Hi Sheila

If you search here www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html
you will find that Agnes died in 1971 in SA. I think Herbert died in 1941. [yes, see next post]

Herbert & Agnes had a son named Reginald Gordon in 1916; he died in 1967, aged only 52. He married Iris VAUGHAN in 1935 in Adelaide. Iris was born in Adelaide in 1916 and died in 2006 aged 89. Reginald served in WWII:

BALDOCK REGINALD GORDEN : Service Number - SX19311 : Date of birth - 20 Sep 1916 : Place of birth - YACKA SA : Place of enlistment - WAYVILLE SA : Next of Kin - BALDOCK IRIS

Agnes, Reginald & Iris' memorials can call be found here
www.centennialpark.org/deceased-search/deceased-search.html

NB There was another Reginald Gordon born in SA around the same time; he married Loueen Jean BAWDEN in 1938 and died in 1993 aged 78; they are buried together at Robe Cemetery. Just in case he pops up and causes confusion.

Sad :-(

The Advertiser, Thursday 5 June 1941
After he had been missing from his home since Sunday, the body of Herbert Baldock, 50, foreman, of Elizabeth street, Mile End, was found in the sea off West Beach yesterday. Although he had not been seen for three days some clothes found on the beach near the body were dry, indicating that Baldock had entered the water since Tuesday night's rain. It is understood that Baldock had been in ill-health for some months.

The Advertiser, Thursday 5 June 1941
BALDOCK.β€”On the 3rd of June, Herbert (Bert), the beloved husband of Agnes Baldock, of 35 Elizabeth street, New Mile End, and late of McLaren street, Adelaide, and loving father of Reginald, aged 50 years.

Possible birth for Herbert BALDOCK in 1890 in Lambeth UK. Can see him in 1901 in Battersea aged 10 but not who he is with. Emigration from London to Adelaide in 1911 of Herbert BALDOCK b. c1891. Appears to be travelling without family.

Sorry Liz, no sign of him. It is possible he died on the way over. Pretty harsh conditions onboard in those days :(

Not sure how you could find out? Maybe order a copy of the passenger record from NSW Records online?

Hi Cherilyn
Could you take a look at the Victoria records for me. James William Hill married Sarah Horsley in 1874. They had the following children:
Kizier 1874, Charles 1876, Jane 1878 - 1879, James 1879 – 1900, Henry 1881, Albert 1884 - 1884, Olive 1884 – 1884 and Sarah 1885. Sarah snr died 1885 and James remarried to Eliza Walsh nee Boyd. I have their marriage certificate. I cannot find any records for Kizier, Charles, Henry or Sarah and am wondering what could have happened to them. I know when Eliza died - 1929 - but not James. I did have a recent thread about James but not the above children. Thank you.

Hi Marian

Sorry I can't see them at all. Maybe they were adopted out, given their young age when mum Sarah died? If Jas could not cope (or certain ppl thought he couldn't/wasn't) then the children may have been taken into care. So names may have been changed, making it near impossible.

Nor can I find Jas Wm's death. Do you know where Eliza was buried? Worth checking Cheltenham Cemetery to see if she is there and if Jas is with her. Might give us more to go on. :-)

Happy New Year!
