Hi Cane

Do you know his parents names please? Does he appear on the 1901 UK census, or 1911? just for a timeframe...bit of a needle in a haystack! :-)

Hi Cherilyn, me again!! I'm looking for a possible marriage between a Blanche Hutcheson B 1918 (place unknown as yet!) to one Frederick John Steward. FJ was born 1918 in Vic, and I have both parents from Vic death records, but I cannot find a marriage in either Vic or NSW. In the 1942 census, FJ is recorded as a soldier, and I'm wondering if perhaps they married in a hurry before he embarked for Papua. Their first child was born c 1940. Cheers Linda

Cherilyn Report 19 Jan 2013 05:39

Yep Linda. Blanche married Frederick in 1939 in Victoria (reg 12715). Those young romantics! :-D

The only Frederick John STEWARD at NAA Recordsearch served in WWI? So maybe the one in 1942 is not him?

Cherilyn, I could kiss you!!! Thought I hd to tell another dear friend that her saintly grandmother wasn't so saintly!!! Hmm the one in 1942 is at home with Blanche, maybe the WW1 is a forefather, and maybe FJ didn't "serve" but joined up just too late? Thank you again, Linda :)

Hi Zena

If you order thru NSW registry it will be A$31 for a certificate:
www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search

If you use a transcription agent it is less - A$18 (less if you don't need the full cert). See Joy Murrin www.joymurrin.com.au/home-page/our-services/nsw/
OR Marilyn Rowan www.transcriptions.com.au/pages/transerv.php

The only difference is that it is not a 'legal' document in the courts but all the info is exactly the same! Hope this helps :-)

Happy to help, Linda :-D

Found Frederick John STEWARD - he did serve in WWII; he enlisted in 1942, served til Nov 1945, and he was a Staff Sergeant. Spelling is a bit different so missed it before, but spotted him on the nominal roll:

STEWARD FREDRICK JOHN : Service Number - VX101939 : Date of birth - 16 Mar 1918 : Place of birth - MELBOURNE VIC : Place of enlistment - BROADMEADOWS VIC : Next of Kin - STEWARD BLANCHE

Cherilyn Report 21 Jan 2013 02:00

Hi Sylvia

It is a bad scan (Trove) but this is the result of his court case:

The Argus, Saturday 20 September 1930
Laurence Henry Harding, aged 23 years, labourer of Myrtleford, had pleaded guilty to a charge of having obtained money at Melbourne on August 3 by means of a valueless cheque. Judge Winneke said that Harding would be sentenced to imprisonment for three months.

Sorry I can't find any remarriage or death for him, nor Monica :-(

Hi Cherilyn,

Fingers crossed,I have been looking for this man for years!... I am looking for immigration details for Thomas Pover to New South Wales on the unassisted passenger lists, sorry I do not have a specific year but it would have been after 1862 when he married in Lambeth, Thomas was born in 1839 in Sussex England. I last have him in Corfu Roads on a HMS Terrible in the 1861 census. After that who know what happened? Any help you can offer is very much appreciated,

Kindest regards
Lisa
