Evening everyone. Well, it turned out to be a great day all round, by the sounds of it. A perfect sunny day in Melb for our ANZAC's and then to top it off a great game of traditional footy between the Bombers and the Magpies, as 90 thousand plus people sat and watched the game. My Mum, Brother...kids and grandkids came round, and we lit the B.B.Q and chatted. My dad died when i was 12 years old, and i never really knew him much at all, and Mum opened up her memory and started to talk about his time in the R.A.A.F (WW2)...and reminisced for ages. I have a special Album that i keep, with all the Photo's and War memorabilia in it along with his service records and medals. My brother, who was only 5 years old when he died ( 1960 ) never remembered our dad, and he realise on me to talk about him. So we got his War album out and had a few snag's and beers in his honour. My mum was fiddling in her handbag and pulled out a recent Newspaper ( Sunday Herald Sun, April 16th 2006 page 26 ) and there was a Photo of our Dads R.A.A.F Sqd.......451 and a plea from a lady ( Julie )looking for to be in touch with folk....and a Phone number at the bottom, so will give her a ring and have a chat. Joodle. Thanks for the offer about the free accommodation mate, much appreciated.....but we are already booked, and also have had offers from 2nd and 3rd cousins in England if we wanted a free nights stay....but declined. But thanks anyway....:>)) Laurie. I love reading your threads mate, and like the others say, you tell it so well, you can feel the emotion that comes from your typing...and puts people right in the picture. I had another break through with some more prospective ancestors last night while chatting on MSN with Deb in W.A ......and there was a book i had discovered about 18 years ago in the Melbourne City Library about some pioneers in a small town called 'Pomonal'. Its near the Grampian's in Vic.and i had found some piccies, and Pioneer stories about some Hull Families living there in the 1800s and always wondered if they might be related?......but never followered up on it, as my own grandad Hull didn't arrive in Oz till 1900....I did try to buy this book out of interest, but found it was out of circulation...... so dismissed it ( a cardinal sin.....) Anyway, Deb was telling me about some History of her family from a book she had found in a Library in W.A with Photo's in it......and sparked my memory. We 'googled' for the book on Pomonal ( on the off chance ) and it came up in Stawell Vic.$15.00... and listed the people who lived there, ( pioneers ) and there were the 'Hull's'......but reading further down the page...i noticed another Family 'Williamson' ???.( Jaw drops open )... My Essex Family in England are Hull and Williamson...( My Grandads Parents and Cousins )and they have been know to have have married many times into 3rd and 4th cousins since late 1700s. The funny thing about this is both Hull and Williamson ( in the Pioneer Pomonal Photo book ) are on the same pages.......:>)))))).......sooooooooo guess who going to spend $15.00 at Stawell very shortly. Have a great day to-morrow everyone. Tony Oz...:>))

Good Morning Wafflers and a Happy Wednesday to you (65 sleeps and counting - ah R Day) Thank you Laurie for that wonderful description. I felt like I was there. I always watch the march in telly and every year have seen my friend John who was at Nam with the mechanics. I'm glad you had a lovely day. All the armed services deserve it! That'll teach you to take time off the thread, Trifley. I hate when that happens, takes me forever to catch up with the chatter. Pleased to hear you got your shed up anyway. And if you need a hand with any of Nefer's brothers, just let me know and I'll sacrifice myself, lol. Tony, thanks again, mate, for your help with them 'Watts'. Think I'll just leave that line alone for now and hope that someone else sorts it out, lol. Our family also has a book called 'From Blarney to Blue Gums' all about the Reedy family. It was published in 1996 and begins with Michael Reedy who was born in Rathkeale, Limerick around 1806. It really is a wonderful book and is full of old family photos. Invaluable! HI again Lizzy. My sister and her family live in Adelaide and her eldest daughter and hubby are currently looking at buying a block of land and building a house in Lobethal. It's famous for its Christmas lights. Tour buses go up there at Christmas just to look at all the displays. Well better get me act together and go to the office (9 Fridays!) *waves to everybody, Jood, Jude1, Jude TA, Lara, Vonny, Ellie, Sandra, Cilla, SuzyQ, Tassie, Heather, Rebs, Shazz (oh god help me, who have I left out!), ummm, etc, etc. * Lew Lew xxx

