birthday too. Nice to hear the three of you enjoyed the birthday lunch and also your dinner and birthday cake later on in the evening. It will be nice when you can start the album, hope it won’t be too long before you can. The problem is that once you start you won’t want to do anything else.

Ann, hope all is okay with both you and T. I’m quite pleased that I’ve made eight cards, and now started on the ninth one. I don’t think they’re too bad for my first attempt, but hopefully I’ll get better as I go along. I’ve been having a go at stamping, not on the cards I’ve made, but just trying it out. It looks alright, but not too sure what to use to colour it in. I’ll have to go on your Scrapbooking and Craft thread, to see if someone can give me some advice.
Well, I think I’ve waffled on enough you’ll all be falling asleep reading it.

Love and best wishes.

Well that was a marathon Sallie. Buying and selling houses is very stressful, I am never sure whether you should sell first and then buy or vice versa. You have seen a bungalow you like but not sold your house. I hope nobody else comes along and snaps it up before you sell. I just keep looking round and imagining it was us..... Nope, can't fit a quart into a pint pot. It would take 6 months to downsize this lot!
Good luck with it anyway, hope you get what you want.

Hi Sallie,I really enjoyed your novel. I think your fingers must ache now.LOL.
I remember your saying now, that the therapist didn't want to see you for a week. Honestly, the older I get the worse I get.
The bungalow you looked at sounds delightful. Two bedrooms is plenty enough for you, isn't it. Is the garden a good size as well.
I think most people change the kitchens when they move, don't they. It's nice to start from scratch.
It's funny you know,I saw my grandaughters, younger sister today. And when I told her about her sister ringing her grandad, and what it was for,she could not believe it. She called her a silly so and so,and said she is old enough to stand on her own two feet so why isn't she. This is coming from a 17yr old,who has more sense than a 23yr old.
You are so right about the younger generation, needing support constantly.
We never hear from her unless she wants something or another. As much as I love her,I feel like giving her a shake some times.

Hi everyone

Huia ........ love and hugs for today. I hope you managed to find something fun to do. ((((((((xxxx)))))))

We went to Ikea this morning .............. but only to the little shop. A friend we stayed with on our last visit to England in 2008 introduced me to Elderflower cordial. I really liked it, but had never heard of it before, nor of course seen it over here. Then I saw an Ikea ad saying they were stocking it in their shop. I bought a couple of bottles when we went there in early February, now I need a re-stocking :)) So I persuaded OH to drive me down there.

Sallie ...... MJB was doing well when I talked to J the other day, he had his first checkup last Tuesday, and checked out well. J was disappointed to be told it could take to the end of next week before her pain went away!

Huia, the photo looks lovely and your dress was beautiful,

Sallie, dont apologise for writing I love to read all the news , I have just found another pile of craft mags, we managed to get up int the eves were they were stored along with all sorts of rubbish, it is fun looking at them all, most of them were when I srated card making, 2005 onwards, and I have to say basic card making hasnt changed much, only now its more designer stuff...

J and I would have loved a bungalow, but that was before D came to live with us after her divorce, and she is still here !! S thankfully moved out some years ago.....I so wish we could move, the noisy one next door has no idea how to be a neighbour, 6.30 this morning music on full shouting over it... now its all quite .D said our other neighbour went and played eck
when we were away, another all night get together....so I am npw as stressd as I was before we went !!! I had a word with her before we went and she promised to be more aware of the folk around her,,, and she has started borrowing , cigs of D using the phone offering to pay but never does, so she is in for a big shock when We say no when she asks again... but it does cause a lot of upset....

Now where is our leader, come on Mo, dont think you can hide away now I am back...btw, I have renewed, just to keep you on your toes....lol....

Liz thanks for the message, I will answer you soon , when I finally finish the unpacking, is it worth it I ask myself.... so loads of washing also...

Is Marilyn still away? Debbie, are the daffs out yet? usually there are pics on the tv showing flowers from Jersey, but things seem to be later this year....today is lovely here after the awful rain yesterday, hope it last a nother week, we will most likely have the odd day out....

Big (((((((((((((( X )))))))))))) to Marie ,sylvia Ann, and anyone else i have missed....

