Mo in Kent Report 30 Jan 2011 19:33

Ann the cream I have got for the cold sores, is the same as T's but it's B**ts own make. It's got the same things in it.
It seems to be drying out a little now, thank goodness.
Your room looks soooo tidy, can you send T here please, I have a load of decking out in the garden that needs doing. Roly bought it last year, and it's still waiting to be put down.
I know we have not had the weather for him to be outside, but he gets these good ideas, and buys the things to do them, but never carries it through.
The bedside cabinets, he bought, oh I dont know, the year before last, are still in his shed, waiting to be built.
Anyone got a stick of dynamite. LOL

Jean, are you sure you have not got J's cold coming on you. You have had the cough for ages, and now with you shivering, and being hot at night, it does make me wonder.
Perhaps you are going through the change again. LOL I would not wish that on anyone, once was bad enough where I was concerned.

Love to all. Mo xxx

Actually Mo, T is quite good with jobs, once he has the stuff to make something he gets it done. Today he took up the carpet in his office and laid new underfely under it as we had some over.

Hello friends, still shivering and coughing, but got some good news, Jeff went for his yearly check up and he is clear but we have to go again next year, the chances are he will be sacked... we had a bit of do with the parking its a nightmare and we had to walk to another unit because were we usually went to had been moved, I was shattered... but glad for Jeff... so I have not done much of anything today.... hope you are all clear of coughs and sniffles....I am off to get tea started so be good and I will see you all later....

Mo in Kent Report 31 Jan 2011 17:46

My lord Jean, is it a whole year since J's last check up. How time flies by.
I can't tell you how pleased I am for both of you, this is the kind of news I love to read.
There never seems to be enough parking spaces at hospitals do there.
We have what they class as a multi storey, but it is only two floors, huh if thats a multi storey, I'll go to the foot of our stairs.
Plus all the staff have to park there as well.
I bet that you got the cold in your bones looking for the unit you needed.
Sit down after your dinner, and get warmed through.

My goodness Ann, you will have to tie T to the bed in the mornings to slow him down a bit. lol
He's such a whizz kid, even at his age. I told you, I want to borrow him.

Well I have got darts tonight, and I am not looking forwards to going back out in the cold brrrr.
Wish me luck girls, I will let you know tomorrow how we get on.

I hope everyone is o.k,and nice and warm in this cold weather, or in Marie's case not melting in the heat.
Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 31 Jan 2011 19:17

Jean, pleased to hear that J's results were good.....I can't believe how quickly the time as gone since he had his op.
I think it's the same with all hospitals, trying to park is a nightmare. It didn't use to be so bad at one of the Nottingham hospitals (the one that Jennie goes to for her Crohn's) because they had a good multi storey car park, but it became unsafe to use, so it was demolished and now the car park is on some spare ground further away. But I suppose to be fair, they have a few small buses running to the main entrance and back again, free of charge.

Mo. hope you win tonight, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you and your team. Good luck!

Ann, there's no stopping T is there. Like Mo, we need him here too...although I must say Alun isn't too bad, but certainly not as enthusiastic and energetic as T.LOL!!

I heard from Joyce yesterday afternoon, still suffering from cramp, unfortunately, but she sounds cheerful enough. She's going to the pain clinic tomorrow, so I hope they can do something to help her, then she's off to Liverpool on Thursday, so is hoping that all goes to plan so that she can visit the graves and put flowers on them.

Caz, thinking of you, and hoping that the pain is a little bit easier for you.

I haven't been anywhere today, as it's too cold.....I've also started with a cold, feeling a bit shivery with headache and aching joints, so I'm afraid that I haven't done very much today.

Hope everyone else is okay, thinking about you all.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Huia Report 31 Jan 2011 19:44

If I have to visit our hospital I go by train from Papakura as the train is free for oldies, and it stops right by the hospital. If I have to go to the Super Clinic which is nearer Papakura I drive. They have quite a big carpark. There is also a bus stop right by it on the main road, and there is also a special shuttle bus for people who have to visit the clinic, but I have never used that.

My mowing man has come this morning and is busy now. As soon as he is gone I think I will lie down for more sleep. I couldnt get to sleep last night until about 2 or 3, even after taking a 2nd half of a sleeping tab. I had that alarm set to wake me at 7 as I wouldnt have heard the man come up the drive.

