Not yet Tiamo, but very soon. I have to collect my wife from the garage. She is having her car serviced.

I had the same service done recently and it cost me $1600.00 at the agents garage.

My wife is taking hers elsewhere and has been quoted $915.00 for precisely the same service :-|

Yes know what you mean Tiamo. we stopped charging them board and lodge,as long as they invested the money...we don't need it, bought them both their first cars and put them tho Uni, tho they did have personal student loans we paid the fees etc.
You can't take it with you can you ..!!
I guess when they fly the nest,we'll be forking out again ;-)

It's very very difficult for young people now. My son is still at home-doing a Masters in London. He opted to do it part time over 2 years so he can work at the same time. Don't take any money for board and lodging but he has to pay his fares to London - those alone need a mortgage :-D

hi all

my OH and I both have a Hyundai Elentra (11 years old and 7 years old respectively) The reason the cars' 90,000 km service is so expensive is that the old models like ours are fitted with a timing belt which has to be changed. The belt itself only costs around $100 butt he engine has to be virtually dismantled to fit it so most of the cost is labour

the new model Hyundais are now fitted with a timing chain which does not need replacing.

Helped our son a couple of years ago to buy a two bedroom unit. My daughter doesn't really need help at the moment as a few years ago she won $75,000 dollars in a lotto game :-|
