Hello Ladies,

Mo, good luck if you have a match tonight, Hope your team will win.
How is your new granddaughter getting on, hope that she has settled into a feeding routine now. Bless her!

Ann, isn't it nice to have all your craft stuff sorted ? I haven't done any cards today, I want to try and keep the place tidy, at least until after tomorrow evening after the people have been to view the house. If they arrived while I was making cards, they'd run straight back out, because it usually looks as if a bomb has hit the room.Lolol!!

You have done well making your Easter cards already....but with you going to Tenerife you needed to get them done.

I have cousins living in Caerphilly, but we're not in touch with each other very much now. Really it's only for family funerals that we see them. Oh dear, that sounds awful!

.
Jean, there's no stopping you! You have done well finishing another scrapbook.

Sorry that you're still suffering with vertigo, even though it's not as bad as it was, it stil isn't good to be suffering at all. I hope that it will go altogether very soon.

Huia, hope all goes well with the writing and publishing of the book. It will be nice to do and give you an interest.

Someone that lived in the next street to me while I was growing up, wrote a book about the town, the different industries, streets and people there.
It started in the early 1800's through to the 1950's, it was such a success, that she ended up writing another three. They have been wonderful for family history, as they show the old streets that both mine and Alun's ancestors lived in before they were demolished.

My cousins in America, have been thrilled with a lot of the photos I've sent them, of where Tom's ancestors lived and worked.

It's good that someone is willing to write about all these places and people, otherwise future generationswill have nothing to look back on in years to come.

Caz, hope things are a bit better with you. I've missed seeing you over the last couple of days, but I know how things are and understand. Thinking of you.

Tess, hope things are alright with you, we haven't heard from you from you for a while.

Joyce, if you're looking in, hope that your trip to the cemetry today went okay, and that you have a good and safe journey home tomorrow.

Sylvia, hope both you and OH are alright and that your weather is not too bad. It's been really windy here since Friday, they had to close a local retail park for a good bit of the weekend because the wind had caused some damage.

Marie, how are things in Oz? Hope you and your family are all alright.

Love and best wishes to everyone.

Hi everyone, I spoke to Joyce yesterday and the granddaughter she was going to the grave with has a poorly child so I don't know if she went.I felt so helpless on the phone as she was crying with the pain in her legs, she won't mind me telling you, and said the doctors can't do anything. Surely they can up her painkillers or do something apart from that awful procedure they wanted to do.
Sallie I haven't been on here until last night because I have started my chemo again and it is making me a bit ill which is unusual at beginning of course. Also my back is so painful I can't sit properly to type at computer so lay back in my recliner for comfort.
I've been thinking about Marie a lot lately, we haven't seen her on here, unless I have missed her, I hope she is ok.

Thinking of Caz, let's hope the chemo is worth it! It really emphasizes the old addage that the nastier the medicine the more good it does you. Sorry to hear your back is bad too.

Poor Joyce, I can't understand why they can't give her a stronger pain killer, it is so debilitating for her.

Sallie

Sallie Report 8 Feb 2011 17:29

Caz, hope the chemo will do the job it's supposed to do again. I agree with Ann, about the old adage.

Don't worry Caz, we know and understand how difficult it is for you to do things sometimes, especially like now, when you're having more treatment.

Thinking about you, and hoping that you'll soon feel a bit better, than you do now.

It's a shame that Joyce's granddaughter couldn't meet her because of one of her children being poorly. I know that Joyce was really looking forward to seeing them all, so can imagine how upset she was.

I'll speak to you all later on, as we have some people coming to view the house in about an hour, so I'd better get organised.

Mo in Kent Report 8 Feb 2011 17:56

Hello girls.
Caz, I am sorry to hear that you have had to start the chemo again, and that it's having such a bad affect on you.
I am praying for relief for your back pains,it's so unfair on you.

