Mo in Kent Report 16 Mar 2011 21:08

Hello Caz, was the doctor still in nappies. My lord they seem to get younger and younger don't they.

I can't believe you had another wasted journey, but at least with the CT scan, it will show how you are progressing.
I don't blame you for being so cheesed of though, it seems as if they have put you on the back burner doesn't it love. But god willing the final result will be a good one.

Oh and another appointment change with the dentist, May is a long time to have to wait for the appointment though.
Surely the dentist is not going to be unwell for that long.
But at the end of the day, I suppose it works out well with your OH's holiday
period. And also that you need his help to get there.

Take care honey. Love Mo xxx

Hi all

Sallie .... maybe Outpatients in Holland is different from A&E in the UK and Emergency here?

After all, what is the point of having an Emergency if you can't go to it in an emergency?!!

I wonder if Joyce is thinking of an outpatient clinic ... which we also have and for which you do usually need a referral. But it is separate from Emergency

I suddenly got really tired this afternoon, maybe all the painkillers I've taken over the last few days?? Anyway, I went to bed at about 2 pm and slept until after 5:30pm. Never even heard OH come home about 2:30pm, or make coffee for himself!

Have to be bright and cheery for tomorrow .............. we're going out to a dinner dance, a fund raiser for the Student Opera Program that OH helps with (sometimes even singing in the chorus, as the tame greybeard!).

It's what they used to call the Masked Ball ....... this year, it's called the Opera Ball. I have a new golden coloured sparkly top with long sleeves, and a frill round the lowish neck. It goes well with my long black taffeta skirt

take care

It sounds like you needed that sleep Sylvia, even if it was a drug induced sleep.
That's the only problem with having to use such strong pain relief, they may help with tha pain, but sometimes make you feel like a zombie.

Good grief is it time for the ball again. It seems to have come round very quickly this year.
If I remember rightly, you were undecided what to wear last year, but you are well in control this year aren't you, a golden sparkly top with your long black skirt. I must say it sounds very elegant.
Enjoy yourselves, and let us know how it goes.
Is your OH going to be singing with the choir this year at the event.

When we decorated our kitchen, I decided that the blinds needed changing. So of I went and bought the replacements, taking the measurements, as I thought.
Today Roly went to put them up, and yes you have guessed right, I had bought the wrong sizes.
Back we went to Wil*insons, and shock horror, they don't do them in the bigger size that we needed. So we got a refund, and went of to Dunh*lm
M*lls, and they actually had the correct size that we needed.
Of course it was my fault, but when I bought them home originally, Roly said I had bought the right size, so I am not quite sure who's fault it really is. LOL Yes I know it was mine for measuring the gap wrong, but I was not going to admit to that now, was I.

I wonder how Huia's, St Patricks day event went.

I will say cheerio for now girls, take care. Love Mo xxx

Huia Report 17 Mar 2011 18:54

Hi there. The party went ok, but I am not really a party animal. We were told to take a baby photo of ourselves, but I was the only one who had done so. The manager was dishing out drinks but I declined as they are 'not my cup of tea' and I am supposed to avoid alcohol because of some tabs I take. My skirt was certainly 'sexy' as it was see-through, although there was a liner under it, but the liner was tight and only came down to the top of my legs. My green wig looked stupid and it was too hot to wear for long. The woman who used my camera to take a photo of me didnt get the lower half into it, and she didnt wait for the camera to focus so it is a little fuzzy. But it was nice to meet some of the other ladies that I hadnt met before, although there were only 8 of us there altogether, but more than that and I would have had great trouble hearing anything (apart from a babble of voices).

The party started at 6.30, although I got there early. I also left early at 8.00 so I could get home at a reasonable hour (8.30).

Now I had better get on with more washing of clothes and bedding.

Huia.

Sallie Report 18 Mar 2011 07:43

Good morning all,

Just looking in before we go to Wales. Hope that you are all alright and that Caz, Jean and Joyce are not in as much pain and discomfort as they have been lately.

Sylvia, to sleep so long and not hear anything at all you really must have needed that sleep.
Have a good time at the dinner dance tonight, it will be nice to see people that you don't see often, so that you can catch up on each others news.
I hope your back will feel better so that you can relax and enjoy yourself.

Mo, we found out a couple of years ago that Wilki----s don't do blinds in bigger sizes, so since then we go to D-n---m for them.

Hope you have a great time at the London meet tomorrow. Is the first meet you will have been to? Enjoy your day and take care.

Huia, glad the party went ok, it was nice to have a couple of hours out
and to meet the other ladies that work at the shop. Although it's a shame that no one else took a baby photo of themselves.

