Mo in Kent Report 15 Sep 2010 14:12

Right you orrible lot, eyes right, captain Mo here, reporting for duty.
I must get some laughing gas from somewhere, to cheeer all our downhearted friends up.
It breaks my heart to hear of everyones depression, I just wish there was something I could do, to brighten your days.
Come back and speak to us again soon Tess we miss you.

Sylvia, losing internet connection, is like being shut of from the world isn't it.
I hope the physio went well.
Thank god you don't get the bushy tailed rats in Vancouver. It's bad enough them being up at the cabin. Just make sure they don't hitch a lift in the back of your vehicle on the way home. LOL

Well I am still waiting to hear if and when I have to go to the orthopaedic surgeon, to find out what they intend to do about these bakers cysts.
Every thing is fine, just as long as I don't have to stand for very long in one position.

I hope that you are all having a fairly good day.
The sun is shining here, but it is very very windy.
I met my friends for coffee this morning, but it was so windy outside we decided to leave earlier than normal.

Bye for now girls. Love to you all. Mo xxx

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Sep 2010 20:12

hmmmmmmmmmmm

everyone on holiday then????????

We're getting into fall here ............ shorter days, cooler temperatures, etc. OH put the fans away earlier this week, and cleaned the filter in the furnace for when we need to have the central heating on every day, instead of just the odd day here and there!

We're also getting closer and closer to the kitchen renovation

.............. we've signed a contract with the plumber

............. the bottom cupboards and counters are being made. We're leaving the upper cupboards in place, but I'm going to have new doors and fronts made for them

........... we have to go out this weekend and choose the flooring ........... I want lino, not stone or tile. We may have a problem but will consult with the company about it. The flooring is the same as when we bought the house in 1972 .... and daughter pointed out that it might be a HazMat ............... flooring that old might have asbestos in it. If so, we won't remove it, but cover it with thin sheets of plywood, and lay the new flooring on top of it.

............ finally, we have to choose and order the countertops.

I think I might just leave home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

take care everyone

Mo in Kent Report 16 Sep 2010 21:37

Hi Sylvia.
I don't envy you all the upheaval of the kitchen fit. Both Jean and I went through the same thing last year.

We chose a champagne colour for our doors, and a black mottled effect for the work tops.
It does look lovely now. So light and bright out there.
The floor and wall tiling stayed the same,as they are the right colour for the scheme in the kitchen.
We have stone tiling on the floor, and the only problem with that is, if you drop something like glass jars on it,they smash into millions of pieces.
But it so easy to keep clean under normal circumstances.

People didn't realise all those years ago, how dangerous asbestos was did they.
The same with lead paint. I know that my grandparents painted their garden fence at the front of the property with it, and as a child, I apparantly
liked to chew on it. Oh my word, how innocent things seemed back then.
But what dangers so many things held.

It seems like the weather all over the world is changing for the worse doesn't it.
The clocks in this country go back one hour again next month. It seems to come round so quickly now. I suppose thats what comes with getting older, time flies.

Well I hope everyone is o.k. This is becoming a lonely little thread again.
Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 17 Sep 2010 09:55

It isn't here (West Midlands England) at the moment.

I have got my widows open because I've got some men painting (clear varnish) the outside woodwork. I can hear them chatting while they work and I sit at my computer.

Going out later for a head and shoulder massage.
Saw the G.p. earlier this week and have now got some tablets to stop the sickness - it is working so far.

Have also just started taking Vit B 12 on the recommendation of sis-in-law, as it is supposed to improve energy (amoung other things).
Am feeling more positive at the moment, so a big improvement there.

Re Clocks going back - take a moment to sympathise with night workers, who will have to work an extra hour that night!

This is nice. I log on and see that Jean, Dutch, and Tess have all been here. It's wonderful to hear from you all again.
Dutch(Joyce) I am sooo pleased you are feeling better. You had us all so worried for such a long time.
What a shame about Jan. I do hope he feels better soon You have both been through so much lately.

Tess, I hope you enjoyed the massage, and that it's a bit quieter now that the workmen have gone.
Stay positive my love, the vitamin B 12 should help you feel a little better.
I know what you mean about the workers having to stay the extra hour, on the night of the time change over.
When I was a LOT younger, the extra hour meant more time for clubbing.
But now it throws my whole system out. My body clock takes ages to re adjust.

I went with my son and his fiance to the 20 week baby scan today.
And guess what, it's another baby girl. She will be our ninth grandaughter,
and we have the three grandsons.
It's so wonderful what you can see on the scans. My son asked if they did the 3D scans, and was told no not on the NHS, only if you pay privately.
But he showed S the babies image in 3D, and she was so excited, that the man doing the scan, gave a free photograph. They had paid for two scan pictures, so we came away with six instead. How lucky was that for them both.
He also told us that baby weighs 1 pound 2 ounces at the moment.
I don't know about everyone else, but I only had the cold metal phone like instrument on my belly, when I was pregnant. My word how things have advanced.

Hello Jean my lovely, good to hear from you as well. I hope you are all well
Have you got anything planned for the weekend, apart from doing your cards.
It's going to be very quiet here, as we have had visitors nearly every day this week, so we probably wont see a soul all weekend.
I must get my shopping tommorrow, as I spent so long at the hospital today with S+J, I did not have time to do it. Yuk I hate saturday shopping,it's always so busy.

Well I wonder if Sallie is o.k, she has not been on for a while. If there is no news from her by tommorrow, I will p.m her to make sure everything is o.k.
I know that Richard should hear about the job interview, he attended not long ago. I am keeping my fingers crossed for them all.

Bye for now my friends. Speak to you all soon. Love Mo xxx

Hi Girls,

Oh Jean, I'm sorry to hear that you have fallen and hurt your head and hope that you'll feel better tomorrow. Did you go to A&E to get your head checked to make sure that it's okay?

Joyce, it's lovely to see you back on here and that you are feeling a lot better. Let's hope that the water infection has cleared when you go to the doctors on Tuesday. Sorry that Jan isn't very well, let's hope that he'll feel better soon.

Mo, it sounds as though you and Roly have had a lot of visitors this week.
As you said, you probably won't see them for a while again. It usually happens that way, all or nobody at all. If you know what I mean.

This computer is playing up again, so I'm going to have to call it a day, sorry.
I'll speak to you all tomorrow. Take care everyone!

Love and best wishes. Sallie. xxx

Jean I know how you feel, falling shakes your confidence doesn't it? I hope you don't have too many bruises or lasting consequences. (I suppose there must be some consolation in that it was not a 'public' fall). Have you had the knock on the ehad checked out. I once fell in the kitchen, slipped on spilled oil, easily done. Hope you feel better soon.