You would honestly think in this day and age, that they would be able to find pain relief for both Caz and Joyce.
If the relief they have offered Joyce, is accupuncture, she may find it does help her.
I know that it has helped me in the past, and that was for my back and legs as well. Obviously I was not as bad as Caz and Joyce, but it really did help me.
I couldn't take anymore of the pain at the time, and would have accepted whatever they offered me.
The thought of having the needles so close to the spine is quite a frightening thought, so I can understand her worries, bless her.

Sallie, we did win last night, 4-2 but lost the pairs 2-1. Oh well never mind
theres worse things that happen at sea, as the saying goes.
I do hope that the viewers of your house like it. Have you got the coffee pot brewing, and flowers in a vase, to encourage them. lol
Fingers crossed for you love.

Ann, have you got the car sorted out yet.?
I explained to Roly what was occuring, and he was just as confused as myself. The only thing he could think of was that the cables had been connected wrongly. But then he is not a mechanic, only an electrician by trade, hence his answer. lol

If we don't hear from Marie soon, I will send her an E.Mail,it's worrying when we don't hear from her, especially with all the problems that have been occuring over in OZ recently.

I bet Huia is very busy with her research,~~~~~~~~~cooee Huia.

((((((((((((HUGS FOR JEAN)))))))))

I will be back later girls. Love Mo xxx

Sallie Report 8 Feb 2011 18:36

Hi Mo, just a quick reply before they come, what they offered Joyce wasn't accupuncture, otherwise she would have said yes.....they wanted to stick a long needle into her back, I think she said into the nerves so that they could find out what the problem is. But she's already been told by a specialist what is causing all the pain, and that all she wants is pain relief.

Jan had to translate for Joyce, so she began to think that she had got it wrong, and that it was accupunture they had offered her, but Jan confirmed that it deffinitely wasn't. She only wished it had been.

Hope you and Roly are okay, speak to you later. It's nearly time for the people to arrive.

Mo, I havent started any research for the book yet, just jotted down names that I remember hearing. I am waiting to meet the woman who will be writing the book, we are meeting next Wednesday. Today I really must clean the floors. I seem to have got rid of the plague of fleas, so the flea powder can be removed. It looks so messy.

Hello again Girls,

Just arrived back from Jennie's, we decided to go there after the couple came to view the house. Well they really liked it, but of course they still have to sell theirs......they did have a buyer but it all fell through, so we'll see what happens. They were a very nice couple, it would be nice if they could have this house.
Of course we still need to find somewhere ourselves, there doesn't seem to be many bungalows for sale at the moment, at least not in the areas where we want to live.

Mo, sorry to hear that you lost the pairs last night. Oh well, good luck next time.

I should think that Joyce will be home by now, hope that she had a good journey.

Huia, thank goodness that you've got rid of the plague of fleas. It will be nice to get rid of the powder.

Ann, I couldn't find Julia's phone number in Jennie's directory, so she might be ex-directory. Both M and J know the road she lives in but not the number. Let's hope she will be in touch with us over the next few days.
At least Jennie confirmed that Julia was going into hospital, as she had told us the day we met at the Garden Centre.

Hope everyone else is alright. Going to have a cuppa now, so speak to you all soon.

Lve and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
xxx

sunny with clouds today, about 7 or 8C

really quite spring-like!

OH had another appointment at the dentist's ..... one day this work will be all finished!

He left the house before 7am, takes the bus down, had to be there for 7:50 am to have blood taken for matching, but likes to have time for a coffee. Then he was going to have to wait until about 9 am before they started work. THEN they were going to do another implant (hence the blood typing.)

It's just turned 2 pm, and he still isn't home!

Sylvia, hope OH has arrived home by now.....gosh it's a long job, but I'm sure he won't regret it when all the work has finished. He's very brave having all that work done, I really admire him, as I'm absolutely terrified of dentists. Have been ever since having a bad experience there when I was in my late teens.....many moons agolll!!