Well ladies, I'd better go for a shower and get ready, so I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Take care.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi all, Sallie they didn't have my cancer count because the nurse who took the sample didn't take any for it, it will show up the next time in three weeks. After walking round the hospital on Wednesday I had no energy at all yesterday and legs wouldn't hold me, I'm fed up of going there now, the cancer clinic is at the very top of hospital and pharmacy way down the other end where I get my chemo from. I stopped half way there as couldn't go any further so OH went and got it for me, what would I do without him. I'm waiting for the nurse to pop in then going to lie down and raise my legs, a good way to spend the day as I can't do any housework.
Going to sit and do some stamping now for my cards.
Oh nearly forgot, Joyce rang me last night to say she had seen her doctor and her toe isn't broke or fractured but badly bruised, she said the bruising is coming out now.

Just a quickie to tell her friends that our Jean isn't well at all. The vertigo is bad and this afternoon she said she was frightened with it as the bedroom wouldn't stop going round, in the end it did and she got some sleep. Must be one of the worst things to have to live with.
By the way Mo we made the dentist appointment then because OH was on holiday, he gets home from work going on for 7 oclock so no chance of getting to the dentist, and I can't get there on my own so he has to take me.
Hope everyone is keeping well.

Good evening girls.
Caz, I wish there was something they could do for Jean. It really worries me that this has gone on for so long now, it's not surprising she was frightened.
I have never known anyone to have suffered it for such a time as this.

I had guessed your reason for making the dental appointment when you had love.
What sort of a day have you had today, not to painful I hope.

I went to the meet up in Victoria today. It was lovely to meet all the people, that we may speak to on here, and have no idea what they look like.
The weather was really kind to us, brilliant sunshine. It was just a pity that the place for the meet, didn't have a garden, or we could have sat outside for a change.
All in all, a wonderful day.

Sallie, did you get all the information you needed on Friday. I hope your brother was o.k, and that you both enjoyed yourselves.

Love to you all Mo xxx

I'm ok Mo my back is being nice to me at the moment, just backache, but I'm having trouble with my leg, the matron came to have a look at it yesterday after I had rung the doctors, they thought it might have been a thrombosis, blimey that's all I needed. It's not it's just fluid and heavy to try and walk. It's Jean I'm worried about, it has gone on so long now, she is still making her cards though, nothing keeps our Jean down.
Glad you enjoyed your meet, did the people match what you thought they might look like or were they completely different, I tend to get a picture in my mind of what I think they would look like.

To be honest Caz, not many were as I expected. One or two of them I had swapped photo's with before, so I more or less knew what they vaguely looked like.
The lovely Foggy, was as I thought, as at one other meet someone had said he was like an older version of Adam Faith.
But Johnny Blue Eyes was nothing like I expected. He's a lovely man, but
you get the image of a much younger man than he is. I sound awful saying that dont I, and I really dont mean to be mean about him, because he is so nice.

Hi all

I wish they could find the cause of Jena's vertigo. It must be horrible for her!

Mo .... glad that you enjoyed the meet.

we had a great time at the Opera Ball.

We had got a table of 10 together, but one of the couples called off on Thursday morning ................ the husband has pneumonia. Their seats were taken by the Music Director and Assistant Rehearsal pianist for the student program .............. 2 lovely men!

The students sang many different types of music, either to the piano or without any music at all. Gawd ........... there are some GOOD singers among them!

The food was good, the entertainment was great and fun ........... 7 of the men sang an aria from a fun opera, and then did the Can-Can! Highly amusing to see!!! Then the dance orchestra was Big Band-style ..... the band leader is 93 and has had his own band constantly since about 1936. To say he is a Vancouver institution is to put it mildly.

To cap it off ................ they announced that this band leader and his wife have given a donation to the Music Program that will provide a scholarhsip each year for the next 10 years, for a student who is interested in doing more of the Big Band style singing.

Then, we had a funeral on Friday afternoon, my ex-boss who died the week before. He was a staunch member of the Anglican Church, so it was miuch more of a funeral service than most of our friends have had recently. It included 2 hymns that I'd never heard of before ..... and was somewhat pleased to hear that I was not the only one who didn't know them!

It was however a time for meeting lots of old friends from my working days, and to learn how they were doing. Almost all of them have also retired, and we amost never meet up.

I had a lovely chat with the widow of the man whose Celebration of Life was held last Saturday ............... and she really wants to keep in contact with me / us.

Now it's time to wind down!

take care eveyrone

Where is everybody? Nobody posted here on the 20th and now we are into the 21st.

