Hello all. A typical meal of roast beef, roast potatoes and pumpkin, peas and corn, cauliflower gratin and gravy. I think that the beef was sirloin. Everyone else hade two or three slices cut across the grain. Mine was one long slice cut with the grain. It was overcooked and contained bands of gristle. Totally inedible! I paid $35.00 for the meal but as it was prepared by the Masons' wives I couldn't complain nor ask for a replacement as they only prepared sufficient for the numbers attending

The hotel where I stayed, being in a very small town was also very basic which was not reflected in the cost!

Guess who will not be going there next year :-|

F..Flipping eck, sounds a bit pricey for a Beef roast , I'd have been totally miffed if my meat was served like that ! They should have made sure they had sufficient good quality meat for all ! Shame on them :(

Hi Sandie

Juniper berries

My run of poor luck continues. Yesterday had a letter from UK inland revenue. Apparently I owe them £1,000.00 which my UK pension Scheme 'forgot' to deduct from my pension payments last year. I'll fight the decision

Hi Tiamo

HMIR stated that additional tax will be deducted this year. Best of luck if none deducted last year. Unfortunately all my papers, including the very few pension advice payments I received are with my accountant who is preparing my Australian Tax Return. Despite an agreement between Oz and UK that there will be no 'double taxation' it looks like I'll be paying twice :-(