Hope you are alright Sylvia. Sounds as though spring is on it's way in Vancouver. But I must say it has been quite springlike here today too.

Best not to speak to soon, as it will more than likely change again, as we're only a third way through February yet.

I go for my hearing test tomorrow at twelve, so we shall see what they say.

Goodnight to you all,

Sylvia, hope the dentistry work went OK.

Sallie good luck with your hearing test, hope they can sort you out.

Joyce, what a trip you had!! So sorry you couldn't find the grave. Was it that you had forgotten where it was. Isn't there anyone at the cemetry who could have helped you? And, as to your friend, you can't make her go tot he dentist and, although you are obviously worried about her you really have enough to worry about for your own pain. I am sure her family will help her deal with her problems. That isn't meant to be hard but you have to think of you and Jan.

Sallie

Sallie Report 9 Feb 2011 10:16

Ann thanks for the good luck wishes....I'm hoping they will be able to sort me out, too. I'll let you know how later today, how I get on.

Joyce, what are we going to do with you.lol! I know you are worried and concerned about your friend, but I agree with her son and Ann, you or no one else can make her go to the doctor's until she's ready to go herself. I don't want you to think that I'm hard or unfeeling because it's not meant that way at all, but you are going to make yourself really ill over something that you can't do anything about.

You have to think about you and Jan now, you have each other and you should be enjoying life together, so please stop worrying about other people.

I'm really sorry that you couldn't find the grave so that you could put the flowers on it. You were bound to get upset seeing the photo of your daughter , Joyce, it's early days yet, and it's the first time you've been to Liverpool since she died.

We are all here for you, and you know that we'll help you if we can, any time you need to talk.

I'm going to have a shower now, so that I can get ready to go for my hearing test.

Speak to you all later on today.

Hello All,

I've had a busy day today, first of all went for a hearing test, then we went and done the weekly shopping, it was very quiet in A--a's, nice for us, because we got the shopping done a lot quicker.
And then cooking our dinner, oh I didn't feel like doing that.....but needs must.

I've also been trying to find out how Julia is, it's such a long time since she's posted, and there are quite a few members on GR that are concerned about her, including myself.
So I'm going to do what Liz Purple has suggested, and write her a note, with as much information on, on where she lives on the envelope and post it to her, and hopefully she will receive it. Just hoping that the post man will know who it's meant for.
Well it's worth a try, at least, and I'll put my return to sender addy on the back of the envelope, just in case.

Where is everyone? It's very quiet on here, as well as a lot of other threads.

Mo, I was reading the Friendly Thread, last night, I sat here laughing at some of the things that were said, I'm sure if someone had heard me laughing like I was, they would have 'wondered' about me It's a lovely thread everyone is so cheerful, even with the problems some members have.

Have you heard anymore about your nephew, it seems a while since you last heard. Sending him lots of positive thoughts.

Ann, the hearing test went OK, thank you, by what I told him and the results of the test, he thinks that it is something to do with some three small bones in my ears, that are hardening, but to know for certain I would have to go to see an ENT Speciallist. I'm not too keen on that idea.

He took a mould of my ear, and I have to go back to see him in 3-4 weeks time for the hearing aid, if it fits OK.

He also told me that if I have got what he thinks it is, then it is hereditary, but it can skip out a generation. I've had some loss of hearing in my right year since I was about twenty seven, and over the years it's got worse and now I also have loss of hearing in my other ear too.

Joyce, if you're looking in, I hope you are feeling a bit better and not so upset as you've been. Take care of yourself.

Jean, I hope that horrible vertigo has gone for a while again, and that you are able to get on with your crafting. Hope J and D are both alright.

Sylvia, hope all is well with you and OH, and that he isn't feeling too many
after effects after the dentist. Hope you are still having good weather.

Huia, did you meet the lady that's going to do your book for you, I hope you had a good meeting with her.
Hope all is as well as it can be with Phil.