Gosh, Its take me all of an hour and ten minutes to read all messages this morning started at 5.15.am its now 6.43 hooray Im first on for a change, certainly not going to reply to all as far too many to answer Firstly welcome Lizzie and Ella as said earlier welcome to the nut house, Talk about goings on on this thread, Pookaka, Farkles, midges, handbags, fishnet stockings gee girls looks like Tony is finally getting in touch with his feminine side hehe Ah Joodles, Mary, Sandra so sorry you're wont able to make it down to Yarra this weekend sounds like it is going to be a ripper Laurie looked for you on the telly yesterday also looked for Ray but as usual could not pick any one out as my eyes were not really focused properly, get too emotional, cant help it but I just have to watch our diggers and ladies proudly marching with all their old mates, and now with the younger generation joining in displaying their rellies photos, every year Rob says, thats it you are not watching any TV today but as usual I never leave the lounge room and dont speak to anyone, that is the one and only day I never leave the telly as I do not want to miss any of my heros, I know Im a terrible blubberer but I cant help it I just love all those diggers so much, I didnt get to meet my dads brother (POW in Changi) he died at 22, but I hear he was a bit of a character, used to sneak out from under the barb wire at night at manage to wrangle food from the chinese and sneak back into camp with it, he was caught a couple of times and in the end was transferred to another camp in Thailand, my brother was named after him and I think he inherited some of uncle Wal's traits as Tom is also a bit of a character, used to love to show my brother of to my girlfriends when he was home on leave from the navy in his uniform, anyway will get away from all this as still a bit emotional, but I have mixed emotions on this day (happy and proud) really, as my daughter was born on Anzac day, and am pretty proud of her also, OK definitely enough of this Sounds like you are all finding heaps of info re 1841 searches, hopefully I can find some as well, when I get the chance to search, am too busy at the moment happily packing for my few nights away, Yaaay two nights to go, sounding a bit like Lew counting her days till retirement, how many to go Lew? 60 was it? Rebs, you BAD BAD Girl, dont know how you remember them all, between you and Lew I dont know who has the most wicked wit and sense of humour, and Rob reckons Im bad, dont have a patch on you two Im afraid pmsl Gee Jude 2, dont know how you calculated your % I just say, Im Irish, Scottish, English and Greek would'nt even contemplate working %s out Congrats Trifley on completion of shed, does this mean OH can spend more time out in it leaving you to have more free time chatting on this mad hatter board now Hello Sandra and Cilla glad to see you both back on board and hope you are feeling 100% better now OMG its 7.45 and I am still dallying around trying to read and answer, best get off here and start packing things into the van. Morning All, Thanks Mary, i will try that site, and i have been doing the rain dance a LOT lmao, but am obviously not very good at it. still nothing here, lovely sunny days. If not for the farm i would be perfectly happy with the weather lol. Farkles, drop bears, and other strange things....think i had better stay here where it is safe. Although we stayed at 1770 once and i was nearly eaten alive by midges. Thought i was going to scratch myself to death. I had an allergic reaction to the bites and came up in blisters all over....looked frightful...people looked sidways at us whereever we went for about two weeks lol. Hi Ella, we traveled around WA for 3 &1/2 years in a bus, great state. For a while we were living on a mine site at Hatters Hill, where we had very limited water, three litre's per person per day(try washing long hair in that), and it was salty bore water. When we had time off, would head for Perth. We would pre book accomodation, and the first thing we would do was fill the bath and sit in it for hours lol. Ahh the luxury of water !!!! Hope our restrictions don't get that drastic. Got to go, that evil h*******k calls, actually it is the washing, or should i say the lack of clothes left in the wardrobe that calls pmsl. Take Care Wilson

Morning Wattlers Hmmmmmm - seems to be a bit of senior citizen bashing going on here. Believe me, you young whipper snippers, the senior cits can hold their own anytime. Wanna fight??? Fighting seems to be the 'in thing' at the moment - can you believe the goings on the the general board?? Good grief - why don't they get a life!!! Glad everyone's Anzac Day was spent in peace and contemplation. Seems the numbers attending the services are up every where. It's good the young ones are carrying on the tradition and remembering the sacrifice that the previous generations made. Hubby is back from Melbourne and we've got a stack of things to do so will catch you all later. Have a great day Anna
