Hi all

I am now trying Arnica on the back of my knee and the hamstring .... I didn't realise until a friend told me yesterday that we could buy it over here!

I go for my annual squish tomorrow ........... that is, Thursday!!

wish me luck.

I have to go every year for ever, as I had breast cancer in 1995.

Good luck Sylvia, that's a great name for the mammogram, I had mine a short time ago, not nice but soon over and forgotten till the next one!

Love to all, fell asleep watching tv a while ago so not much time on here, not that there are many threads anyway, once was the time I would plough through ten pages every night, now it's often only 2 or 3.

Hello girls.
I have just recieved the results off my mammogram as well. All is well thank goodness. They stop doing them in this country when women reach the age off 70,so a few more years left for me yet.

Sylvia, I thought Arnica was used to bring bruises out. I do hope you get
back on your TWO feet very soon, you poor thing, you are so accident prone
Don't forget what I said once before,we are going to have to wrap you in foam rubber,so that when you fall, you will bounce back up again.

Liz,I don't know what is happening on these boards. As you said, there are only two or three pages, every day.
I think that a lot off people are afraid to post, because off all the trouble that has been happening recently.
I have to agree, that I normally stick to the threads off the people I feel safe with.
I found that when I added to some threads,I was totally ignored,so did not bother anymore with them.
Is there any more news on the baby at your end. My son's fiance was sent home from work yesterday, because she was unwell. I don't some how think they will keep her on in the job. They have started to quote health and safety at her. Yesterday the reason they sent her home ,was that they were afraid that she would be sick on someone. The poor girl has got terrible morning sickness at the moment.

I wonder what has happened to Sallie, she has not been on for a few days.
I know she is going away at the weekend, but surely she has not shut herself in her suitcase.lol

A big hello to Jean,Marie,Ann,Huia,Debbie and all our cyber friends.
Bye for now. Love to all. Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Hope this is the second time lucky, I'd almost finished writing one message when I lost it, so I'll try again.

Jean, if you're looking in, I really hope that you'll start feeling better soon, you know that we are here for you anytime. I'm not sure if I'm right, but I feel sure that J goes for his check up at the hospital tomorrow, if it is, hope that all goes well for him.

Mo, we go down to Richard's tomorrow, we're looking forward to seeing both him and Christie. Although I don't think the weather forecast is very good for the weekend, we're supposed to be having heavy rain.

I've been to the Counsellor today, she's very pleased with the progress I'm making. I have three more sessions left with her, so I'm not sure what happens then, I'll just have to wait and see. To think that at first, I wasn't too keen on her, but she's really nice now that I've got to know her.

Sylvia, hope your leg is a lot better and are able to get about a bit more now. Take care of yourself.

Liz, Huia, Ann, Marie, and Debbie thinking about you all.

Well, it's taken me a while to get this written, as my brother and sister-in-law rang just as I started this for the second time.

I'm taking the laptop to Richard's, so if I get time, I might look in at the weekend.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and take care!

Love and best wishes.

Sallie ..... safe trip, and have fun, even if it does rain!

Mo ....... I asked a couple of years ago if they would stop giving me mammograms when I reached 70 ........ got a very firm NO, you'll have to continue coming in evey year as long as you are able to get here.

That's because I have to have diagnostic not screening mammograms. I had breast cancer and a mastectomy in 1995, lucky enough not to have to have any further treatment.

BUT the cancer was only found in a mammogram, it was far too deep to be felt by anyone ......... even the surgeon couldn't feel it with the xray in front to her showing her where it was.

We also know that it had developed in the 4½ years since I'd had a mammogram. So I was very lucky.

take care everyone

Bless you Sylvia, yours is a definate reason why I believe that mammograms, should be given to all women, regardless off age. I also think that smear tests should last a womans life time.
Right I will now get off MY soap box.
I hope everyone is well, and those off us in the U.K,are enjoying our lovely weather. Lets hope it continues over the bank holiday weekend,so that those who are still working, can enjoy it.
I am now going to go back in the garden,to do a few more bits.
Bye for now girls. Love Mo xxx

Mo in Kent Report 28 May 2010 16:14

Cooeee Ann,welcome home. What does it feel like to be back in this country. You will miss being able to laze by the pool, drinking tequila. LOL

When I went for my mammogram, the woman doing it said that it would be stopping at seventy, but that it could be continued if you requested it,but as a general rule women did not bother.
I think that todays woman,is more aware off what could go wrong with their bodies, and tend to take more care in general.
Things have improved so much over the years.

