Hi, Mo, how are you all at your house? J doesnt go until the 28th of this month, ...I overdid it working on the album, but at least its done now, so I havent been crafting for two whole days, I really have been so tired,I am getting to old for all this running around, I have just got some earplugs, just in case it all kicks off tonight...lol..

Glad to hear you are feeling better Sylvia, dont you go overdoing it trailing round the mall....

Huia, are you getting any respite from your itching, ... I hope your blinds were drawn when you decided to bare all...the mind boggles.....lol....I also hope Phil gets some help with the itching, too... they should keep a check on the people in their care...

Marie. you sound like I feel but I havent been doing much of anything, time you rested I think, we dont want you to get poorly....

Sallie , you havent been buying craft stuff have you? I cant understand women who just buy and buy craft stuff,,,,rofl...... not me......

Hello again,it's only little old me.
It's good to hear you are feeling better Sylvia. But I hope you are not overdoing things.
It's strange that the manufacturers off childrens clothes,have not taken into account,that little boys trousers need poppers fitted to them.
Obviously they need their nappies changing,and I remember what it's like trying to pull babies trousers down to change them. Both my boys used to be thrown around like rag dolls,in the process off changing them.
What a shame you couldn't have gone to Calgary with your OH. His room sounds big enough to have catered for both off you.

Ooops sorry Jean,I got my dates mixed up. I thought J had hospital this week.
I do hope the ear plugs work,and you get a good nights sleep,tonight and tommorrow night.
We are both o.k, just plodding along.
I hope to go and see our two youngest grandchildren tommorrow. My son has them for the weekend.
It is supposed to be warmer tommorrow, I sure hope it is. We are once again sitting here with the gas fire on. Brrrr

A little while after I went back to bed there was a clap of thunder, so I got up again and unplugged the power to the computer and also the things in the jackpoint that go to the computer and the small cordless phone. There wasnt much thunder though and it didnt come very close, but at least it couldnt have harmed computer and phone if it had been.

Phils hospital is usually very good but maybe the wrong person looked at him and didnt recognise the cause for his itch. Even my doc who says she has had scabies wasnt sure that is what I have as I dont seem to have the tunnels that the mite causes, or at least they are not visible. Maybe it isnt scabies that Phil and I have, in which case I wonder what else it could be, that can be passed on through touch. I am told the itching can last a week after the treatment, so I have a cream to apply.

Jean, I should have added that my curtains are pulled closed, and anyway I am very isolated up here. The nearest neighbours are about half a kilometre away and we dont get much traffic up the road at night.

Hi All,

Later getting home than intended. We had to go and get some bits and bobs, as we haven't done our usual weekly shop, because A--a's has been closed for four days. So we went to M------n's just to get what we needed. We then went to see Jennie and Michael, and stayed longer than we had first intended.

No Mo and Jean, we didn't go looking for craft stuff today, but I won't completely rule it out for some time over the weekend. You're certainly right Mo, about going going to H--------t, I have to keep Alun happy while I'm looking at all the lovely craft stuff. I must admit that I usually spend more there than he does. There's method in my madness, you know . lol!

Jean, a few days rest will do you good. I really hope that there'll be no noise from next door over the weekend.

Huia, I hope the itching isn't as bad as it's been and that the ointment will help whatever it is to go.

Sylvia, good to hear that your leg is much better and are now able to get about. Hope you can get some little trousers that you want for MJ.

Good evening girls (and morning to Marie when she wakes). It is a nice sunny morning here, but I dont know how long it will last. Yesterday we had sunshine, then thunder and rain, then back to sunshine etc. Not good when you have a lot of washing to dry on the lines. I will visit Phil today, but wont stay long and wont touch him. I dont want to be re-infected, or re-infect him if it is scabies I have. It has to be something contagious anyway as he had been scratching so much, but I will just see if he still is, and I will be asking the person in charge some questions.

Heard, and saw, an F18 fighter jet screaming overhead about two hours ago

Radio reported about 90 minutes ago that TWO F18s were escorting a 737 passenger plane from over the Pacific into Vancouver Airport. One F18 flying alongside the cockpit of, and very close to, the 737. The other F18 following behind


Further report about 1 hour ago ................ a Cathay Pacific 737 from Hong Kong had landed safely at Vancouver Airport. There are unconfirmed reports that it was a "security threat"

....... not much more information on why the F18s, but the passengers are currently being "assessed", still in the plane out on the tarmac away from the airport buildings.

Huia, it's been a nice day here today, managed to get all the washing dried, including the bedding. I hope that whatever Phil has had, it's now better. Good idea to have a word with someone at the home, hopefully they can tell you what the the problem isor was.

Sylvia, I was just having a quick look in when I seen your post. I wonder what the problem was. It's frightening to think what might have been or still is on board the plane. Alun thought that there might have been something about it on our midnight news, but there's been nothing so far.