I have been busy on FMP trying to get all my relatives but some in the Norris line are very difficult. I even tried Morris. A few years ago a 2nd cousin's son thought he had found George Norris and his family in the 1881. I wasnt entirely happy with it, but last night I found the same family on the 1891 and realised it definitely wasnt our George as the father was living with them, wrong first name, a widower and a writer. Also wrong p.o.b. I have the mother living elsewhere, a widow, so this George is wrong. Perhaps that is why I couldnt sleep last night, working on trying to find them. I did read for a while to unwind but obviously didnt work.

Sallie Report 31 Jan 2011 20:48

Huia, pleased to hear that your mowing man has arrived at last, hope he makes a good job of it.

It's awful when you can't "switch off "at night , so that you can get to sleep.
I know the feeling well, and you have my sympathy.

I really should be getting on with some more of our family history, but I never seem to have the time, but there again, card making takes up a good bit of my time, I'm afraid. The trouble is I hit a "brick wall" with a few of both Alun's and my ancestors, so I lost interest....but I must start working on it again.

Hope you manage to get some sleep after the mowing man has gone.

hi all
xx

lovely and sunny here ............. but that comes with low temperatures!

some good news on the insurance front, re the generator

OH has to find out how much it would cost to replace the generator, and let the assessor know.

There will then be a $200 deductible, and the insurance company will issue a cheque for the balance.

We do have replacement insurance for the house and goods ......... have had for 30 or 40 years. But this is the first time we've had to make a claim. (fingers, toes and everything crossed!).

We've decided that we are probably not going to replace the generator ......... we've been talking for a couple of years that it is getting to the time when I no longer enjoy going up there, and time to consider selling the place. We can rent a generator when we do go up, for a day, week or month.

It's cold here too, Alun said that the temperature was -5 this morning, not as cold as it was in December but cold enough.

Hope all is well with J and her family. Sending hugs and kisses to MJ.xxxxxx

Sylvia, fingers crossed that it all works out with the insurance. Maybe the thief did you a favour.

No jobs for T today, he played golf this morning but had to wait until late to tee off so didn't get home until 2.30. Apparently he tried to take my car this morning as he usually does for golf (it is kept in the garage so doesn't get iced up while his is outside) it wouldn't start. I have a very complicated alarm that if it is set and the car not driven for a couple of days it flattens the battery. It is a real nuisance. Anyway he took his. And the strange thing is I didn't notice he'd taken his, it is parked right in front of the house and the kitchen is in the front. I also walked out past where it would be to the shops and didn't notice. Must have neen walking round with my eyes shut! Good job it was him who'd taken it!

Good evening, ladies, apart from Marie (good morning) and Sylvia (do I hear snoring?).

I have made some finds on FMP (on the censuses), regarding 3rd cousins or whatever, and will be spending quite a bit more time there, although I have a docs appointment this afternoon for a weepy eye.

Behave yourselves while I am gone.

Hi girls.

No news yet from Joyce, I am wondering how she got on at the pain clinic.
I do hope they have found a way of helping you Joyce.

Huia, I hope you got on o.k at the doctors. And that you have fun trying to find your cousin on FMP.
We will be good whilst you are busy.

Ann, I know you had new glasses not long ago, but it sounds like you need to go back and get your eyes, checked again.
How the heck could you have missed the car having been taken by T. LOL
Mind you, we get so used to things being in one place, and when they get moved, it takes a little while for our brains to adjust to the fact that they are not there anymore.
I have been reading your thread about your car alarm. Blimey Mrs, I think I would chuck the thing through the window,if it keeps draining your battery.

Hi Sylvia. Like you, I wouldn't bother to buy another generator, not if you can hire one at a reasonable price.
Thank goodness the insurance people have got their backsides into gear pretty quickly.
You will miss having the cabin,if you do decide to sell it. It has been your little haven for quite some time now hasn't it.

Well girls, we drew at darts last night 3-3 and lost the pairs 2-1. My friend Eve and I lost for the first time in eons, but hey thats the way the cookie crumbles.
It's been another bitterly cold day here again today. I did go for a quick coffee with my friends this morning, but it was to cold to stay out for very long.

I will try to get on here tomorrow, via my sons laptop. Only this little baby is going in for a check up at the lappy hospital.
Son's laptop is not as easy for me to use as this one is, so fingers crossed for me.
Take care one and all. Love Mo xxx

Evening all, had fun and games with pc this evening. I have two e mail addresses and hadn't noticed that I had not had any mail from one of them since 9 January (blueyonder) for some reason the email address had corrupted so T spent over an hour sorting it out this evening. Of course I then had loads of e mails to look at and delete. I wondered why I had not got any PM alerts from Genes but thought it was probably them.

