I'm also guilty of that, Bob, otherwise you have little bits of bread sticking out making it difficult to wrap the sandwiches if they are to be eaten off-site :-0

Vertigo is not a pleasant thing.

Many people view the bland thread just to see what covers for bland these days, though it has to be said Allan and co are pushing the boundaries these days....rebels.. :-D

Allan

Allan Report 29 Aug 2017 00:55

Rebel without a clue....that's (contraction of that is, complete with apostrophe) me :-P :-D :-D :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 29 Aug 2017 03:13

Oh mixing threads and using Rollo.....Rebel...nah king of the rebels

Barbra

Barbra Report 29 Aug 2017 12:18

Hello all you bland brothers & sisters .one for all & all for one .is that right Hmm :-D :-D

Allan

Allan Report 29 Aug 2017 22:53

We few, we happy few, we bland of brothers...and, of course, sisters.

Now, who's (note the apostrophe) up for a rumble with the French?

We have until October25th to gird our loins, or even guard our lions!

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Actually the above reminds me of a jolly ditty that I remember from my childhood...idyllic days;

William the Conqueror, 1066,
Said to his Generals,
I mean to affix
England to Normandy,
So go out and borrow,
Some bows and some arrows,
We're starting tomorrow.

A rather cumbersome way of remembering a date :-D

I wish I could remember some other dates that I've been on. Mind you, there have been plenty that I'd rather forget ;-) :-D :-D

I seem to have become obsessed with the use of apostrophes.

I should be up there with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John...the fifth Apostrophe :-D :-D

maggiewinchester Report 29 Aug 2017 23:22

Surely that's apostrophy's - sorry if it ends with a 'y' (as it surely must - 'cos we've been told, so there!) that's apostrophies. :-D

Allan

Allan Report 29 Aug 2017 23:50

But is the spelling of the mark apostrophe, or apostrophy?

If the latter, then the rules relating to plurals would apply, as you quite correctly state.

If the former, them my usage is correct.....and as it's (not again!) my Thread, my rules apply :-P :-D :-D :-D :-D

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 29 Aug 2017 23:57

I concede. Your thread (bully!!) :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

.......and yeessss, it is (no contraction) (babies not due yet) apostrophe.
No whys ('y's' ) and wherefores :-D

Though - apparently - 'whys' and wherefores' nowadays have the same meaning, so that expression is redundant :-(

Allan

Allan Report 30 Aug 2017 00:18

That's very Whys of you, Maggie ;-) :-D :-D