Hi Mo and everyone

The one I wish they would develop a test for is ovarian cancer ............... it's usually so far advanced by the time it causes any problems that it's too late.

My cousin in Australia died of that .......... diagnosed in 1995, continual chemo etc, died 2001.

Rainy, showery, cloudy, sunny ... and cool!

welcome home Ann

take care everyone

Hi All,

Just a quick look in while I've got a bit of time.

Pleased that that the weather is a lot nicer today, it's a bit windy, but it's dry.
Alun and Richard really enjoyed themselves at the GWR Museum yesterday, they could actually walk down underneath the steam engines, so were happy that they could see how the engines were built. Christie and I had a look at the shops in the Designer Shopping Centre, so I was able to get two boxes of some nice card at the Paper Mill, and a couple of other craft bits and bobs, so I was happy.

Ann, lovely to see you home again, we missed you while you were away. So pleased to know that both you and T had a lovely holiday.

Sylvia, I know it was a while ago, but I'm really happy for you that you survived breast cancer, it's great to hear that you and people like you can beat the horrible disease. Hope all is well with MJ and his mum and dad.

Mo, we go home later on today, as we have a couple of jobs to do tomorrow, so we're hoping that it won't be too busy on the roads later. We were held up for an hour and a half on the way down, because of an accident, so lets hope it that it won't be the same tonight.

Hope everyone else is alright, I'll speak to you all when I get home. Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday.

Love and best wishes.

Hello Sallie.
It's good to hear from you. It's nice to hear that you have both had a good weekend.
I hope the travel back has been a lot easier for you.
Did you treat yourelf to anything nice whilst you and Christie were out. Apart from the card that is.
We had a visit from the two youngest grandchildren today. It's my sons turn to have them. So he and his fiance, took them to a boot fair.
They were so chuffed with themselves, they bought a pair off in line skates each, and they bought grandad, two buddha's,as Roly collects them.
It's been a long standing joke in the family, that Roly looks like a buddha.
Bless the children, they spent their pocket money on the presents for Roly.
I want to go up to Evans tommorrow. They have a 30% off sale at the moment. And we have three special occasions coming up in June.
A 40th wedding anniversary,my grandaughters 18th birthday,and Roly's cousins 70th birthday.And I need some new clothes anyway.
Roly has not seen his cousin since they were teenagers. So when the invitation arose,I said we should go,as he may never get the opportunity to see him again. After all, none off us are getting any younger.

I do hope everyone is well,as we have not had many people popping in to speak to us over the weekend.
Take care one and all.
Special (((((((((HUGS for Jean, hope you feel better soon.))))))))))
Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Hi everyone. Mo, I was going to say I missed the sun, but it was a glorious day here today and we spent a lot of it out doing the garden which looked like a jungle when we got back, everything had grown and the clematis were like triffids sending their tendrils everywhere.

Can't miss the pool as we were in an apartment that doesn't have a pool, do miss the people and the way of life which is much more relaxed.

Hi Mo and everyone

we're having miserable weather here ........... cloudy, rainy, and cold enough to put the central heating back on!!

I talked to J this afternoon .... they're doing well, and MJ seems to be getting over the gas problem. I could hear him on the phone .... he's "playing" with his voice at the moment, making some rather strange noises!!.

The leg is slowly healing again .... just have to make sure I don't try to hurry for the bus again!

I need to get back to being able to do at least the small amount of walking that I was doing ........ some extra pounds keep trying to creep on!

Glad to hear you had a great time Ann, nice to see you back.

Safe trip home Sallie.

If I go missing, you can blame Liz. She sent me an email with a website named and I looked at it and now I am hooked. It 'grows on you.' Lots of pictures of flowers and fungi and suchlike. I signed up (free) and have added 3 pics of my own and will be adding more.