Can't type too much this evening as from somewhere I have developed a stiff shoulder and it is very painful if I turn my neck.

Hi all

it was a physio day today, so I was out from about 11 am until almost 5pm

Don't ask how a 30-45 minute appointment can add up to a 6 hour outing!!

It did include lunch, and a stop for coffee, and another for buying chocolates, and another for a discussion at the knitting shop ................... all within a 2 block radius of the physiotherapist

It was actually a lovely day to be out ........ sun, blue skies, the mountains across the harbour were so clear. BUT the side of your body facing the sun was almost too hot, while the other side away from the sun was freezing!!

Tomorrow is supposed to be another such day.

Mo .... we will miss the cabin, especially OH who just loves it up there. But I've hardly gone outside the cabin for the last 3 or 4 years except for going to and from the car. I can't walk on uneven ground, and I just end up in so much pain if I try. I take up my knitting and my reading ........ and it is really peaceful, but ......

We bought the place in 1997, so we've had it for almost 14 years.

We also have other things to spend our time on ..... last year we managed to get there for literally ½ day to open it up in late May, and 8 days in September when we closed it down. OH didn't get to do anything outside, which is what he really loves.

The previous year, we got up there for a total of about 2 weeks between May and September.

This year .... who knows? We do know already that we will be away in July for almost 3 weeks, possibly have visitors from Australia in August, etc etc

Sounds like more horrendous weather heading for Queensland.

Behave yourselves tomorrow :)))

Hi all just a quickie as tea is nearly ready, Joyce went to the pain clinic but it didn't help much as they wanted to do something she didn't want but I will let her tell you herself when she feels up to coming on her. I myself had a hospital appointment and it wasn't too good for me either, I got the news that my cancer is building up again so have been put back on chemo. Does it never end, what with all the illnesses I have to put up with I thought we had this one undr control. Sorry to go on but I am still a bit upset from the news.
Love to all, and Sylvia I can't do anything else but behave.

Hi Caz, sorry to hear that you didn't have good news at the hospital today.
Let's hope that the chemo will soon zap it, and that it will stay away for a long, long time.

You go on as much as you want, with the illnesses you have, you're entitled to go on. I'm alays here for you if you need to talk, and I'm sure all
our friends on this thread are here for you too.

Sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers, that you will soon be on the winning end again.

Thanks for letting us know about both you and Joyce.

Joyce, I'm sorry that the pain clinic couldn't do anything to help you. It's a shame that they wanted you to do something that you were not happy or comfortable with. You'd think that there would have been someting else that you could have done, that would have helped.

Take care travelling to Liverpool tomorrow, and hope that you'll have a good journey.

Not a lot of news here at the moment, just the usual everything days happening.

Hope everyone else is alright, take care.

Mo in Kent Report 2 Feb 2011 20:50

Oh for goodness sake,I am sooo dissapointed, about the outcome for both Caz and Joyce.
Come on our Caz,get your boxing gloves on and beat the bu**er.

I have also had bad news about my nephew. He had to go for his check up re his brain tumour, and it's not good news either.
He has a cyst growing in the area where they removed the tumour, and they are afraid that the cancer could grow back on the cyst.
They want to operate on him again next Wednesday, but he is not keen on having his skull opened up again, and may opt for chemo.
They want to use a new proceedure on him, and that is to wrap the cyst in,from what I can gather,is like tissue soaked in a chemo solution,to help to shrink it again.
The steroids are not shrinking it as quickly as they want it to. Mind you, it has been a year now, since his brain surgery, you would have thought the darned thing would have gone by now.

I am sorry to be going on like this, especially when we have Caz and Joyce suffering as well.
So come on girls extra prayers are needed all round, for our dear friends.

Have a safe journey tomorrow Joyce, we will be thinking of you.

Ann I hope your shoulder feels a bit better now. And that T has managed to sort out your e.mail problems for you.

Sylvia, that physio must have done you some good, for you to have been able to have a 6hour day out.LOL
But I bet you thoroughly enjoyed it didn't you. And being able to enjoy the sunshine was an extra bonus.
I remember when you went up to the cabin last time, you had an animal in there didn't you.

Hi Sallie, I meant to ask you how your brother is now. See it's my age, I remember these things, when I have finished posting on here, and forget the next time I am on.

(((((((((((((HUGS FOR JEAN +HUIA+MARIE))))))))))))))
And prayers that the cyclone in Oz does not affect her.

Bye for now girls love to you all Mo xxx
