Hi Girls,

Well that's the shopping done for another week, thank goodness..... a job I hate, as I'm sure you all know by now.lol!!

Mo, I'm not shocked about your granddaughter going out shopping so soon, it seems to be the norm these days. Jennie's friend Laura, was just the same after having her second baby Gracie, who was one yesterday.
As my late mother used to say, " Carrying and giving birth to a baby is still the same has it's always been, the risks are still there and always will be". I'm sure she would be horrified if she could see how things are now.

I've been meaning to ask you, how your nephew is now......I hope he's making a good recovery.

Sylvia, you would have thought that M's sister and neice, would have had a bit more thought and considered washing up the dishes first. I'm sure that J would have preferred to have seen the place all neat and tidy, than all the decorations they had put up.

Ann, you must have thought I'm " losing it " when you received the pm I sent earlier.lol!! I was rushing to send you a message before going out, and forgot that it was a pm and not on this thread. Sorry. it's an age thing, I hope.

Jean, sorry I haven't sent you a reply about the acetate twisted easel card I've put on Ann's blog. I have to find out how to reply to you.....no problem, you carry on making one the same, if you want to. I don't mind at all.

~~~~~to everyone else and hope that you are all okay.
Well ladies, I'll say goodnight now. Speak to you all tomorrow.
Love, Sallie.xxx
Good morning (from me). A lovely sunny day at present. Yesterday it was raining and blowing hard. I dont know how long the fine weather will last, I think it is supposed to be showers leading up to rain again. I should be doing the washing but cant be bothered, sooner play on here.
I dont think I will be changing my avatar too often, it takes too long.
Sylvia, when I had my first four children, we were made to stay in hospital for ten days.
That was o.k with having the first one, but having young children at home pining for their mum, was heart breaking for me, and I couldn't wait to get home to them.
Of course you do forget all the work that you are going home to, with having older children to care for, as well as a new baby, and took some routine to maintain order.LOL
Mind you, I wouldn't have had it any other way.
But these days, they can't get you out of the hospital quick enough. New mums can be in,deliver their babies, and home soon afterwards.
Not like the good old days, when you went through the indignities, of having to have an enema, shave and bath, before you could get down to the business of delivering your baby. I was shocked to find out they had stopped doing this process now.
And of course the midwife would call for a good few days, to make sure you were coping as well.
Oh so different to now. When the new mums have to go to the surgery to visit the midwife, instead of her coming out to them following the birth.
Sallie, you are not going to believe this, but I have not heard any news about my nephew at all.
I don't even know if his Fiance has had her baby yet either.
Such a close family arn't we. But I refuse to do all the chasing now, I have learn't my lesson the hard way, and refuse to be ignored by my brother ,and nephew and niece anymore . If they want to tell me whats occuring in their lives, they can jolly well ring me and tell me.
I got fed up of ringing, leaving messages, and getting no replies from them.
I must say good night, god bless as it's now 10.50 p.m and I am shattered.
Love Mo xxx
AnninGlos Report 12 May 2011 15:33
Mo, it just goes to show that all the indignities were over the top. Mind you i think they stopped the enema about 20+ years ago.
I don'y blame you being fed up with chasing your family, let them come to you in future.
Marie, have you contacted Genes about your problem
We have just had a nice day out. We set off to visit Hidcote, a National Trust garden which we like. We normally go their in July/August. Stupidly we didn't check the book for opening hours and they don't open all week until the ens of June. Although the cafe and small garden centre is open. We were not the only ones to make the mistake, how stupid, surely if you are going to shut for two days you'd choose Monday and Tuesday, Not Thursday and Friday.
Anyway, we drove on to Batsford near Moreton in the Marsh, and had a wander round there. Lots of wild flowers out, a few rhododendrons, a beautiful Azalia, a couple of magnolias, lots of Alium and a wonderful handkerchief tree. There were also deer in the adjoining park which belong to the big house once lived in by the Mitfords. We had a couple of showers but managed to shelter, then we had our picnic lunch in the car. Drove home via Stoe on the Wold and luckily didn't get held up by the horse fair. Did see a couple of pony carts as we drove along though. The sun shone all the way back over the Cotswolds and the villages looked lovely with the honey coloured stone in the sunshine. Got home about 3pm.
