Oh my goodness girls, what have they done to this site again.
They have condensed the threads, and now have put the times of the last thread up.
We can also post at the bottom of the pages as well as at the top.
This will take us a little while to get used to I suppose, but at least we can still talk to each other.
I will be back later girls. Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 18 Nov 2010 18:01

Hi Girls,

Oh, I'm not sure about this! I thought at first that GR had got rid of some of the posts on here---mind I'm still not sure what has happened. Whether it's because I'm used to seeing the time the last message was posted, I'm not too keen on showing how many hrs ago it was posted.

As you say Mo, at least we can still talk to each other.

I'll speak to you all later on. Love, Sallie. xxx

Mo in Kent Report 18 Nov 2010 18:36

Hi again girls.
I was reading on another thread, that they have upped the amounts of postings per page to 20 rather than 15.
The writing is also smaller, so people who have problems with their sight,
will have to alter the size of the print.
If you notice Sallie, a lot of the deletions on threads have also gone.

Edit..... I have just been and checked, the supposition that the amount of postings per page seems to be wrong.

Sallie

Sallie Report 18 Nov 2010 20:09

Hi Girls,

Just looking at the width of the page we write our messages on, I'm sure it's wider than it used to be, or maybe my glasses need changing.lol!

Mo, I hadn't realised that the deletions had gone, until you told us.

Hope everyone is alright. Love, Sallie.xx

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2010 21:07

Apparently, if a post is deleted now it just disappears. Don't mind that. I do mind having to waste time clicking to make every thread I go on go to last post first instead of the command holding until I choose to change it. I also mind that I have to use the back button or go into Community to get the threads menu back each time instead of clicking on General or Chat board at the top. I also mind that 'they' have changed my name and taken the spaces out of it.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 18 Nov 2010 21:28

I also dislike the fact that I have to scroll all the way down the page to even find the thread! and I have to do that when I am changing pages ......... you know, what used to happen when someone typed a line thatw as far too long (such as when giving a web site), and it stretched out the box.

Bah Humbug!

Some people have lost their names entirely .............. they can post, but there is a blnak where their name should be!

Hi everyone!

Huia Report 18 Nov 2010 23:21

I wonder if I still have my name? Edit: yes I do.

I arrived back an hour ago from a walk that took me almost 3 hours, not that I walk fast (particularly uphill), and I stopped frequently to take photos. On the return when I was coming down some big steps to the road, or at least coming down the slope beside them, I lost my balance and sat down on one of the steps. It was a gentle landing, didnt hurt myself, but when I tried to stand up my knees didnt want to straighten and I kept sitting down again. It wasnt as if my knees were up under my chin as the step would have been 15 inches high or more. I sat for a few seconds, stretching my legs this way and that, and when I tried to stand again I succeeded.

Must now get my photos onto the computer.

Huia.

Oh gosh Huia, I hope that your knee doesn't stiffen up or cause yoy any trouble over the next few days.
I sometimes have difficulty getting to standing from sitting and have to --

bend at hips, putting head by knees.
put hands to floor, in case i need extra leverage.
raise bum into air, so that legs are straight , body bent at the hips, head by knees.
gradually straighten at the hips, raising head, till I am standing up straight.

This seems to take the strain off my knees and after a few times becomes almost normal.

Huia Report 19 Nov 2010 07:52

Oh Tess, that sounds so hilarious. But it wasnt as if I was sitting flat on the ground, I was on a step, almost as high as a chair. If I am on the ground I find I have to roll over onto my knees and crawl over to a bench or tree or other sturdy support to pull myself up. When we girls were young we used to laugh at our grandmother when she got up from scrubbing the floor (she seemed to enjoy doing it!) I think she might have got up like you.

Well girls, nothing much has changed on here has it. And I bet the site has been bombarded by loads of angry members.
We have had the invisble people posting, and lots of folks have lost their own special logo's deleted. Ah well thats life.

Oh Tess, I thought you were starting an excercise class, when I read of your getting up process. I could just imagine poor Huia trying to do it. LOL
I think we are all in the same boat,as far as when we get up from the kneeling positition, or even sitting in a chair. Thank the lord for long handled mops, and brooms. But when it comes to using the dust pan and brush,it's a nightmare. I spotted a long handled brush and dustpan the other day, in Wil*o's,I think I will invest in one next time I go there.

