Morning all Beautiful sunny day here today, too good to be inside, but I have to be stuck to this computer to fix up one of my main branches, as I had a cousin ring me from Sydney yesterday, he is in contact with another family member who needs a bit of help, so I have to make sure everything us up to date ready for her to make contact. Anna yes I also found the same as you with the GC photopage, albums are there and stating they have however many photos that has been put into the albums but you can not see the pics. Well must go and do my FH work, so instead of Forever Hunting, I am now sorting, sorting, sorting lol. Cheers Sue

Afternoon All, stunning day in Mudgee today, not a cloud in the sky - so who cares, we don't want any rain anyway, ppppppp. I also can't view most of the photos on GC, must be a glitch in the system. Boy, those poor miners must have surely had enough by now. Let's hope that they finally get them out today. That Shane Warne is a pathetic specimen! Does he not care about what his children go through when he behaves in such a revolting manner - obviously not! Hope everyone is having a nice monday. Seeya Lew Lew xxx

Good Monday all, Shazz, so nice to see you back on here. Hope your Mum is ok? Big groan from me at not getting to see you - never mind, next time, and at least we have a new table to show you :) lol Sunny but cold today - very cold last night. have to go and sort out the family finances - somehow while we were away we missed paying some vital bills!! ~~~~~~~~~Vonny

Afternoon Wattlers, been a good little wife and mother this morning and finished all the H*****K so I dont feel guilty eating lunch at the puta.... like I care anyway...lol Finally got new printer/scanner up and running last night but having problems changing our email addy now from what telstra gave us to something we can remember. OH had it all figured out, no worries, easy, who needs to read the instructions, any fool can do it...........yea right....lol Well you lot have finally shamed me into trying to get my papers organized, but first I have to work on the study. Its a tiny room that has to hold a large tank complete with frog, 15yrs of craft materials(mainly belonging to girls), our hugh collection of books neither of us ever want to part with, OH 's puta and collection of bits he may need one day, my puta, and all my 'tree' stuff. Geez didnt sound too bad till I listed everything...guess I'll start by throwing out things I come across that no-one has used in the past couple of years and putting all my bits of tree info into a big box together. Then I'll have to find some sort of system to file it all. Could be a long winter. Lew shouldn't you be working, thought you said you were going to the office....lol I bet JudeYV is reading the thread while she sits in the office pretending to be busy too...naughty girls...I'LL be doing the same tomorrow...lol Just heard miners might not be free today, depends on the type of rock they find next....poor things. Must be very hard for them and their families to be to be so unsure of when it will all end. Ok, I've stalled long enough....off to get some boxes back later Jude2

Afternoon All, Another nice day in Queensland, rain would make it perfect. I too am having probelms on GC photos page. No photos, just a blank square with a red cross in top left corner. Gwenda, could you please send me your email addy again. I sent the list to you but it has come back. Double checked and it's the address you gave me. Pleased that John Woods won at last. Didn't watch the logies, at get bored with award ceremonies. Especially with people like Joan Rivers. Lets hope that they can get the miners out today, I can't imagine what it must be like to be buried alive all that time. 1 Hour for me would be bad enough. Might be good for the diet though. Sorry I don't mean to be trivial. Once again governments closing the door after the horse has bolted. I refer to the new traffic lights where poor Sophie was run down. Ofcourse it is still the drivers fault at the end of the day. Apart from speeding he obviously had a problem with his eye sight. Is every one over their colds and aches and pains? I hope so. Keep smiling , even if your team lost. Love SuzyQ

Hello everone, It's freeeeeezing here today, I haven't put nearly enough layers on and MUST sit in office and do paperwork today. Later I'll go to the gym and warm up. Miners are warm at least but they'll be a bit sick of 30 degrees, bet the BO is a bit rank by now !! Looks like one more night for them. What a horrid weekend of news with poor little Sophie too. Plus my footy picks were atrocious....(except I did pick Collingwood to win thank heavens). Ooh you'll love having a scanner/printer Jude 2 - silly me I've 'mislaid' the instructions to mine and need to scan some things tonight, hope I can work it out without the booklet. Laurie I have Picasa up and running, it's great, I have been able to sort my census scans properly into family groups so it's going to be easier to send off the attachments to various cousins who want them. I have also started a file for DD14 to make an album to take with her on a disc to Japan when she goes in October. Jude 3 YV I owe you photo havn't forgotton just can't get to computer at home for long MY big ocean going liner will be Hot Pink Laurie - easy for you to spot coming in to Botany Bay, the waterside workers will all have to be issued sunglasses lol!! Hi Shaz sorry your weeks holiday was cut short hope your Mum is well. Remember Mother's Day is next Sunday everyone. OK, lunch break over - I had a chicken kebab from nice little shop with a lovely owner nearby - needed hot food to warm me up. Think I'll get the crockpot out and get a batch of soup going tonight..... Catch you all later Heather in Albury

Hey Flakey. You should know that being a female, I can multi-task! Have fun cleaning the little room and don't forget to purge. It's good for the soul, lol. Hi Heather, chilly here in Mudgee today, too. Sun's out, but the air is crispy. You're right about the legislation, SuzyQ, but I feel sorry for the old guy. It's not like he did it on purpose and accidents can happen to any of us. Okay, back to work, before Flakey picks on me again, lol. Lew Lew xxx

