Mo in Kent Report 16 Dec 2011 18:43

Hello ladies,
Well everything went well today at the hospital.
They said that Roly's postrate is slightly enlarged, but not enough for them to worry about.
Nothing else was discovered. and the surgeon thinks that the blood in the urine, was caused by the anti-biotics he was prescribed for the kidney stones.
There are no stones anywhere in his body, so they think he passed them through his body himself.
Whew thats all such a relief to me I can tell you. I can now relax and enjoy christmas, thank the lord.
Thank you all for your support, at a time when I needed it.

Huia thank you so much for the christmas card, it arrived this morning.
Your Avatar picture, is the same as the card isn't it. And that is what we call a bottle brush plant. Do you remember my telling you about the one I bought a couple of years, and my dread of it dying in our winter weather.
Well it's still going strong, even though I cut it back quite severly earlier in the year. What a coincidence is that, you call it your christmas trees in NZ.,and we call it a bottle brush plant.

Well done Sallie and Sylvia, on completing your christmas present buying, and wrapping.
It's such a great feeling when it's all done isn't it.

Sallie, what a time for the boiler to pack up.We need our central heating at this time of year, dont we.
Did you all get the snow today. We did, but thank goodness it didn't lay. But it is soooo cold outside at the moment.

I wonder where Ann has got to. Cooeee Ann, I hope you are o.k, and T as well.

I have been thinking about Jean, Marie, Joyce, Caz,Betty, Liz and wondering how they are coping at the moment. It seems ages since we heard from so many of our friends, love and hugs to them all.

Take care my friends, and stay nice and warm. Love Mo xxx

Ooops I nearly missed you Caz.
I am sorry to hear you have had the black dog hanging over you love.

Oooh give your OH a slap on the legs from me, for poking you with his fork, thats nasty. lol ;-)

Mo it was me who stabbed myself with my fork, it's still sore.
Jean is having her computer overhauled so she won't be on yet.

Huia Report 16 Dec 2011 19:12

Mo, the bottlebrush is Callistemon and the Pohutukawa is Metrosideros, although both are members of the Myrtle family. Pohutukawa grows into a large tree, the bottle brush is not quite so big.

Caz, the flower head is probably about 2 inches across, at a guess. It actually consists of several flowers. It grows along the beaches and flowers at this time of year, very colourful. The rata is another member of the Metrosideros genus.

Huia.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Dec 2011 21:22

and Pohutukawa makes a fabulous, stunning display when there are masses of the trees all in flower at the same time!

I was down in NZ in December 1992-January 1993 ................... "visiting" OH and daughter who were down there from October 1992 to June 1993.

We had a lovely time :-)

damp, rainy and drizzley here ...... but warm!

Hello Girls,

Mo, so pleased to hear the good news about Roly. Thank goodness that everything is alright. At least now both you and Roly can enjoy your Christmas without that worry hanging over you.

Did you have a darts match last night? If you did, hope your team won.

If I can remember rightly, I'm pretty certain Ann and T have gone to their daughter's for the weekend. Hope the weather won't be too bad for them.

Caz lovely to hear from you.....I'm sure it won't take Phil long to pick up what you need for Christmas. I just hope that you will feel a bit
better and will enjoy your day.

You would have thought that the drivers would have used their common sense according to the conditions and as you said gone round the other way.lol!!

Huia, hope all is well with you. Are you still as busy as you have been lately.

Sylvia, it's really cold here, there is something in the air not sure if it's rain or it's trying to snow.

Hope the weather isn't too bad with you.

Well, we have had our central heating boiler repaired once again, but it is only temorary. We not only have to have a new boiler, but have to have some new piping from the gas mains to the boiler itself. Apparently the person that put this boiler in for us used the wrong size piping, so we now have to have the right size put in. So it looks as though it is going to cost us an arm and a leg.
But we have to have get it sorted as this is the third time we have had to have the boiler repaired.

Well girls I'll say goodnight and will speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone and stay warm.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

forgot to say how pleased I was that Roly's tests had come back so good <3 <3 <3 <3

That's wonderful.

Sallie ... you're quite correct, Ann did say they were going to visit their daughter this weekend.

So sorry to hear you're going to have a new boiler.

There's always something isn't there?!

The weather here is damp, but quite warm ........ certainly several degrees warmer than it was earlier in the week!

I think it is certainly going to be a green Christmas for us!

Hello Girls,

Jean lovely to hear from you, lets hope the problems you had with your computer is now sorted and you won't have any more trouble with it.

Sorry to hear about the problems you've had with your PayPal account, I hope it has all been sorted out for you now.

It's awful to have something like that happen, it certainly makes you nervous and wary for a while about using buying things off the internet.

Sylvia, thanks for that, I was sure that Ann had mentioned that her and T were going to their daughter's this weekend.

I shall be glad when our new boiler is in...as you say Sylvia there is always something to be done.lol!!

Well we are off to Stoke-on-Trent tomorrow, we are meeting my cousin who lives in NE Wales so that we can exchange our Christmas presents.
Meeting at the pub we usually meet at, to have lunch, so looking forward to meeing up and having a good natter catching up on all the news.

