Jude2 aka Flakey Report 4 May 2006 09:54

Hi Vonny My hubby says they put extra bits in the packets just to confuse you. You should see the huge pile of screws on the bench from the computer, every time he fixes it the pile grows...lol Im waiting for my dinning table, we were given a slab of jarrah 27yrs ago to make a table out of. OH said it had to dry properly before he could make it so it is in the garage drying....still Jude2

Jude2 no I'm in St Helens which is near Liverpool. I'm usually pretty good with flat packs, it just takes me about 3 hours longer than what they sat on the instruction sheet lol

Evening all Well we have another wet miserable day today, expecting the same for tomorrow and Saturday, its a pity for it to rain at this time as it is Agfest weekend so it will stop a lot of people going. One of the best stories I have heard to do with the miners trapped was on local news tonight. They found a labrador dog inside the enclosed area of the mine digging about near the mine. the workers put the dog back outside the enclosure, where the dog remained nearby. They found out afterwards that it is Todd's dog, who is one of the trapped miners. So you cant tell me that the dog dont know what is going on, possibly he could smell Todds scent. Hope everyone is getting over their bugs. Laurie loved the jokes, keep them coming. Sandra loved the Chocolate joke. Lara did you take any piccys of the meet at your place? If so when and where do we get a look? Cheers Sue

One chair left to do. :) Oooooooo my tablecloths look lovely mmmm I have a Christmas tablecloth given as a pressie by my eldest Daughter in anticipation of eventually getting a table - white with very tasteful christmas embroidery and scalloped edges AND I have a table cloth with very fancy embroidery that was a present from Hongkong about 30 years ago!!!! never had a table to fit it. We have decided to have a family 'Christmas in July' just to get to use the tablecloths :) table can be 6, 8, or 10 seats. Vonny

Vonny I want a Christmas in July even though I haven't got a table as an excuse. I've always fancied a Christmas in July. You'll have to start planning now - can you get a turkey in July?? And you'd better make the cake and the pudding now so that they mature nicely by July. Ooooooh - sounds great. Are we all invited?? :>) Anna

Laurie Report 4 May 2006 12:02

Hi Queen of the Trifles - I make my own candles often - have to - cant buy ones to suit some of the holders I have. Burn heaps every night, its the joke of all our friends that there is no oxygen in our place I use it all up on candles. I'm into the shell thing at the moment - collect them down on the beach and melt them onto the side of the containers before I pour in the main wax. The nice autumn leaves around at the moment are nice too. I've always got wax burns on the hands - because I am a messy bugger. I recycle wax when I can if its not dirty - all the supplies are readily available, just dont be like me when I started and ruin saucepans - I had to get new ones and use the old ones just for wax. HOT TIP . . . use glad bake paper !!!! cheers luv Laurie

I'm with you Anna - I like the idea of Christmas in July too - sister Marie was telling me tonight they are haveing one this year, because usually at Christmas time the family can't get together - they have to stay home because it is soo hot and they have to water the stock every day - in July the troughs dont dry out - plus the threat of bushfires out west! Guess what - I have half my papers stowed away, I'm getting there !! luv Laurie

Thanks for the tips, Laurie. What got me to thinking about it was a stall in Robina last week. They had some beautiful candles in different shapes, colours and perfumes...sandalwood, lavender, rose, vanilla, chocolate and even ones with coffee beans in them. They were made here on the Gold Coast. Even if you didn't burn the candles they looked beautiful as a decoration. Can't be too hard. Particularly if (since I'm a woman) I read the 'structions heee heee. love Trifley

Laurie, gee you have soooo many talents :) candlemaking, story writing, paper filing.................... Trifley, yes, some Canberra shops go fully into 'Christmas in July' probably because it is so cold here in Winter :) Anyway, I still have some decorations up!! (ooops) Lara, hope Gwenda and I didn't break your laptop :0 it's only good grammar to mention Gwenda first hee hee. All welcome in July - just remember it is COLD - but we do have a wood fire. ~~~~~~~~Vonny