Hi Wafflers I’ve just tried the photo page and I can’t get anywhere either. Must be some heck of a glitch. Now this ‘football’ thing you’ve been talking about. Lions, tigers, dogs, roosters, crows……..does the RSPCA know about this? Sounds a bit suss to me. Hi Jude2……what sort of printer/scanner did you get? I had a scanner attached to this puta until the USB port went on the fritz. Mark took it for his lap top and I haven’t seen it since. Which isn’t surprising, as things have been known to disappear into his room before. I think mhe has a Bermuda Triangle under his bed. Hi Lew Lew…….I agree with you about Shame Warne. He can’t be thinking of his kids the way he behaves. We always told Mark, when he was growing up, not to do anything he wouldn’t like to see on the front page of the local paper the next day. As we used to live in small towns and Graeme was a local copper, there was every chance Mark could have made it to the front page. It is all about self respect and respect for family. Ok that’s my turn on the soap box……next! Ahhhh…….time for coffee. Be back later. ~~~~waves to you all love Trifley

Laurie Report 8 May 2006 06:16

Afternoon all, while were all on soapboxes, I'll put in tuppence worth on the driver issue . . . Its about time the doctors thought of others on the road when they sign approvals for the elderly drivers to retain the lic. Both my b-i-l and my dad had theirs for too long. OK I know independence is important - but the legislation is there its just the Drs who dont follow the line - My b-i-l was bedridden and Dr signed for him, my dad was clearly reflex deficient and he got his . . . How many times have each of us been out on the road and seen elderly drivers obviously struggling!!! I do feel for the old guy who hit Sophie, . . . but contempt for the system that allowed him to be there !!! Steps down . . . takes a deep breathe . . . and goes for a caffine fix . . . cheers luv Laurie

Hi Trifley, my new toy is a Canon PRIXMA MP170 I thought it was a bargain..$145 at JB Hi Fi you can plug memory cards into the front of it and it comes with a photo program which looks good but I haven't tried yet. B/W or color and so much faster than any printer I've ever had before.....lets just hope its idiot proof...lol cleaned 4 shelves so far, but most of the s**t doesn't belong to me so am making a mountain for hubby to sort..hope he is in a chucking mood when he gets home. must be coffee time Lew I understand multi tasking, Im a wife, mother, daughter, housekeeper, cook, DIL, office manager, occasional taxi driver....the list is never-ending, why arent we paid accordingly...lol I have a sign on my office door, 'Yes men work harder than women, but women do it right the first time' how true Well said Laurie, its hard for families to take lic away, its a doctors job! Trifley Report 8 May 2006 06:30

Hi Laurie.........<<<clap>>>. A most worthy item to take a stance about. We used to live in a small Blue Mountains town west of Katoomba. There was an elderly lady who would walk up to the path in front of her home, look both ways to check for cars on the Gt. Western highway, then hobble back down the driveway to her garrage. She would start the car and then BACK up the driveway and onto the road. How she never had an accident was due more to the vigilance of others than to her driving skills. Graeme had to have a talk with her and she eventually gave up her licence. Poor little Sophie has survived so far because of her inner strength and the skills of our medical teams. May the angels continue to look after her. Dianne

SuzyQ

SuzyQ Report 8 May 2006 06:47

Hi, Yes I agree on the subject of elderly drivers. My dad is a fairly competent driver at 89, I feel safe in with him. He recently bought a little Hyundai getz which is easier for him. His licence is for daylight driving only. He is not allowed out at night. But he knows that he will have to give up his licence soon and will be happy to do so. At the moment he only goes out a couple of times a week and never in the city, once for a Sunday paper and once to shop, library etc. He has also recently had laser surgery to his eyes and can see with out his glasses. I am guessing that the man who ran into Sophie will never forgive himself, but school zones are 40 not 60 here in Queensland anyway, and any one driving should know the rules, and obey them. Sorry to sound so hard, but that's how I feel. How would we all feel if it had been a young hoon? I had better go before you all throw things at me SuzyQ

Hi Jude2 You wont know yourself with a new printer. You'll be able to print straight from the memory card of your digi camera. I remember when we upgraded years ago from a dot-matrix printer to the inkjet we have now...........I was gob-smacked at how quick and quietly it printed. You'll have lots of fun. Trifley

Laurie

Laurie Report 8 May 2006 07:02

Not throwing anything Suzy Q . . . lol School zones are 40 down here too - but I dont think Sophies accident happened in an actual school zone. I just think there has to be a tick the box test over a certain age to be allowed on the road - both eyesight and reflex, rather than have it down to a Drs opinion - I know my dads Dr was ony thinking of Dad independance when he signed the form - bet he didn't give a thought to if he would like his kids on the road with Dad. It was a very long time before he handed his in that I would get in the car with my Dad driving, its nothing to do with age! I'm getting new neighbours - new folk moving into aptmnt next door - sitting here having good laugh at hubby and wife DISCUSSING getting cupboard through the door! pmsl cheers luv Laurie

Nope, I'm still having trouble with GC photos! Very frustrating when I want to have a sticky beak at you all! Very chilly in Mudgee this arvo and I'm sure, 'cause the sky is sooo clear, that we're going to have a frost tonight. The sun is just setting and the hills are surrounded with the most incredible blues through the pinks, a sight I will never tire of. Hubby is cooking a rack of lamb for dinner with cous cous and some other amazing things he has found, so looking forward to that. Boy, he can cook! I agree with you Laurie, but have you seen some of the drivers on the road in their teens, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, etc, etc., who definitely shouldn't have their licences! That's, of course, where the problem lies. Maybe we all need to be a little more active reporting bad driving, no matter what the age, like some of the truck companies advertise on the back of their trucks. If you're not happy with one of their drivers, they give you a number to report them on, so maybe that's one way of policing it. Recently, we had an 18 yo boy die here in Mudgee after 'surfing' on the roof of his mate's ute and falling off! Of course, the driver and 2 other friends will have to live with that for the rest of their lives, but how do you legislate against extreme youth, stupidity, etc. Well, that's my turn on the soap box, so I'd better step down, lol.
