As a retired Health Inspector I can assure you all that at the end of the day you have to really switch off otherwise you would never eat out anywhere! The posher the place, the more food hygiene contraventions there are :-0

Mind you, as a retired Health Inspector, I really shouldn't be eating at home either :-D :-D

Thanks GP. :-) Ihave fond memories of Newcastle from my days in the UK Army Reserve. The unit I was with was, for a time, attached to the Field Hospital based in Newcastle. What a group!! Had a few Regimental dinners there, and as for the camps, you couldn't have wished for greater people.

Allan - would you have been stationed at Fenham Barracks, Newcastle. It is not far from where I live.

Allan

Allan Report 2 Feb 2013 11:45

I'm fairly sure that that was the name GP. I was in a field hygine platoon. After about three years we were transferred to the City of Glasgow Field Hospital, what a bunch of proverbials. I had already had some experience of the Scottsh unit having done one annual camp with them after my recruits' course :-|

Allan - if the barracks were near Newcastle United's football ground then it would be Fenham Barracks.

GP

Allan Report 2 Feb 2013 21:30

Fenham it was GP as I remember the grounds. I'm a bit hazy as it was over 30 years ago. the only Barracks I can remember clearly were the old Keogh Barracks which was the base depot for the RAMC and where the school of Army Health was located, where during my 14 years I was both taught and then lectured

I suppose things move on GP. I left the Reserve at my own request as we were emigrating to Australia. My last year of service was 1981
