Arctic Blonde

Gosh, what twist to the tale. I wonder if "second sight" had a hand in that?

Oh well, I dont mind you disagreeing about anybody can draw. My view is that if people will pay for artwork that is just splodges on a board or animals painting, was it an elephant that did some "art work" , then anybody can splodge paint on a bit of paper. Now look at Lowry ?

The modern artist I love is Beryl Cook, who died last May.

Hi ladies, there's so much snobbery attatched to art in my opinion. It's all to do with the name of the artist...and very much a case of 'the emperor's new clothes' i think..I love the great Tony Hancock film The Rebel, it really is a pi*s take of all this cr*p that people say is good. If someone said well actually that's a load of old sh*t...then I reckon lot's of others would too!! I have seen some stuff on goolge about artists and their work...some of it is really awful, looks like my pallett! It sells for so much money!!

Pam.☺

PS. Sorry for all the naughty words...but it does get my goat!!

*Climbs down off soap box and takes a valium..................

Anyway we had a lovely jaunt up the coast, hubby didn't go too fast, it really was lovely. We're about 4-5 miles from the North Norfolk coast and don't go along there nearly enough. I suppose we take it for granted, we also are near to the Norfolk Broads, so plenty of things to do. I'm all tuckered out tonight...all that sea air I expect (my old knees are achey!) am sitting here in my dressing gown and all talced up and moisterised and off to bed in a while. Hope you've all had a good day.

Speak tomorrow I hope,

Pam.xxx ☺

Hello Pam

Yes, I agree what you say about art, and yes, some of it does look like an artist pallet framed up!

Glad you had a good day out yesterday. That sea air has a lot to answer for lol. I know when we go to Cornwall, we are all snoozing in our chairs in the afternoon with all that fresh air - its never good for you lol.

Going back to ladies probs. Does anybody get fake period pains? I see to be getting pains in my tummy, mild ones, nothing like I used to get, so wondered if we are still prone to these after the m.pause?

Off to work now so will see any comments later.

Have a good day peeps.

Morning Tina,
I have some Beryl Cook (not the real thing) in my downstairs Loo.I love them but I have a the ruder ones that I don't think I would put up in the lounge. They are a talking point !!!Beryl used to live up on the Hoe in Plymouth.
Fake P Pains? I don't know .I sometimes get that achy pulling sensation,You know the kind I mean.I have had the Mirena coil for the last 5 years(it is really due out)so haven't had a period since then.I am assuming that when this coil comes out I shouldn't see any more I'm 55 in July.Maybe you should ask your GP if you are worried.

Morning all,

Tina I get pains EVERYWHERE !! on & off.
But I'll tell you what I still get Milk from my boobies not running away milk but dried milk !! LOL

Could be sweat , but I think I could feed a baby should shove come to the push !!
Helen, Beryl Cook, I love the paintings ,but I don't think they would suit a Barn Conversion.!
I'm off now be back later ...

I have one Beryl Cook copy......Girls Night Out I think its called.....her pictures always make me chuckle.

OH and I visited the Tate at St Ives a few years ago....decided we needed to be more 'cultured' lol. After a few minutes OH looked at me and said 'I must be a philistine' and I had to agree I felt the same!! We went to the local museum to see a Picasso exhibition last year (I think they were pieces owned by David Attenborough) and that left us cold too!! I did enjoy the painting of the Queen by Rolf Harris shown there though.

Has anyone seen the late artist Bob Ross's series 'The Joy of Painting' on satellite tv? I am absolutely fascinated how he paints. He uses oils and does landscapes.....but he uses 2 inch paintbrushes to do parts of trees and water.....just like the ones I am using on the kitchen doorframes!! lol

Hello ladies, been having my 'power sleep' as I call it as working a night shift tonight!

Yes Beryl Cook's stuff always brings a smile to my face, I like her work very much. Think she was self taught and passed away not so long back. Jack Vettriano, (another Scott) is a favourite of my daughter...alals I'm not up to his standard! He's brilliant and another 'natural' who never went to art college or studied art. It really is a gift with some people. My Elizabeth has a poster in her room of a Vettriano painting and it's so good it looks like a photo. now some people don't like that as it were, being too perfect...but I'd love to be that good!