Apparently Phil was referred to Dermatology on Friday. I dont know why it has taken them so long to look into his itching though. It must be at least 2 months that he has had it and I have commented on it often enough. In every other way I have been happy with the care there, but it does concern me that he has something which appears to be contagious, since I have been itchy for a month now, although I havent noticed too many of the other residents or the carers scratching. I hope I will hear the results of his tests in a few days.

Huia, I am sorry both you and Phil seem to have something unpleasant and hope that Phil can have his itching identified and treated very soon, poor man must be in agony after all this time.
It's a nuisance when you need to put something like cream or lotion on your back and you live alone isn't it? I got an applicator, it's meant to be for suntan lotion etc and it came from Avon cosmetics but I got it at a boot sale, brand new, for 50p. I did take it on holiday but used o.h. instead as it was quicker lol when I needed sun cream applied. Hope you feel less itchy soon.

I am feeling a bit swamped at the mo, lots going on - just read about yet another relative's death on Friday, in the local paper. She was the wife of a late cousin of mine, he died while I was in Malta in 2007 so I couldn't get to his funeral - I hadn't seen him in ages as he was in a home and didn't recognise anyone. After his death his wife went downhill rapidly and had to go to a home near her daughter who lives in Birmingham, as she developed Alzheimers. Her daughter and I are in touch by email now and then as she is working on my maternal family tree, so when I saw the announcement of her Mum's death by the remaining sisters of her Mum, I emailed to let her know I had seen the news as I don't have an address for her. Seems the cremation will be in Birmingham as the son lives near there and also a sister in law too, so I will hopefully be able to go to the service here in Norwich sometime in June when her remains can be put with her late husband's at a local church. At least I will see the relatives as I haven't seen this part of the family for years since we were young. We haven't been close so it doesn't upset me hugely altho I am sad that S. and J. had to end their lives in homes and not really knowing where they were.
Living family are getting fewer and fewer, sadly.

Today is the 15th anniversary of my Mum's death, and yesterday would have been another cousin's 67th birthday, he died nearly two years ago after living for several years with the results of a dreadful motorbike accident.
Monday is my youngest brother's 58th birthday but we aren't close so no cards exchanged, they don't bother with me or my son's birthday these days, so I shan't bother with him.

I had a call from my step niece, stepdaughter of my other brother - I haven't heard from her in years! She said her little daughter has chickenpox and the other one is sure to come down with it, just as they are due to go to Majorca on holiday. Seems my bro is steering clear of them as he is terrified of getting chicken pox at the age of 60, and said he doesn't remember having any childhood illnesses.
My stepniece said she was sure I would remember so was ringing to find out, blasted cheek! As it happens I can't really recall him having c.pox but I know I did, so he probably caught it off me. I can remember him having mumps so blow him saying he never had these illnesses.
The stepniece is actually quite a nice young woman, but I find it hard as she is 6 months older than my daughter would be. Her mother is a nasty piece of work tho and my parents didn't much like her, just glad she took my bro off their hands as at 31 I think they thought he would never leave home for good, he had moved out and then back a few times and my parents just wanted their home to themselves. My brother is a big chap and quite arrogant and surly so it was a trial having him under their feet and Mum having to do his washing etc and cooking meals for him at odd hours.

Huia, pleased to hear that they've referred Phil to see Dermatologist. Let's hope that they will now be able to find out the cause of the itching--hopefully you can get your itching sorted out too.

Sylvia, have you heard anymore about the security alert at the airport? Even if it was a false alarm, no one can blame the security people for being over cautious. Hope your OH is home safely from Calgary. Hugs and kisses to MJ.

Liz, there certainly seems to be a few deaths in your family lately. I think a lot of families have that happen---in the past we've it's happened in our family a couple of times. The last time it happened like that was when Alun's mother, my uncle and an auntie who I was close to all died within two weeks of each other. Alun's mother spent three month's in hospital before she died, so we travelled to Wales and back every two weeks. Towards the end, with my uncle in hospital and my auntie, we were then
going to Wales and back, twice a week.


Where is everyone else today, hope you are all okay.

My goodness,what the heck is happening to this world.
Sylvia, how frightening it must have been for the people on that flight.
Is there any more news about it yet.
If it was me who looked out of the window and saw the fighter jets,I really believe I would have had a bad panic attack,and have tried to get out off the door.
As you can tell,we don't fly anymore.
The threat off bombings,is so much becoming a way off life for airlines these days isn't it.

Oh Huia,thank god they are at last doing something for poor Phil. It must have been driving him round the bend all this time.
It's so annoying when you get an itch right in the middle off your back,and you just can't quite reach it.
Thats when the door post comes in very handy. If anyone was peeping through my curtains,watching me, using the door post as a scratching pole, they would think I was barmy.

Liz,what bad luck you have been having lately,with all the losses in your
family. It has to change for the better soon though love.
I don't blame you for not bothering with your brothers birthday. After all it should be a two way street.
And your other brother sounds like he has had his own way,most off his life. Even now he sounds pretty selfish,but then I suppose he is a man,
if he caught chicken pox from the little ones,he would not let them hear the end off it.
Even if he has had chicken pox,he could catch it again,or even get shingles. Ahhhh shame.

