Fennel salad

Fennel grows like a weed in our garden

SusanWA Report 9 Dec 2011 12:22

Fennel has a very interesting flavour, Allan. The Italian rellies used to put a plate full of raw pieces on the table to munch on with drinks etc, just like celery sticks.....

Had a choko vine on t he fence behind our garage in Sydney... used to do "cooking demonstrations" in the back yard when I was little and pick a few chokoes and cook them over a little fire(!!!) that I made in the backyard!! Can still remember the smell burnt choko on the bottom of an old billy can that I used.....our dog was the only one to try it...kelpies will eat anything!

Glace fruits....

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Thread
Happy Birthday to you!

3 years old today (don't forget that I'm 8 hours ahead of you)

lol Sandie; even Aussies have to have a bit of mystery in their language. When I first arrived I made a real pr*tt of myself trying to use some of the slang and expressions. Kept the staff at my first workplace amused for a couple of years, especially when combines with my Northern accent (which I still have) :-)

I didn't I had to go back to edit cos it somehow posted and I couldn't remember what letter we were on.
I'll post this and and come back, this old dear is playing up...not me the PC lol.
Took my ages to get it to even come on this morning.. sod's law hubby 's away, son tried a few things, thinks it the on /off button but could be something else. Hubby will take it apart , but tho son knows more about software and general PC ,for some reason doesn't like GR so wouldn't strip the PC down. I eventually got it to work, I had a fall back option as hubby didn't take his laptop, he now has a Tablet I.pad so took that, and his new phone has net access.

Allan Report 10 Dec 2011 22:23

I'm afraid that I'm a technological dinosaur, Sandie.

All I want from my mobile phone is to be able to make, and receive, calls. I hate this period of instant communication. OK in an emergency but now if there is no response to an email within a few minutes we start jumping up and down :-|

*$parkling $andie* Report 10 Dec 2011 22:30

I'm the same Allan, but it is useful for hubby for work now, and his contract had just run out on his other one. 18mth contact, on redemption he actually made money out of that old phone paid for no calls,he used it basically for home contact and any emergency, by introducing other peeps to the contact he had £20 each time. 3 girls in work took out contracts and myself and he paid no bills :-) :-)
My contract is about to run out..mine didn't cost anything either.I don't want anything fancy, I get to keep the phone so I may go back to pay as you go, unless he can find a good deal for me . ;-)

We are now on ...... O

Hi Sandie and Allan, and anyone else who pops in today....and happy 3rd anniversary to the Food and Drink thread :-))

Sorry, Sandie, that you are having trouble with some of my sayings...just going back to my last post: rellies = relations, billy = billy can, used outback over an open fire to boil water for tea, etc. We have a brand of loose tea over here called Billy Tea :-)) Anything else that comes along, just ask for an interpretation:-))

Vanilla essence..........
