Mo in Kent Report 13 Apr 2012 19:42

Oh my word Puss, I can just imagine Joyce doing the dying swan bit, out of her chair.
I bet poor Jan nearly had forty fits trying to catch her. She's a girl that one, she an accident waiting to happen.
I hope that the lift has got straps on it, I dont fancy reading that she has fallen out of it, and down the flippin stairs. ( Please god don't let it happen to her )
Has your doctor not prescribed anything for your stomache. Do you think it is a side affect of any of the medications that you are on at the moment?
I haven't drunk in over 25 years, and to be honest, I don't miss it at all. I don't need a drink inside me to allow me to enjoy myself when we go out.
If there is music playing, and a dance area, I am well away, gone with the fairies thats me. My parents should have called me Tinkerbell.

Caz, I bet you use your bed as it should be used. Not like Roly, he uses it as a normal bed, without using the electrics at any time.
I am sure he's scared in case I do him some damage during the night, so he has disconnected the power to it.
We have separate bedrooms, because of his snoring, and even if I get up to go to the loo in the night, the floorboards squeek and he wakes up. I could never get away with doing anything naughty, lol

I have got to start accupuncture on the 26th of this month, I've got to get these darned muscles working properly, one way or another.
Need to improve my throw... for darts of course.

See you's all later. Love Mo xxx

Hi there everyone,
I had a lovely E.Mail from our Jean last night. She is doing o.k,and enjoying her relaxation, while good ol J is keeping her in the custom she has become used to. lol
She sends her love to one and all, but deep down I think she misses us. I am keeping my fingers crossed that sometime in the future she will be back with us.
Sallie, a special message from Jean, she thanks you for the lovely Easter card.

Peace reigns in our house, it has been like a war zone for a couple of hours.
My son bought his three children to visit us.
It was "Nan I'm hungry, Nan can I have a drink, Nan can we all play in the garden" yes of course you can, but "Nan can you play with us" Cor I am worn out.
We have just finished the clearing up, and sat down for a peaceful cup of tea, bliss.
Chinese for dinner tonight, yummy, so I suppose I had better go and get it started. Bye for now. Love Mo xxx

Hi girls, well what a quiet day, lovely. I haven't spoke to Joyce today as our phone is dead, I can't get logged into my e-mail so can't get in touch with Jean, it was much easier when she was on here, hopefully she might subscribe again.
Mo I use my bed as it was meant to be used, I have my knees up and the head up however high I need them, I get a lovely nights sleep. What's the use of Roly having one if he doesn't get the benefit, I'm sure he would like it.
Curry for tea tonight so a late tea for us.

Love Caz xx

Mo in Kent Report 14 Apr 2012 18:28

Caz, I really wish he would use the bed the way it should be used. It cost us enough as it was, and my thoughts are, we should have got him a normal double bed, but no, he insisted he wanted it.
It's like talking to a brick wall sometimes with him. Especially when he cant get himself up from the bed in the mornings. Oh well, I am not wasting my breath any more on him, stupid boy that he is.

Well our chinese was lovely, I really enjoyed it. I am sitting here feeling like a stuffed pig.

I was in the garden earlier, trying to clear some of the weeds that grow under our fence, from the house at the back of us.
I grabbed a handful of weeds, only to discover I had pulled a stinging nettle up. Oh boy, my hand is still smarting with the pain. There is never a dock leaf around when you want one, not even in the jungle of a garden at the back of us.
She can grow weeds like you have never seen, and she only has someone come to clear it once a year, when the tigers come out of the undergrowth, and threaten to eat her and her son. lol

See you tomorrow girls, love Mo xxx

YorkshireCaz Report 14 Apr 2012 18:48

Mo I had to laugh at your pointing out he can't get himself up in a morning, what's wrong with pressing the correct button and lifting the head up, lol, men are so stupid sometimes.
The beauty of living here is that we have no gardening to do, we have a lot but also gardeners come in every week to keep them nice. At our other house we had a massive garden that took all day just to cut the grass, three lawns, I loved it though.
Looking foreward to my curry in about an hour, lovely.

Hi Mo, and everyone

we had a super time at the party, and on the Island.

We came back late Friday afternoon .......... it was glorious! The sun was shining, the water was calm, and the mountains were clear, with loads of snow on them.