Ann, I am very envious of your day out.
We go to a National trust park, called Bedgebury Pineatum. It has so many different trees, that are donkeys years old, but oh so beautiful, and soooo peaceful.
The first time we went there, we got ourselves lost, even though we were given a directions map.
Eventually we found the lake in the middle of the park, and sat and had our picnic there.
We were absolutely exhausted by the time we had finished our trek around the area.
It's so annoying when you make plans, only to have them scuppered by odd opening times. As you said, you would have thought they would have extended the weekend, into the thursday and fridays, now that we are in the summer months, and not at the end of June.
We have not had any rain here today, luckily, but it has turned very chilly.
Huia, we would have to be awake most of our night, to speak to you when you are enjoying daylight hours. LOL So WAKEY WAKEY HUIA, both Ann and I are here if you want to chat.
Marie, get in contact with GR as Ann has said, and hopefully they can sort things out for you.
You dont want to be paying for a service you cant use.
I am pleased you had a pleasant birthday, despite your cold sores,ahh bless you honey, we luvs you anyway.
I hope all our friends are feeling o.k.
Love to you all. Mo xxx
Ann, Richard was twenty nine in March, and at least in this area ( can't speak for anywhere else) they had stopped the shave and enema bit by then. Thank goodness!
Pleased to hear that you and T enjoyed your day out. Like you, we've planned a day out to a certain plce, only to find that it was closed that day......it's so disappointing!
It's many years since I've been to the Cotswolds---such a beautiful place. On my dad's days off during the spring and summer, he would quite often take my mum and nan there. They all loved it there. With living in SE Wales the Cotswolds was a favourite place for a nice day out, for many people.
Mo, I don't blame you not getting in touch with your brother and his family.
It's the same for them to get in touch with you, as it is for you to get in touch with them. It works both ways.
I always keep in touch with some of my cousins, and apart from two of them, the others never get in touch until I do. So I now only ring those once in a blue moon. At first I thought I was being a bit nasty not keeping in touch with them, but like I said to you, it works both ways.
Marie, glad to hear that you are feeling better than you were, and hope that your cold sores will soon heal.
Hope that GR will soon get this site sorted out for you.
It sounds as though you had some lovely birthday pressies, and enjoyed your birthday,
Jean, how are you getting on with your exercises now? I hope the horrible symptoms you have had after doing them have subsided by now.
Are you managing to do any cards or scrapbook pages now?
I have quite a few cards to make at the moment, so have been busy getting some done. I'll put them on Ann's blog a few at a time when I've finished them.
Spoken to Joyce today, she seems to be a lot better, so lets hope she will continue that way.
Caz, if you're looking in, I hope that are having a good day today. Thinking about you.
Huia, hope all is well with you and that things were okay with Phil, when you last visited him.
Tess, hope all is well with you. We haven't heard from you for a long while.
Well, I must get back to card making, or they won't be done in time.lol!!
Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx
Hi Jean, having a cuppa at the moment, so thought I'd check GR, and of course, I seen your post.
So pleased to hear that you haven't suffered any dizziness after your work out over the last two days. Let's all hope it will stay that way and that the exercises are doing what they are suppose to do.
I only make cards as I need them from month to month. I thought I'd make a start on some Christmas cards, but haven't had time as yet. lol!!
Joyce rung me earlier on, since this afternoon she is in a lot of pain with her back, so asked me if I would put a thread up for Olivia, as she can't sit at the computer.
I hope her back will get better in the next day or two as she coming over to the UK next Wednesday.
Mo, forgot to ask earlier on, if you have seen your new great-granddaughter yet.
Well I'll speak to you all later.
Love, Sallie.xxx
Sallie, yes the Cotswolds are beautiful. I remember when we lived in Essex and I said we were moving down here (the first time we moved, we moved away for 10 years then back agaon), she said we'd always feel as if we were on holiday and it is a bit like that.
Jean, if you had peeped at the photo blog you'd have seen the photos are on there :D :D :D :D :D
Mo, do you really expect me to get up at 3 a.m. to chat to you on here? Sometimes I have only just managed to get to sleep by then.
