Haugesund pickled herring

Alternatively, stuff a herring in each ear and you have a herring aid

Hello all....GP I'm sure that you are just codding :-D

The trip to Perth went well. The train ride was great as you have to pre-book the seats and on arrival in Perth there is a dedicated platform for the 'Australind' so no crowds to contend with. The day was overcast with temps in the very low 30's although when the sun came out it felt hot. Although we have been to Perth a few times we have usually just gone up, done whatever needed doing and left. On thursday we had plenty of time to look round, particularly using the free city centre buses. Big changes, but also major road works which cause havoc at rush hour.

Sounds as if you generally had a good day then ( tho long ) :-)

It was a long day, Sandie. We may repeat it soon but without a 12.00 noon appointment which meant that we couldn't really move from the City centre. Next time we could catch a ferry to South Perth and go to the Zoo. The day would be more organised know we know more about the transport system (apart from the free City centre buses, all other bus and ferry services are free for seniors between 0900 am and 0330 pm)

lol Sandie :-D I already have the seniors card (issued by the State Government) next month I apply for the big one, an aged pension, or at least part thereof, as you then get issued with a health care card which means I would only pay $3.00 per prescription item rather than the $37.00 I pay now. GP visits will be free (currently $65.00) and will get concessions on house rates, free driver's licence and the list goes on!

Hey that's good Allan :-D

But you currently have to pay for a GP visit :-| :-0

We don't get any reduction on any housing / water rates at pension age. Ours has been owned and mortgage free for many yrs Only took one out for 20 yrs.

Hubby can now have free eye tests with a certain Optician, but that's about it at reaching a certain age :))
Prescriptions are free in Wales, hubby hasn't had one in yrs.

Your hubby is fortunate, Sandie :-) I'm on pills for cholesterol and high blood pressure. Some of my visits to the GP are free such as the one for my diabetes check-up every six months, but all others I have to pay for.

My Cholesterol level is over what it should be , but I try to control it with diet and haven't been prescribed pills. BP is good ,thankfully as high BP runs in the family.
Mum had too many strokes and heart attacks , I lost count. :(
So I am at risk !
Whenever I have my BP checked ,they say it's OK. but I always ask for the reading.

I have a BP monitor at home Sandie and use it on a regular basis as I suffer from 'Whitecoat hypertension'. Every time I go to the dr's it goes sky high. My GP accepts my figures.

I once reversed the car onto a concrete block in a car parking space ( it was low down ,but just enough to catch the underside of the car) when I was attending a pre natal hosp visit.
I expected my BP to be thro the roof but it was fine. Panic was just in my head ! Perhaps you do wind your self up( medically speaking) cos you are wary of the result.

- i too have "White coat Hypertension" my bp was find till my mum died & then went through the roof - after a while it went down far too far - so they spent a while adjusting again - in theory it seems to have leveled out - they have worked out mine has to stay on the high side otherwise I get very ill -

I am just very odd - there I said it before anyone else tried