Marie,I hope you and your family are are all OK. It's a while since we heard from you. Take care.

Caz, hope you are feeling a little bit better today. Thinking about you, take care.

I'll say bye for now, might speak to you later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, just seen your post, I feel so sorry about your friends granddaughter, those fits are horrible things and very frightening. Two members of my family suffered with them when they were children, but did grow out of them eventually.
Her poor grandparents must have been besides themselves with worry, and especially not being able to make themselves understood.

I hope she'll be alright and that she will stop having them as she gets older, bless her.

I've written a short letter to Julia, so I'll post it tomorrow, and hope the poor postman will be able to work out where he has to deliver it to.lolol!! Poor chap.

Marie I was worried about you because of all that's happening over there, glad your ok.
Just been talking to poor Joyce and she isn't very good, she seems to have one problem after another, her granddaughter is going into hospital next week for a biopsy on her Kidney. Can we all send positive thoughts out to her and hope it's a good result, she also says to let you all know she won't be on here for a while,
Sallie the first house we sold went in the paper one day and the next morning the estate agent rung to say a young couple had been to see it and wanted to buy it, wish you could sell as quickly. Arthritis in fingers is making it hard to type so will leave it at that.
Hello to everyone.

Hi Girls,

Marie, it's lovely to hear from you and to know that you and your family are safe......I feel so very sorry for all the people in Oz that have lost so much, especially any family and friends, it's such a tragic situation.

Pleased that your SiL's birthday party went off so well, I bet he was thrilled about it.

Oh Marie, I don't know how I would cope with your very hot weather, I hide in the house when it's hot here with the fan on......and the temperatures here are not as high as you get them there, as you know.

Caz, nice to hear from you, and thank you, for letting us know about Joyce.
I just wish there was something I could do to help her.

I hope and pray that all will go well with her grt granddaughter's kidney biopsy next week.
Joyce said that she has to come down to Nottingham Uni Hospital for that.
Jennie is under a Consultant from there, and they look after her really well, as I'm sure they will look after Joyce's grt granddaughter.

This is the first house that we haven't sold straight away too, Caz. To be honest, I can't see it being sold for a good while either, the way things are at the moment.
The couple that came to view it yesterday, told us that it had taken them nearly two months, on and off, to get the estate agent to make an appointment so that they could come and see it, they were promising to ring them back, about it, but didn't.

Both Alun and I are not happy about that, because a couple of months ago, they were trying their best to get us to take the house off the market, because they said there had been no interest in it at all.

The agreement was that if we pulled out of the sale before a certain date, they would be able to charge us a fee, but after that date we could pull the house off the market without being charged. But we decided to leave it on because at the end of the day, we would still like a bungalow.

Hope you are having a better day today, and that the side effects are wearing off.

Our tea is ready, so had better dish it up. I might see you all later.

Love and best wishes. Sallie.xxx

Hello girls, I had a pm from Jean to say that she had fallen this afternoon, she bent forward to put something in a drawer in her room and sat back on her chair but it moved and she fell. Poor love is coming out in aches and pains now, she will be sore tomorrow, she hurt her knees so I hope she can walk tomorrow as she has to go out. Sending you gentle hugs Jean although I doubt you will see them for a couple of days.
Sallie you do help Joyce a lot, she was telling me this morning how much she enjoys your phone conversations, we forget sometimes that she lives in a country where she doesn't speak the language so she only has Jan and his brothers and their wives to talk to and it's just usually Jan. There are four or five of us who talk on the phone regularly and she looks forward to it.
I would be falling out with that estate agent, he doesn't seem to be doing a good job of selling your house, I'd be tempted to change the agents but I know there will be reasons why you can't. I've had a terrible day with my back but had to do the washing, hope it's a bit easier tomorrow. If you are referring to chemo side affects it will most likely build up and get worse, I have been given some tablets to counteract the sickness, never been given them before, but there again it's never affected me like this before, lol.
