Ran out of fresh lemons, Julie so used lemon juice. This made the curry a bit sweeter than usual. We have some lemons on the tree but they are still a bit small and unripe.

My curry is a cross between an Indian and a chinese. I make my own curry powder. I have a recipe book for Indian Cuisine which I use quite frequently, especially when I do a Vindaloo.

lol Julie. I'm originally from the UK (Manchester) but I now live in West Australia about 170 kms south of Perth in a place called Australind.

We've been out here since 1982 (We being OH and myself and our two, now adult, children)

I enjoy cooking but would only describe myself as a mediocre cook

I have a cousin who has emigrated to Queensland. He rubs it in how warm it is out there and comes back with a lovely tan mid winter. Nice

You don't like hot weather but you moved to Australia?
Our SE could do with some of the wet. Its crazy, In the winter we have a hosepipe ban and they are asking people to use less water as its the dryest
since 1976's hot summer

We weren't sure that we'd be staying, Julie. We first went to the goldfields were it was really hot but dry. Down here in the South West it is hot and humid, but not as bad as up north! :-S

As you may have seen from some of Sandies posts as well as my own, OH and I have just come back from a 'rail and sail' holiday.

Looking at our weather I reckon you are better off staying there and coming over here for a hol. My cousin doesnt regret it at all though he would like to see a little more ofhis parents.

Tabitha~~
I remember the megga Summer of 1976 when we had a hosepipe ban.
Got married that yr and our small office closed and we had to move to a big one in the opposite direction from where I lived. No big deal really as hubby worked in the town my new offices would be. But it was one of the hottest summers on record.
Who'd have believed they'd put a hosepipe ban in already :-0 :-S
My garden is like a quagmire :-( .... I've no need for a hosepipe...yet !

Hello all

lol Tabitha I also remember the summer of '76 as our son was born in Sept of that year in Cleethorpes. I remember going for a walk with him in his pram through a rather large country estate. We were walking behind a tractor and trailer which was carrying newly picked potatoes. Everytime the trailer went over a bump some potatoes would spill out. We picked them up and shoved them in the pram. We must have gathered quite a few pounds.
As I recall, there was a potato shortage that year as well :-D