Marie, I am so sorry to hear about Kathleen and Victoria. It's high time they sorted both of them out, it's not like this has only just happened, it's been an ongoing problem for a little while now.
What vegetables are you hoping to grow in your garden. Mind you, it's your summer now isn't it,so you could grow a lot of salad stuff.

Well my lovelies, I am going to do a Sallie, and make a cup of tea now.
I will be back later. Love Mo xxx

The "exercise" I told Huiaabout is a method of getting up from a chair easily. A physio told me about it.

I have to admit that on the very few occassions I have done this in public, I have had a lot of funny looks!

But it does work... and doesn't hurt the knees.

Huia, I don't think that I would be able nowadays to go up or down steps, which had a 15 inch rise. Would have to come down sitting on my sit- upon! Don't know how I would manage to climb up such high steps.

You did well, to even attempt it. Hope that your kness (and all your other body parts) are ok now.

Huia Report 19 Nov 2010 23:30

Tess, I didnt realise you were talking about getting up off a chair. I havent had that problem - as yet. My knees are not too bad, just slightly sore when I went down some steps a little while ago, but no real problems. Those very high steps on that walk I try not to use, and like a lot of other people I go up and down the sloping ground at the side. Much use of that has made a lot of small steps, but it is a bit uneven which is why I lost my balance and sat down. I dont seem to be quite a steady on my pins as I used to be, but then I am getting old, soon will reach the three quarters of a century mark :(((

Hello all, its a very tired Marie here I have been in the garden the past 2 days so I am a bit sun burnt even though I had a large hat on my head. It is another lovely sunny day to-day but no sun for me .
I went into town and got some groceries as i was out of most things.I defrosted my freezer as it had become full of ice I had to make way for the new food.

I too am finding it hard to get up when I have been down on my haunches the knees complain and also my left hip sad isn't it , old age is not for the faint hearted.

How are you Sallie, and how is your daughterI guess it is getting cold in your neck of the woods.
Dear Joyce,I do hope your health improves and the pain lessens my prayes will be for you to-night
.Mo has all the painting finished in your house. My native garden is looking nice but there is still a lot more to be done to it, when we get all the rocks in and the wet area filled I will take some Photos of it and pass them on.
Liz I hope you are well .Debbie I guess you are busy as usual.

We are having a film crew out here to-morrow Victoria has been part of an ongoing study for the school this year some thing like a year in the life of a student .
All students were given a notebook (laptop) to help them in their studies so to-morrow they are going to film life at home and because Victoria has lost so much school this year the angle will be how it has helped her to keep up with her studies.
Victoria has been chosen to receive a special reward at their Presentation
night, she also has her class social which she is looking forward too I do hope she will be better as she had a bad night last night.
Hi Ann how are you still doing your cards, you and Jean are sooo clever, I havent even thought about Xmas cards yet, I seem to be getting slower at everything.

Huia & Tess, Hello to you both nice to read your posts and yes I also had a giggle at your descriptions
I must say goodbye as I intend cooking for the family to-night
Love and hugs to you all even if I didn't mention your name.
Marie

Yesterday afternoon I was just thinking of having a shower and washing my hair, as I had been doing a spot of gardening. I came inside to cool down first and then there was a knock at the door, 4.30 pm. It was some former neighbours who now live about 2 hours drive away. Not only was the house an utter mess, but I was braless which I am sure they noticed when we hugged. But at least I had a skirt and t-shirt on, which I dont always when I feel hot! We chatted for about 30 mins and then they went.

Today I am planning to visit Phil before lunch, then go to Pukekohe to visit my daughter, then go to a concert at 3pm, the Pukekohe Community choir.

Better get on and do the breakfast dishes now.

Good evening Huia, or should I say good morning.
Like you, I seem to get caught short when I am in my worst state of dress.
Some Sundays if we are not going out, I like to stay in my night clothes and dressing gown ( I do have a bath and change before bed I might add)
and many a time someone has turned up for Roly. I get him to open the door, whilst I scamper upstairs out of sight. Lazy really but I bet a lot more people do it than admit to it.
I hope you find Phil fit and well, and that you enjoy your visit to your daughter.

I have had the two youngest grandchildren here today. Phew, I must be getting old, they have worn me out.
They like to take the mickey out of grandad,as he has no hair, and they find it so funny. If only they had seen him when he was younger and had a full head of hair. When I showed them photo's of him in the 70's with long hair, they would not believe that it was him, they thought it was their dad,
before he had a haircut.

I hope you are all well. Take care, I will be back tommorrow. Love Mo xxx