But it was very tiring!

Huia

Huia Report 15 Apr 2012 04:55

Hello Sylvia. I go to my sister's 80th tomorrow. I plan to sing e-e-e-eighty, now you are eighty, you are not the g-g-g-girl that you used to be, when the k-kettle boils in the kitchen, you'll be out there making a c-c-c-cup of tea. She never was a tea drinker. I might come up with a couple of different ending lines though. I have had different ideas. Maybe: you'll be making your husband a c-c-c-cup of coffee. He drinks it, she doesnt. Hmmmm, I need to decide soon which version I will use or I will get all confused and sing some rubbish. Of course they might stop me singing in the restaurant!

Huia.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 15 Apr 2012 06:41

That sounds fun, Huia!!

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 15 Apr 2012 18:28

Oh dear me Huia, I do hope you sorted the words out that you are going to sing for your sister, you might end up being thrown out, and having to sing for your supper outside the restuarant.
I'm sure your sister will love it honey.
You never know you may be discovered by a talent scout, and then we can say we knew Huia when she was a cyber friend of ours.

Sylvia it sounds like you had a lovely time at your friends. How was your male friend, is he still as confused, bless him.
And how did he react to the party? was he surprised, or did he know it was being held in his honour.?

Oh Puss, Oramorph does rot the teeth doesn't it. I know that when my son was on it, for a considerable time, after his back operation, his teeth soon became decayed. Fortunately he didn't suffer with any stomach problems while he was on it.
I bet those gall stones were painful in passing, you poor thing, it was bad enough when my O.H passed a kidney stone, I thought he was passing a football the noise he made.

Caz, when Roly wakes up, (which is quite often I might add during the night on his toilet trips) he would need to be awake enough to raise the bed head, but he would rather struggle than be bothered as he puts it "Faffing around".

I don't know about the rest of the U.K, but it has been very cold here today.
We had hailstones at lunch time, and it gradually got colder and colder during the afternoon.
I do hope it brightens up next month for our week in Yarmouth.

See ya all later, love Mo xxx

Mo, i have fillings yet and have had lovely white teeth but the last 2 yrs they gone discoloured, at least the patches will by pass it

i have breathing clinic tom, apparently im still breathing lol

im being heavily harrassed for my marmite crisps, ive got my 3 yr old on my left shoulder as the crisp nears my mouth he has it first, angel just bomb dives on me spills them then grabs them

oh has knocked me beads everywhere as he was complaining about a scratch on his head, it will be a axe next time

hello to everyone speak better tomorrow xxxx :-0

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 16 Apr 2012 15:12

Puss, I hope things went well at the clinic.
Mmmm marmite crisps, now I like them, but I dont like marmite on toast, it tastes to strong for me, I bet little one got more than you, out of that bag of crisps.
Now now girl, no cruelty to O.H's today. If he knocks your beads flying again, then thats the time to attack with the axe. ( But I didn't say that, I shall deny everything incriminating ) lol
I think my OH wants something, coz he has just made me a cup of tea, huh, he's out of luck, I have spent all my money.

I wonder where everyone has got to today, it's very quiet on the boards.

I hope Ann got back safetly, but I bet she's up to her eyeballs in washing after her weekend away.

Think I will need to get myself a biscuit, this teas to wet without one.
See you later. Love Mo xxx

Hi all, yes got back OK thanks. Lovely sunny day here today but very cold. Still the washing dried which is the main thing.

Hope you got on OK today with the consultant Puss.
And hope your song went down well Huia.

Mo you have been on the go it seems with Lily and Grandchildren. It keeps you young I'm sure.

Sallie

Sallie Report 16 Apr 2012 15:54

Hello Girls,

Well we had a bit of good news today, Jennie went to see the Rheumatologist at the hospital this morning and it seems that the problem she had with arthritis in her knee wasn't anything to do with her having Chrohn's but with the virus that she was suffering at the time. We ae so pleased that it wasn't caused by her having Crohn's as that on it's own is more than enough for her to have to cope with.

Mo, how are things with your son now? I hope that the Specialist he's seen at the hospital have been able sort out the problem for him.