Today I went to see Phil. He had an appointment at Middlemore hospital, the gastroenterology dept. It was about the weight loss he had earlier this year and the fact that he hasnt put on much weight despite all the feeding up that his private hosp. has been doing. It is thought he might have bowel cancer, although not investigated very deeply. Because of his age and condition they wouldnt operate, even if it was confirmed, just keep him pain free. He seems more alert, even looks at me occasionally now. And talks a bit more, although I cant understand half of what he says as it is quiet and slurred. But I am much happier about him.

Ann,I wonder why it is that when we go away, our gardens seem to get a big spirt on,and the weeds seem to take delight in surpassing everything else. Even though we may have killed the blighters off, before our departure, they come back twofold.
My honeysuckle is looking really lovely,I can't wait for it to come into full bloom. The buds are there just waiting to open. And the aroma from it is
splendid,when it does fully flower.
I am pleased you had such a good holiday though. Not long now till the next one then. Is it worth unpacking. lol

Sylvia, it's good to hear that little MJ is getting over his gassy problems, bless his little cotton socks.
I love it when they first realise that they have got a voice. It's as if they can't believe, that the sound coming from their mouth is actually them.
Before this they only cry,and are not aware of the sound themselves. Even though we as parents, think to ourselves, "oh forgoodess sake be quiet.and stop crying ",but it is their way off expanding their lungs.
I was told this by my doctor, when my eldest was just a few weeks old.
I could not understand, why she was crying, when she had had a bottle, and a clean nappy, and was winded as well.
Oh well I suppose thats having been so young when I had her. I was really a mere babe myself, and hadn't got a clue. 17 years old is not really an advisable age to have a child, when you are as green as I was.
Will you stop running for flippin buses woman. Get yourself a skate board,
you MAY be a bit safer on that, than you are on your own two legs. pmsl.

Huia,I wonder if the web site that Liz sent you,is the one that was mentioned on the friendlies thread.
Oh for goodness sake, your poor Phil has cetainly been through the mill lately.
But I am pleased for you that he is taking more notice off you. At least that way,you don't feel like it has been a wasted journey.
How is Liz,she has not been on for a few days?. I dare say mr cheerful has been home for the bank holiday weekend, and has made her more depressed. Miserable old B*gg*r that he is.

Sallie are you home yet. Come in chuck where are you. Let us know you got home safetly.

Hi Girls,

Well as you all can see I'm home safe and sound, thank you all for your good wishes for a safe journey. I've managed to get a couple of jobs done, and then started making some cards ready for Fathers Days. Mo, I didn't get anything to wear, didn't see what I liked, and when I did, it was way too expensive.

Did you manage get to Evans today? If you did, I hope that you were able to get something you liked, ready for the three celebrations you have in June. It was nice for you to see your two grandchildren over the weekend, I bet Roly was really chuffed with his Buddha.

Ann, it looks as though you and T have been busy in the garden since you're home---at least the weather's been okay, so that you could get it done.

Huia, glad to know that Phil was more alert when you seen him, and that he actually spoke a little bit to you, although it wasn't always easy to know what he said.

Sylvia, I bet you were thrilled to hear MJ's baby noises while you were on the phone to J. I'm so pleased that he seems to be getting over his gas problems. Sending him hugs and kisses!

Jean, if you're looking in, I hope you are starting to feel a little bit better. I know that it takes a long time. All the best for a good and fairly quick recovery. Also hope that all is well with both J and D. Sending you all our good wishes!

Alun's just made us both a cuppa, so I'm going to drink it while it's hot. Speak to you all tomorrow.

Love and best wishes. Sallie xxxx

Hi Sallie,
I did get to Evans, buttttt I chose two really lovely skirts, went to try them on,and guess what, they were to flippin big for me. I normally have to get a size 16,so I think that there sizes may be different to M+S.
I went to all the local shops,in the Sava Centre, and I ended up with nothing
So tommorrow we will be going into Chatham,if there is nothing there,we may end up in Bromley.
I firmly believe that when you get to a certain age,you are never sure as to what suits you any more.
Fashions change, our body shape changes, and dissapointment sets in
when you cant find anything.
The lady that worked in Evans was a real diamond, sorting out what would go with what. The tops were fine, the skirts were not.
It's good to hear you got home safetly. Was there any holdups on the way.
I have just had a thought, wasn't Jeans J due to go for his check up last friday. Ooooh I had better p.m her to make sure all is well.
Night Night all. Love Mo xxx