Huia, what a lovely wedding photograph. Your cake looked so good as well. Did you keep a layer off it for when the children came along.
I hope your day was not to traumatic.
Thank goodness we have got our Jean for at least another six months girls. We would miss her, that I do know. And I have got six months to tease her, yippee.
Jean,I think we should all come up to your house, and have an all night party,to keep your unsociable neighbour awake.
Don't worry,we will start the music up very loud. Put tapes on off people shouting and enjoying themselves. Then we will lock up,and all go to a hotel for the night. See how much she enjoys that, nasty nasty woman.
I hate people who are borrowers, and non returners. I dare say most off us have met someone like that during our lifetimes.
My mum always said,"never a borrower or a lender be", and that is so true.
Yes Jean,Marilyn is still away. She logged onto the friendlies thread, yesterday. But the internet connection,on board the ship is not very good,so she went to an internet cafe,in I believe it was Aukland.
She has not run off with the ships captain, she says he is not really her type. lol
Sylvia, I believe that a lot off health food shops over here, sell elder flower
cordial. We also have a lot off Ikea shops here now. They were not so well known when they first opened though, but now, my goodness, they do a roaring trade.
How much weight has young Matthew gained now.? I bet he is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Ann, is it next weekend that you start your holiday.? Are you all packed and ready to go. I do hope he weather over there has brightened up for you.
Sallie I love to read all your news, keep it up please. As I feel like you are sitting in the room with me when I read your books....ahem I mean news.
It's your turn to be teased today,if you notice. lol
Bye for now girls,I will pop back later this evening.
Love to all. Mo xxx

Hello Girls,

Jean, couldn't you get the police to those inconsiderate and noisy people
next door? Surely, something can be done to stop them having the all
night parties that they seem to hold on a regular basis. She's also got a lot of cheek borrowing cigs off D, as you say she's got a shock coming to her. I've just told Alun about her, he said, ' Oh she not only doesn't considerate her neighbours, but she's a scrounger too'. I'm certain he's right!

Mo, I'm pleased that you enjoyed reading my ' book ', at least it giave you something to read and savesd you the cost of buying one. Alun, Jennie and Michael have done nothing but take the mick out of me today. They find it really funny that I wrote so much, 6029 characters. Oh well, I don't mind them laughing at me, as I laugh at myself . Mo can you please tell me where Huia has posted her and Phil's wedding photo, I would love to see it, but I don't know what she means by the 'photo page'.

I'm off to finish the card I'm making, so I'll speak to you all later.

Love, Sallie xxx

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 22 Mar 2010 01:22

Lovely photos of Huia and Phil, that's something I can never leave my son, as I never made anything legal lol

Bit tired tonight as got up early, o.h. was supposed to go to his father's and then back in time to wake me with a cuppa to go out to a National Trust place in Norfolk for the freebie visit. I heard lots of clomping about, had already been woken by neighbour and small grandson shouting, that child has never been taught to speak at a normal volume, he always yells, and then thought I heard o.h. go. I was already thirsty so thought I would get myself a drink and go back to sleep for a couple more hours. Went down to see o.h. in a real paddy, asked why he hadn't gone out and he said the car wouldn't start, the battery was flat! My heart sank as the other week I left the inside light on in the car, by mistake, and if the neighbour hadn't knocked and told me the light was on, he would have had to charge the battery. Then I remembered he used the car last this time - phew! My sigh of relief was in vain, this is a man who keeps jump leads in the garage not in the car (say no more!!!!) and despite my efforts to keep a set in the boot, for emergencies, they weren't there. He had obviously used them and put them somewhere and couldn't remember where, and in hunting for them, found some bags of my papers that I hadn't sorted but had put in the garage temporarily. He was fuming with me as he said the leads were behind the bags, but I think he must have dropped them behind there as I wouldn't have put the bags on top of them. I got it in the neck and he was yelling and shouting at me and as I was tired, I got upset. It turns out the stupid man came home from work on Saturday in the car, and left the key in the ignition, not properly turned off, so he hadn't locked the car and the battery was flat. He couldn't visit his father and was mad at me, I was tired and upset and the last thing I felt like was going out!

After a while he calmed down, charged the car up as the neighbour had gone out so he couldn't get a jumpstart, and I did get ready and we went to the Nat. Trust place which was a lovely old hall, and beautful grounds not far from Cromer where we went for Mother's Day. He even managed to take a wrong exit off a roundabout that he has driven round a million times and then I had to direct him, he couldn't remember us going that way just a week ago. I think his memory is getting worse and I can't stand the thought of being stuck with him if he loses his memory much more, it's a nightmare as it is reminding him of everything and then having to repeat myself constantly, I can't relax at all. He is only 56.

Huia Report 22 Mar 2010 03:12

Liz, I was told that leaving the inside light on in the car would not drain the battery overnight. Ours has been on overnight a few times and we had no trouble starting the vehicle in the morning. Now headlights, that would be a different matter.

My sympathies to you with your problems. Or should that be problem?

Huia.
