Huia, a lady of few words today then. Hope you get everything done.

Huia Report 8 Aug 2011 09:28

Hello there Ann.

This morning (after I came off the internet) I phoned the superannuation people to find out what my annual income had been so I could apply for a rates rebate. All I know is that money goes into my bank account (I dont take too much notice of the exact amount) every fortnight and I use it, but to apply for the rebate I need to put in my annual gross income. Of course I had to sit on the phone for quite a while before I found out the amount.

After that I got ready to go to town to spend the afternoon in the hospice shop. I bought a nice fake fur blanket which I will use to replace one of the tatty old ones I have been using. The tatty one can be cut down into pet blankets. I have had it for 52 years and it has had moths in it. :-( I felt it was high time I got rid of it, even though it was a wedding present.

Last night I put more photos on my blog and started a 4th blog, of old NZ postcards. I might add some more photos tonight.

Good evening to anybody looking in.

Jean, thank you for the comments on my blog photos.

I am going to be busy again today when I get off here. I want to query an item on my rates bill, and I have to go to town to put in my application for the rebate, but have to make a payment when I do so. I also wanted to go to the library to look at the electoral rolls.

See you all later, I hope.

Good morning everyone.
My goodness, what on earth is this country coming to, with all the rioting and looting in London.
The troubles are starting to spread all over the country now. In fact last night here in the Medway area, there were riots and a multi storey car park set alight, no where near as bad as else where thank god, but who knows what tonight will bring.
Stay safe my friends, god bless. Love Mo xxx

I hope all the rioters and arsonists and looters get caught and get their just deserts. It is awful to see the burning in London.

It is frightening that the police can't seem to gain control. And it is nothing more than pure criminality and greed. The chance to get something for nothing. But the frightening thing is how blood thirsty these youngsters get, they seem to get taken over by it as if they are playing some great game on the internet. It doesn't seem real to them and they don't care who gets hurt. Some of the people who have lost their homes are probably as poor as the kids are but they are now homeless as well.

Oh my word, I have just heard from my son. The business he works for, have been advised by the police to close early. Two retail units close to the business, were raided last night, and the police have been present all day.
It looks like they are expecting more trouble tonight. This is in Orpington, Kent.
I am waiting to hear that he arrives home safetly.
It's so frightening for people all over the country.
Apparantly they closed the Blue Water shopping Centre today as well, but have yet to hear why.
Trains up to Cannon Street were also cancelled.
The vandals are bringing the whole country to a full stop.
Stay safe my friends. Love Mo xxx

Mo, I hope you heard from your son, its a terrible thing to watch the tele showing all the riots, what can anyone one do against such mob rule, it must be awful for the families of the policemen and women who have to face the morans....I wonder what is going through the minds of the people who are doing it , also the shopkeepers, who serve the public,
all adding to the sorry state this country is in, who pays the cost of trying to put it all right??????
so no use saying dont worry, but just offering my love and prayers to you and your son....always here for you....

Hello girls.
I do hope Sylvia got on o.k at the doctors today. Well I believe it's today she is going. Thinking of you Sylvia love.

Jean, my son got home by 6.30 last night, thank the lord. The business is supposed to open late tonight, as they have got a sale on. I am hoping the bosses use their heads, and close earlier.
I haven't heard how thing were up in the vicinity of his shop last night, so fingers crossed that there was no more looting up there.
They would have a job if they broke into my sons place of work to loot it, as it's a furniture shop, so they would need to take a good sized vehicle, to carry their ill gotten gains away with them. lol But it is still frightening that yobs can do these things, and scare the pants off of innocent people.
As I have said before, the use of water cannons filled with permanant dye, would soon make them think twice, well perhaps it would.

Ann, they sent some of our police up to london as well. Then what happened, we had trouble locally. I suppose the police can't really win,can they.

Hi Marie, I hope you manage to get a few good nights sleep soon. All will be o.k after you have had the reunion party, I bet all the worry about it all coming together is causing the lack of sleep.

Love to you all. Mo xxx

Hi girls just a quickie to say I hope Sylvias' result will be good. I've been watching the riots and it's awful, they want to bring back borstal or something like it, there is no deterent nowadays, even in prison it's like a hotel they live better than pensioners do. I hope my son is not sent down there if they send police from round here.
Marie I do have a lot of bruises but they are fading now, my knees still hurt because I went straight down on them and they are not good at the best of times. My arthritic hip is giving me gyp now so I can't win, lol, good job for Powergel there.
Teas out so better go, hello to everyone.

Love Caz xx

Good evening everybody.

To introduce a lighter note, I went to see my husband's nuts last night. It was quite funny. The trouble is I had trouble getting to sleep afterwards so took half a sleeping tab at 1.30 a.m. and slept in this morning. Just as well I am not going anywhere today.

Now for the good news / bad news.

The financial advisor this morning told us that we will run out of money .............. if we live to be 136.

This afternoon ???

Have phoned daughter, and told her

I'm also going to post it on the various threads ........... I'm not shy about it!

I have invasive cancer of the left breast, Stage 1

invasive ..... not too good

Stage 1 ........... very good! That's a very early stage

I now have to wait for the surgeon to be contacted by my GP, and an appointment made for me to see her ...... fortunately for me, the surgeon of choice of the doctor who saw me today is the same surgeon I would have asked to see, the one who operated on me in 1995. The GP considers this woman to be the best surgeon, and very honest and capable. Which is exactly as I found her to be.

so I am now in a waiting game. My desire would be another mastectomy, but obviously that has to be discussed.

I'm feeling pretty good about it ......... taking it in stride. I was more than half expecting it for some reason.