I have been out today. Had my toenails cut this morning then visited Phil this afternoon and did a little shopping before coming home to start tidying the house and sweeping the floor for the first time in I dont know how long! Son and his 'wife' are coming up late tomorrow afternoon. I am thinking of going to a meeting in Hamilton in the morning, if I can get to sleep quickly tonight and wake up early enough. I will be home again before son arrives, I hope, though he knows how to get into the house if I am late.
Mo in Kent Report 13 May 2011 18:13
Hi all.
Huia, I presume the house is now ready for inspection by your son and wife. I bet it's all spick and span, and shining like a new pin.
It's all ready for your visitors to mess up again. Why oh why, do we worry, especially with our children, as they have been bought up in our homes, and should be used to the way we live, but we still do it when we know they are coming.
Thank goodness your son is expected this time, and wont frighten the life out of you, like he did the last time when he arrived unexpectedly.
Cooe our Jean, thanks for the hugs for us both. Roly thought his luck had changed,when I gave him the hug from you. lol
It's good to hear that the excercises are helping now, even though the initial starting of them made you feel worse.
Hows J+D, it seems ages since we have heard if they are both o.k, so I can only presume they are both fine.((((((((((hugs for them both))))))))))
Well we did get to see our great grandaughter last night. She is a bonny little thing.
It's been a long time since I have seen a baby with as much hair as her. It's jet black, and is at least one inch in length all over her head.
When she arrived I asked my grandaughter what she had got in her hair, and was told it was the remains from her birth.
Shock horror!!!! I asked why she had not washed her hair yet, and was told, that new born babies are not to be bathed till they are six days old.
So the poor little mite has still got the detritus from her journey into the world,stuck in her hair till at least sunday.
I gave her her bottle,and when I changed her bottom I asked for the baby wipes to clean her, and was told NO we are not allowed to use wipes now, we have to use tepid water and cotton wool.
This is what I cannot understand, grandaughter Lilly was born in January, she was bathed the day following her birth, and baby wipes were then allowed.
Why in May have they changed their views, and baby Gracie-Mai has to go
unwashed.
Remembering that the babies Fontinel is open, and open to germs that could be on her hair. Surely this is bad practise, putting little babies at risk like this.
I just hope that my grandaughter takes my daughter and my suggestions, and doesn't live by the book,as this can be so confusing for new mums.
Lilly is now being weaned, and her mum was going by the suggestions in the book.
At first she was going to give her pureed broccolli (sp), or carrot. At my suggestion, she has put her on baby rice, and farley's rusks.
I said to S, that the vegetables would be to strong for her little stomach, and she should start on milder foods,along with her milk.
My word can you imagine what state her nappies would have been in if she had been started on veggies first. lol
I will speak to you all tomorrow afternoon, as we are doing our baby sitting duties tomorrow night, looking after Lilly.
Bye for now girls. Take care, love to you all. Mo xxx
Huia Report 13 May 2011 20:56
Mo, the house is far from spic and span although as I am not going to Hamilton this morning after all (the meeting is not the one I thought) I have time to tidy up a bit more. I have turned into a real slut over the past 3 or so years because when I was looking after Phil I often dropped things to take him shopping or on a trip to the beach or wherever he wanted to go, or help him in the garden or whatever. I just gave up on keeping the house in good order. Or should that be moderately reasonable, it has never been good.
Huia.
Mo in Kent
Mo in Kent Report 13 May 2011 21:15
Ooooh good, I've caught you Huia.
This makes a change, being able to talk to you before bedtime, well not 3.00a.m at least.
I'm sure you are not, as you put it, a slut.
Phil's needs had to come first Huia, the housework is always there the next day, as I have said many times in the past.
Now that we are retired, Roly seems to think that everything in the house gets done by itself. Ooooh if only it did.
Every time I get up to do something, he says what are you doing now, why cant you just sit down and relax.
Relax, he's having a laugh, if it was up to him we would be wearing the same clothes all year round.
If I put the washing machine on, he moans because it's making a noise, I really can't win.
I am one of those people who has to change my bedding every week, it's just how I was bought up I suppose. But Roly doesn't understand why it should be done every week. His attitude is,"well I only sleep there and i'm not dirty".
It is no wonder that when my kids were small, I was able to self destruct a washing machine within a short period, as it was always on the go, sometimes three times a day, with my five kids. Dirty little devils at times they were, the dirt seemed to jump up and cling to them.
Bye for now love Mo xxx