I did another 3 and half hours in hospice shop this afternoon. My partner didnt turn up and didnt have a reliever, so I was behind the counter for most of that time. There were 3 other women out the back sorting and pricing new things that had come in, and putting them on the racks and shelves. One of them did finally realise what the time was and came to relieve me while I had a cuppa out the back. It was ok while there were people in the shop to watch and serve, but when there werent any customers I was getting a bit bored. I will have to remember to take a book with me next time!

Huia, What a lonely thread this was yesterday. Couldn't you have got a book off the shelf in the shop to read? Or don't you have books?

Sylvia, glad you enjoyed the evening, it sounded great, I love big band music. Wow, he is a stalwart, fancy being band leader for all that time, it has been his life hasn't it? Strange how the only time we meet old friends is often at funerals.

Mo, glad you enjoyed the meet on Saturday.

Hello to you all,Nice to read all the posts ,Sallie I hope you have a nice time away.
Ann how is everything with you I still havent found your blog you will have to give me the address again.,
I am still in pain with my leg and still resting and putting ice on it , it seems to be a little better but I wont really know until I have to walk from the car to the Physio's rooms to-morrow.
Sylvia it sounds as if the Opera ball was great, like Ann I loved the big band sound.
Huia I am sorry to hear you have managed too catch the scabies again you must be fed up with it,and all the work( Washing) you have to do congratulations on your wedding annerversary.

Dear Jean, when I had vertigo very bad I was attending a physio as I had torn a muscle in my stomach and I mentioned it to her she said she might be able to fix it , she got me to lay on my stomach and she put her thumb under the base of my skull and pressed the thumb up under the skull on either side of the spine one at a time, she applied a very strong pressure untill I couldn't stand it any longer. When I woke up the next day the vertigo had gone.
I and my daughters use this method when ever we have bad headaches.
It is an area where if I am stressed I become very sore and it is good to have some one massage that area.
.Jeff should be able to do it for you, you should put a warm compress on it then use some oil as you massage.I hope you try it and that it works.

Hi Mo ,You didnt say if the blinds looked good on the windows, you must be finished the painting by now I am sure it must be looking spiffy.

Hi Caz, I am pleased to hear you are having a little less pain.
you must be very patient most of us would have blown our tops with all the mistakes that hospital seems to be putting you through.
I do hope they get it right the next appointment.

Hello Dutch I do hope you are feeling a little especially your toe.

I will say goodbye for now ,
Love to you all

Mo in Kent Report 21 Mar 2011 14:07

Good grief Marie, I thought we had a new member joining us, with your name change. God girl you could have warned us, I nearly had palpitations thinking we had a gentleman caller. LOL
I think you should jump on a plane, and get over here, and do a bit of manipulation on our Jean. Perhaps then it would clear this damned Vertigo up for her.
The blinds look a treat, and the whole place looks like a new pin. I can guarantee it wont stay like it though. One visit from the grandchildren will soon put pay to that.

Sylvia, I am pleased you had a good time at the ball. The big band sounds are the best, not like the rubbish they churn out these days, where you can't understand a word of what they are saying.
But, I have to admit that I am not a big fan of opera. It must have something to do with my ears, as if I hear a woman singing at a high pitch,
it doesn't matter wether it be opera or not,it sends my ears all funny.

Huia, most shop work can be very boring, unless you work in a big supermarket.
Sometimes customers can be few and far between, but at others you get rushed of your feet.
A book sounds a good idea, or perhaps a Puzzle book.
I hope you and Phil enjoyed your anniversary, and that he showed some kind of recognition towards you love.
Hows the Scabies now, has it started to clear yet.

Ann, the meet was great fun, I wish I lived closer, and was able to get to the Abergavanny (sp) meet. It would have been nice to have met yourself and Sallie there.

I hope those of us, who are not particularly on par, have a decent day today.
Love and best wishes Mo xxx

Hi all, Maria you caught me out as well with Zack, it was only this morning I read your e-mail with your proper name then you come on here as Zack, confusing. Sylvia the Opera Ball sounded a good night out, I like to hear the big band sound, when I was with first hubby we used to go to dinner dances with his parents and there was always a band there, used to love to dance to them.
Jean didn't have the vertigo yesterday and she hasn't mentioned it today so I'm hoping it has cleared for the time being, at least she is getting a good nights sleep which is more than can be said for poor Joyce. She is plagued with this dratted cramp all the time and is forever having to get in and out bed, poor Jan keeps waking up with her. She went out on her scooter this morning and had a little ride, very carefully on the slowest speed, she will get used to it in time, she will be able to go visiting her old friend who moved across the village so won't be stuck in the house all the time.
Hope everyone is keeping well, when do you go to Tenerife Ann?