Went to Derby this morning and when we got home I decorated our Christmas tree and finished pack all the presents, so feel pleased that those jobs are now done.

Thinking of all our friends and hope you are all OK.

Speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care everyone.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 18 Dec 2011 08:25

I visited Phil this afternoon. He seemed quite chatty, but even with my hearing aids in and my ear thrust close to his face I couldnt make out what he was saying. There was a woman one side of him who makes a lot of noise, 'Aaah, aaah' etc. And a man behind me who repeatedly whacks his wheelchair and kicks the floor and otherwise makes a racket, and the radio was going somewhere. Maybe next time I will wheel Phil into a quiet room. I did see some of his old expressions on his face, and with his hands etc. Quite good, almost like my old Phil, but then my old Phil would have been saying 'come on, lets get out of here.'

Huia.

Sallie Report 18 Dec 2011 10:45

Hello Girls, just a quick hello to everyone, before we go to Stoke.

Huia I'm pleased that Phil was alert and chatty when you visited him, shame about the lady near him making so much noise so that you couldn't hear what he was saying.
As you say, it's a pity you hadn't thought of wheeling him in to a quiet room or area when you first arrived.

Let's hope that he will be as alert and responsive on your next visit. Will it be on Christmas Day?

Speak to you all later.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi girls, it's freezing here again and white with frost but no snow yet.
I have left it too late with having my downer to send cards out so I want to wish all my friends a very Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year, sorry about the cards but I will get them done sooner next year.
Huia it sounds good that Phil is more communacative with you, lets hope it continues to improve.

Take care everyone.

Hello Girls,

Where is everyone today. Have you all hibernated because of the cold weather?

Caz, as we have all said, don't worry about not sending us cards, we all understand your situation and don't think any less of you for not having a card. The main thing is that you worry about yourself and not the rest of us. I just wish that I could do something to help you.

Marie, hope that things will get better for you in the New Year.
I hope you have a nice Christmas with your family. Take care of yourself.

Mo, I hope that Roly is feeling better abd not in any pain.

I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sallie Report 19 Dec 2011 15:44

Still no one to talk to. Where are you all? Hope all is well with everyone.

Ann, sorry to hear about your daughter, but glad that they found the lump in it's very early stages.
Sending her lots of hugs and positive thoughts and will be thinking about her and all the family tomorrow.

Mo, I hope everything is alright with Roly as we haven't heard from you for a few days.

Caz, hope you are feeling a little better today. It is very cold here again, I just want to stay at home in the warm.
I heard from Joyce at lunchtime and she told me that there is a slight improvement in the twins and that they are both holding their own. So hope and pray that they will soon get well and maybe they'll be home for Christmas.

We had a good time in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday.....met my cousin as planned and had a lovely meal at the pub where we met. There was a thin layer of snow there and by the time we left at 5pm it had turned to ice so was very slippery underfoot. I'm not too good walking on ice, I'm afraid.lolol!!

Sylvia, Jean,Huia, Linda, Marie and anyone else I may have missed, hope you are all alright.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Mo in Kent Report 19 Dec 2011 15:55

Hello, hello girls.
What a miserable day today has been. It's been so overcast and dull, that I have had the table lamp on since early afternoon.
It's good to hear from you all, and catch up on whats been happening all over the world.
Nothing exciting has been happening here I'm afraid to report.
I am going to have to try and get myself a dental appoitment before christmas, as one of my teeth has started playing me up. Oh what a nuisance that is.
I have got my last darts match before christmas tonight, and this venue is right out in the sticks, so I am just glad the snow has held off.

Update....... just rung the dentist, cant get an appointment till January, if it's an emergency I have to ring at 9 a.m and see a different dentist.
What a joke that is, if it gets to bad I will go up to our local hospital and get it sorted.
Bye for now gilrs, love to all, Mo xxx

Hello all, well despite the bad news from our daughter we had a nice weekend with them and managed to get out and about to garden centres and hobbycraft etc. Luckily they are all ready for Christmas and despite the fact that they will have 7 of them Christmas day daughter will be ok as her OH always does all the cooking.

sorry to hear you are still feeling under the weather Caz, and also that Marie is not too good, hope you will all feel better in the new year.

Although I sent out about 150 cards, I am still getting some from people I have not sent to so am sending late and hoping for the best.

Sallie

Sallie Report 19 Dec 2011 16:23

Mo, can't you go to an NHS Walk in Centre? Michael had very bad toothache a couple of weeks ago over the weekend so Jennie took him to the Walk in Centre in Nottingham and they took two teeth out for him, it cost him £17 for taking two teeth out.

It's just a thought, and it would be better than suffering from toothache all over Christmas and into New Year.

Hope you can get it sorted.

Good luck with your last darts match with this team, hope you'll win.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Ann, I have had a few cards off certain people and I can't remember if I have sent them one or not.

Pleased that you all enjoyed the weekend despite your daughter's news.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Mo, I missed you there, I hope the tooth stops aching, they do sometimes just like that, maybe you got something in it or disturbed the nerve.

Sallie with making so many cards I have a spread sheet list which carries from year to year, I mark a / when I send the card out and then a X when I receive one back. That way after 3 years if somebody has stopped sending they get crossed off the list. :-D
