Hi all
xxx

Glad all is quiet Mo!

Thank you everyone
xxx

The treatment WILL be surgery .......... lumpectomy is the usual, but I want a mastectomy.

It will then be followed by prescriptions for Tamoxifen. Hopefully, no chemo or radiation ......... which is ONE of the reasons I would prefer a mastectomy.

The other reason is ..................... it would even me up again!

I have an appointment on Sept 6, at 8:00 am

I am sure we will all be thinking of you Sylvia on the 6th, although for me it will be the 7th and I will probably be asleep as it will be about 2 or 3 a.m. my time! (if my calculations are correct). All our love and best wishes.

Appointment has been changed ........ there was a cancellation, and I will be going tomorrow morning (Friday) at 9 am, to see the surgeon in her office.

She will assess me, examine me, and then determine when to fit me into the operating schedule.

So I should know by mid-morning when the next step is to occur.

it is also our 44th wedding anniversary tomorrow!

What a way to spend your anniversary. However, better than having to wait until september. Thinking of you and hoping they sort something out quickly for you.

Sylvia, I hope and pray that they sort things out for you sooner rather than later. That way you will be a lot better by christmas,to enjoy your time with M.J and the family. God bless you my love.
It's most unfortunate that your appointment coincides with your anniversary, but congratulations to you both.
Love and all my best wishes Mo xxx

Hi all
xxx

Got (and gave) an anniversary card at 6:00 am this morning, which is when I ahd to wake up so I could be ready to leave the house by 8:15 am!

My anniversary present will be a sub to findmypast. OH got a new camera (as I think I said a few weeks ago).

Going out for dinner tonight to our favoruite restaurant, the one we love to go to but can't afford to do toooooo often :-D

Update after seeing the surgeon:-

Official diagnosis .............. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma

Treatment ............ Mastectomy on September 20, with examination of the Sentinel lymph node to make sure no cancer cells have excaped into the lymph system.

No further treatment ........ unless cancer cells have reached the Sentinel node.

I will be in hospital overnight, so have asked for a semi-private room (2 beds). Its expensive, but our Extended Health Insurance should pay for ............. and I still think it's worth it if they don't.

I will be released with drains and staples in, so we will think about paying for some nursing care at home, if it is not offered. I do remember that we had a nurse visiting after OH had his colon surgery, to change dressings etc., and that was arranged by the hospital before he was released.

It was found almost by accident .............. she was very pleased that the mammogram clinic had taken the option of trying to determine the calcifications they had spotted on the May mammogram. They could have told me to come back in 6 months for a further check-up. Instead they did more mammograms and the biopsy, still thinking they were benign but with uncertainty.

It was not until the radiologist did the detailed examination of the core biopsy that they found the carcinoma cells

So ................... very early, and so small that they have been unable to give a size determination.

She asked what I would like to consider as treatment.

I said, "My druthers would be a mastectomy, and I've thought that for years, since 1995 in fact."

Her response? "Good choice. It's certainly small enough for a lumpectomy to be perfectly acceptable, but you would always be worrying. The simple solution to it."

so, we live life as normal until September 20.

Sylvia I will be thinking of you on the 20th September. I had a lumpectomy on a small lump I found, it turned out to be a ball of fat with the cancer inside, could easily have been missed, surgeon said it was like an egg with the yolk inside. I didn't need any other treatment apart from Tamoxifen and I have been clear for over 14 years now, got it in other places but not breast as they say it never goes back to there.

Love Caz xx

Thank you for good wishes and cards.

We have not done anything really exciting. We went to Cheltenham as we often do on the bus. I bought some knickers with money daughter gave me. Son and family have given me hobbycraft vouchers so I shall spend them next weekend when we go to Hampshire. Sister has put money in my account so I shall spend that when I can find something. Couldn't see anything today. Had lunch in a Chinese restaurant. Shall have a bottle of wine this evening. It is in the fridge cos I put it there.
