Oh I hope she is OK Allan, hubby was rushed in for that op when he was young, he was fine caught it quickly.
I had what they call a grumbling appendix, was in hosp for a couple of days loads of tests, Surgeon said it was a urinary infection , my doc said they didn't know the p*ss what they were taking about as it wasn't that ., My appendix are still intact. ;-)

Hi all

Steak and kidney pie

Daughter home now. She has Private medical Cover and was treated in the Private Hospital whcich is co-located with the Public hospital here in Bunbury. Both on Sunday and yesterday just before being discharged,OH had to go in and help her shower as 'no staff available' and she ended up having to pay a $400.00 excess.

Operating theatres, catering, engineering, maintenace etc are all shared between the two hospitals.

If she had been treated in the Public Hospital there would have been no charge whatsoever :-|

Glad dau OK now Allan... but that seems double dutch to to me. If you pay for private treatment you expect to be covered for your expenses, there would obviously some exclusions , wouldn't have thought appendices was one !
Normally a pre existing condition is excluded.

Hi Sandie

The hospital originally said that my daughter's level of cover woiuld not include any of the hospital costs, but they thened my daughter's insurers who agreed to pay.

In Oz you can purchase different levels of cover. One of the big complaints is private cover for births. Many families still end up paying up to a $1,000.00 extra, even with top cover!

Hello all

Tabitha, OH and I don't have Private Medical Insurance amd have always received good treatment in the public hospitals. There may be a delay in waiting for elective surgery, but urgent needs are always dealt with immediately.