Hi Sallie. Have you got the family over for sunday dinner today. I know that they normally come to you.
Did Richard ever get that electric bill sorted out. Has he had any luck with a job yet.
My son has had no success yet. But his Fiance starts work on the 24th of this month. She has been more lucky than him,she has had several interviews,and was successful with the last one.

One off my grandaughters,is due to go to Cypress next sunday. It's a school trip,that was cancelled the last time round,because off the volcanic ash. But it could be called off again because the ash is on it's way back to us again.
She will be so dissapointed,to have it cancelled twice.

I wonder if our Jean is awake. I do hope that they did not get disturbed last night.

Mo, you sound just the same as Alun, when his back is itching in a place he can't reach, he always uses the door post. Jennie says it's his impersonation of Baloo in Jungle Book, which I must admit he does rather well.lol. I hope your granddaughter will be able to go Cyprus this time---just wish the volcano would stop so that at least people could go on the holidays that they've planned. It's so disappointing for them all.

Southern Electric now think that they had the wrong reading, as Richard never get's a card so that he can read the meter himself. No one comes to read the meter either, so he's only had estimated bills for a very long time, the bill that they sent him for £937 is from a reading that the Meter Man last read in 2005. So it's still not sorted, but I think they are getting there slowly.

Richard still hasn't found a job, so far he's applied for well over three hundred jobs, and he's only had a few replies. So he's feeling very despondent at the moment.

As you thought Mo, Jennie and Michael came for Sunday dinner, as usual.
Very rarely they miss coming. I don't mind, I love it when they're here.
Did you go and see you younger grandchildren today. It's lovely to see them when you don't see them as often as you would like to. Hope they are okay.

I hope Jean is alright, we haven't heard from her for a few days.

If I can remember rightly I think Debbie told us she's going to be very busy with some of the activities that the children do, and that she wouldn't be posting too often for the time being.

Hi Sallie.
We went to see the grandchildren yesterday.
They were so excited,my son had bought two kittens. A little black one,and a tortoise shell one. The little tortoise shell one,was very dopey yesterday,and did not look to good.
At 8.45 this morning,our son phoned in a panic, " Dad,I think the kitten is not breathing, what do I do ". So Roly told him what he thought he should do for the kitten,and to phone the R.S.P.C.A.. Roly got straight in the car,and went over there,thinking he would have a trip to the vets ahead.
About ten minutes later,he arrived back home. My son,his children,his fiance,were all in tears. Roly said the poor wee thing had got rigor mortice setting in,when he arrived at the house.
So back home he came,to get a box and spade,to bury the poor little thing in their garden.
The children asked their daddy to make a cross for the grave. Bless them
they had only just met the kitten,and could not understand why it had died.
They have never suffered a loss before,and it hit them quite hard.
We did say when they bought the kittens,earlier in the week,that they would have been better off,getting a cat from the cats protection league.
It would not surprise me,if my son goes to the woman who sold them the kitties in the first place,and has a go at her.
But we will never know,if the poor thing was ill from the beggining.

Sorry I got the days mixed up, I should watch the dates on the page a bit more carefully.

I can imagine that they were all upset about the kitten dying. There certainly must have been something wrong with it when your son bought it.
Is the other kitten alright? I'm sure that your son will keep a close eye on it even more now, since the other poor little thing has gone. I wonder if it would do any good reporting it to the RSPCA. You would have thought that the person that sold them, would have noticed that one of them wasn't very well.

The weather is clouding over, but it is still pretty warm


It seems that the bomb thread was a hoax ............... someone phoned in to either the police or the airline to report a bomb on the plane. Hence the fighter jets being sent up.

They have seemingly discovered that the call was made from a public phone box in Vancouver.


The passengers were allowed to leave the airport 2 or 3 hours after the plane landed .......... but they did not get their luggage. That was still being searched and checked last night, and the passengers were told they would be sent their bags "later".


The fighter jet pilots apparently have the right to shoot down a plane in a situation like this if it is deemed that a) the plane is under the control of someone other than the official crew, and b) there is a major threat to people on the ground (eg by flying into a building).


OH and I had a big discussion about the rights and wrongs of that last night!


Of course, that is all a result of 9/11.


Mo ........ I wasn't panicked when the plane went over ....... in fact I didn't even look out, OH was at the window and told me which way it was flying.


We do occasionally get F18s flying over, although we do not have an airforce base nearby. A squadron was stationed at Vancouver Airport for the Winter Olympics, and did a bit of flying around.

And the last time I really paid attention was last November 11 when 5 of them screamed overhead just before and then just after the Ceremonies downtown.


So I don't see them as a threat ....... just a horrendous noise!

Hello girls.
How are we all today. It's another lovely day here today. I have just come in from the garden. I have been tying back my honey suckle,and my other climbers. They have gone crazy with all the rain we have been having. It seems like they have shot out all over the place suddenly.
Oh I forgot to tell you, our Jean and J have gone away for a few days.
She sends everyone her love,and will pop in and see us when she gets back.
Right I am going to make a cup off tea now,my tongue is hanging out.