Thank you for passing on Jean's message, I didn't make any this year as I haven't been able to concentrate very well......although I did make two birthday cards for Christie and two for my friend's husband
last week, I was quite pleased with them. I have found that if I make a couple at a time just for close family and friends, I can cope better ......it's when I have a lot to make my mind just goes blank.
So I'm just going to take slowly and only do a couple at a time.

When you are next in touch with Jean, could you please thank her for the lovely Easter card we had off her and Jeff.
It would be nice if she if she rejoined GR some time, I miss seeing her on here. We'll all keep our fingers crossed that she will.

If you have a darts match tonight, hope you and your team will win. Good Luck!

Sylvia, glad to know that you and OH had a nice few days away and that the party went well.

Huia, hope that all went well for your sister's birthday party and that you enjoyed yourself. Did you sing as you said you would?

Ann, I've spoken to you on Shaun's thread. Hope you and T had a good weekend at your daughter's.

Caz, hope your phone is working alright now. I haven't heard from Joyce since last week. Hope she's had her chair lift put in by now and with no problems.

Hope that your ankle is not as painful as it's been. We don't have any garden to do here now, when we had the extension done eight years ago we had the front bricked so that we could put a couple of cars on it.......so we only have a few tubs to look after now. We also had slabs and chippings put on the back with some tubs here and there so that in the summer we have a bit of colour.

Puss, hope all went well for you at the Breathing Clinic today.
Enjoy yourself at the Abergavenny meet this week.

Joyce, if you are looking in, hope you and Jan are both alright. I will be in touch with you soon. Over the last couple of weeks we have spent a bit of time in Jennie's each evening while Michael has been in work, with her feeling so much better we won't be spending as much time there now.

Linda, how are things with you and your family? I hope you are all altight.

Well I had better go and start preparing the dinner now, so will speak to you all again soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie.xxx

Sorry Mo and Ann I just missed you both.xx

Sallie, so pleased that Jennie is feeling better.
I am sure that you are doing the right thing with cards. If you don't feel like making them they usually go wrong anyway so making two at a time when you feel like it is the way to go. :-)

Hi girls, our phone is still playing up so we can't do anything, OH went out and bought some new ones today and they are charging up now.
If you are looking in Jean I can't get in touch with you so I will write when I have time. We have brought our old one out but it has a cord attached so we have to stand there to talk. Joyce will be ringing tomorrow so that should be fun, stood there for nearly an hour, lol.
Sylvia, you describe a beautiful picture of the mountains, wish I could see them, Oops tea is out so see you all later. Should realy start writing this sooner.

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Apr 2012 19:34

hi everyone

we had a lovely sunny, warm weekend. Today .. it's rainy, grey and quite a bit chillier!

Mo ........... our friend was noticeably worse than the last time we saw him, just about a month ago. He did know about the dinner and who was going to be there, although there was one surprise guest he did not know about. There was another afternoon party for less close friends on Saturday afternoon, and he was only told about that on Friday morning.

He sits there, smiling benignly, doesn't initiate any conversation but does respond appropriately when people talk to him. Some of us told stories of years ago ....... and he was nodding and saying yes, yes, quite appropriately, so he was remembering those times.

But the "moment" is different. He has very little short term memory, OR he does remember, but not with any concept of time.

His wife had told him we were arriving on Thursday ........... apparently he was outside waiting for us on Tuesday and Wednesday ......... and was standing outside the gate when we drove up the drive on Thursday.

It's rather like having a child ....... constant repetition about when something is happening, or what not to do!!

I feel so sad ......... he was a brilliant man, very well known around the world in his area of expertise. He was still doing consulting work in the US a year ago.

J&M are coming over in July for 2 weeks, and he is her godfather, so they plan on going to stay there for a few days. I just hope that he has not got too much worse by then. J phoned him the day before his birthday, so also knows some of the problems of talking to him.

I should explain the "gate" ........... deer are very common everywhere over here, we even occasionally see them in Vancouver. If you have a garden in a more countrified area, you HAVE to protect it from the deer, otherwise it becomes their dinner table :-D

Most people surround their back gardens with high (4-6') fences and gates to keep the deer out. Some will make an attempt to protect their front gardens, but most don't plant anything of great importance there.

Take care everyone
