Hi Allan~~
That's an old one ;-)
There used to be a night club in Caerphilly called the Double Diamond. :-)

Sandie, I did for a brief, glorious, period work at the Wilsons Brewery in Manchester. I was a lab technician ine Red Barrel Section. Red Barrel was a ' national' keg beer produced by Watney's in London but also produced by other various local breweries such as Wilsons. The beer was a main competitor for Draft Double Diamond. Part of my job involved taste testing. I was 16 at the time :-D

lol Sandie,

Kegs of Red Barrel produced at different breweries in the Watney Mann chain were sent to Wilsons (just as RB produced by Wilsons was sent to the other producers) and we tested for taste and colour to ensure consistency. It was a blind testing so we didn't know which keg came from where.

It was during this period of my life that I fell off the open platform of a double decker bus as it turned a corner :-D Fortunately for me, there was not much following traffic....and yes, just prior to this I had been doing some taste testing!!!

I don't know the names of the Northern beers, just saying on another thread a training course Blackpool in the hight of a freezing Feb is the most Northern I've been in the UK. Tho I have a good sense of direction , drove to Wolverhampton and Coventry..no Sat nav. then. Been to Lands end .

Hello Julie

lol Sandie I left school at 16 but went on to College (Salford Tech) when I was 18 to do my Health Course. Back in those days Environmental Health was not offered as a Degree Course except at Aston Uni but even with a degree graduates still had to obtain the Diploma as that was the qualification stipulated by law.

The Q and U are not compulsory.

If we can think of a food or drink starting with those letters, great, but if not we just leave 'em out :-)