Picasso never did it for me either, couldn't see what all the fuss was a bout and also Hockney. Ah well no accounting for taste.

That artist on sky Ann, if he's the one I'm thinking about he's brilliant to watch...such a calming way with him too, all relaxed!

Yes Tina i do get sort of fake period pains, they usually are about the time I would be due on, it's a kind of gripey pain i suppose i'd call it.

Pam. ☺

PS I've got 3 pheasants sitting in my garden, they're regular callers and there's 2 males and a female. I'm okay with them (my bird phobia!) as they're big, but i'm terrified of small wild birds...black birds, thrush, sparrows....it's those skinny little legs!!!

PPS Ann if it's the same chap who paints the one I've seen is an american. : - )

Hi I'm back.

Just tried to put my washing out, but down came the rain again, I'll try again later.
At least at this rate I will lose weight in and out of the showers !!

,Pam, I have Pheasants in my garden as well, I have names for them. Have you ever seen them courting ??? They go sideways on with their feathers full preened .
Then god forgive if another male arrives on the scene.....one almighty fight . I do feed them because I love to see the babies chicks waddling behind.
We do have a greedy farmer that seems to think he can make a few bob from them in the shooting season...to me they are wild and don't belong to anyone..
I look out of the window fascinated by them.
Oh well back out again the sun is out washing going out AGAIN !! LOL

Just had my roots done,so am looking young again.I bet OH won't notice just like last week when I had it cut lol.
No chance of hanging washing out here today.I'm fed up with all the washing I'm doing lately so will go on strike today.I'm up to date with the ironing too. That means it will have to be some kind of cleaning job then.Oh B****r
Having my son home from Uni also means there is no food around.I keep going to get something out of the cupboard and there it is ........Gone ...or an empty box sitting on the shelf !!!!!!!!!
I think I will watch Doctors have my lunch and decide what I should be doing lol

I wonder what our OHs would say if we all asked them what we were wearing yesterday??? I think mine wouldn't know!!! lol

Hello all :)

This morning I've received a number of pms asking me why my messages on this thread have been deleted. Quite simply, I deleted them and will not be posting on GR again. Recently there have been a number of posts from various people saying that they have been subjected to rather unpleasant messages etc - now find myself in the same situation.

That SKIP is still sitting on my drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I made my 5th phone call just now .Now I am generally a very easy going and polite person ,but I am now beginning to feel things slipping.Maybe if I could give them one of my looks it may get them moving. The dog would soon move if he saw one of those looks lol

My dirty look has worked .I must be psychic or something .It has just been picked up.I ran out to ask the chap why it has taken so long and he explained that they have just laid 6 drivers off.So I said I was sorry to hear that ,but they need to do something about their customer care .They could have quite easily just said they were short of drivers and then I wouldn't have had to keep ringing.
Marilyn ,is what a big one? (sniggers)

Hello~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Helen not worried about fake p.pains, they are not bad, but Pam appears to know what I am on about. Think its hormones again - bl**dy hormones! I just get a few niggles now and again and its reminiscent (sp) of them. Just wondered if other ladies got the same.

Glad others like Beryl Cook's pictures. She also lived in Bristol and a pub where I used to go to of a lunch time with work mates had a number of them up on the wall. The pub has recently been sold and knocked flat down to the ground - shame, they did lovely lasagne there as well as other food.

LORRAINE - DONT LET SOME SICKO ON HERE STOP YOU FROM ENJOYING THE GOOD ONES :)

Oh well, I can smell the pies in the oven - better go and check, BBL.

That's not nice is it Lorraine....we all like you... These PMs can be used maliciously can't they when people want to be unpleasant without letting anyone else know. Can't be doing with that sort of thing.

I've deleted some of my posts, as have many I'm sure....that's what the delete button is for isn't it?
